25/01/2026: Whenever we pass through, any excuse is a good one to stop and eat here. The staff is courteous and helpful, the location is the most relaxing, and the food is endless. It goes without saying that they deserve full marks!

25/01/2026: I've been there many times and have always loved everything. The last time was for my mom's birthday. We had a mixed Tuscan antipasti (special), then straight to the main course with fillets and steak, and to finish, a mix of homemade desserts, all delicious. The outdoor garden is stunning; in the summer, you can eat outside in the cool evening air. In short, there's little to complain about; you can't fault such a perfect place.

25/01/2026: Excellent food. The Aconese sauce is overpowering with too many different flavors, but it's definitely good! The new Acone olive oil is excellent. The cured meats are good, but the crostini are a bit less so. The table wine is good, definitely superior to the usual gut-burning Tuscan ones. The desserts are excellent, all homemade. Fast and courteous service. Excellent value. The only problem is that it's a bit far from the city. An experience to repeat!

19/01/2026: I came back here on Saturday evening even though it's a bit far from home, but I took the opportunity to take a tour of Mugello. Like the other times, the welcome was excellent and the dishes were high-quality at a reasonable price. We'll be back soon because I saw the tagliata with porcini mushrooms.

21/01/2026: We went to this restaurant based on the many positive reviews, but we were very disappointed. The pizzas arrived in less than 10 minutes, the dough was undercooked, and the crust wasn't comparable to that of the pizzas served at other tables. It seems like they were prepared in a hurry, probably to speed up service in anticipation of a possible second sitting. REVIEW UPDATE In the absence of shifts, as I initially assumed, I'm even more surprised that the pizza arrived raw. The reference to the ten minutes wasn't meant as a criticism, but rather as an observation: very little time passed between ordering and the pizza's arrival, a factor that most likely affected the cooking. I understand that the chef can also have a bad night, perhaps due to fatigue; however, this can't be an excuse, considering that the price paid was identical to that of other customers. Furthermore, reading the response I received, I'm even more shocked: instead of apologizing and perhaps inviting the customer to return to give the product another try, you can't afford to respond this way, especially under certain circumstances. Managing criticism is as much a part of service as the quality of the product itself.

17/02/2026: Location: A spacious restaurant 30 seconds from the train station and very close to the historic center of Pontassieve. It features two main rooms, a small private area, and an outdoor area adjacent to the main road in the summer. The interior is decorated in a rustic, welcoming, and warm Tuscan style. Food: The menu features both seafood and meat dishes (though not predictable), but the pizza is my favorite. It's well-risen and easy to digest. The menu offers a wide variety of tasty and innovative options, often based on seasonal ingredients. A staple in several courses is the bardiccio, a typical local sausage, flavorful and definitely worth trying. Service: Courteous, punctual, and helpful. In summary: My wife and I often frequent Bastian Contrario for the excellent variety of pizzas they offer, the warm and welcoming atmosphere, the attention to ingredients, and the beer pairings.

05/02/2026: Don't be fooled by the rotisserie visible from the outside, because it will satisfy your eyes but not your stomach: after ordering two main courses, asking for the liver to be removed from one of them, they arrived with three small pieces of roast and four slices of bread between them (correctly not the liver), but when it came to the bill, there was no price change for the missing piece (nor even an extra piece of meat as a replacement). Add to that the restaurant was scheduled to open at 7:00 PM, but we were left outside in the cold because, according to the owner, the meat wasn't ready yet and takeout should be served first. The only reason I gave it one star is because of the courtesy of the waiter who served us.

25/07/2025: We had a wonderful experience at this hotel. My girlfriend and I especially appreciated the peaceful atmosphere—there were no children around, making it the perfect place to truly relax. The on-site restaurant was outstanding; the food was the best I have ever tasted in Italy. The waitress and the two chefs were incredibly kind and attentive. Their wine selection was extensive, and you could even purchase bottles to take home, along with their excellent olive oil. The hotel staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with beautiful views. The pool was spotless and inviting. The only minor drawbacks were the lack of air conditioning, which wasn’t a major issue but would have been a nice addition, and the limited number of pillows. Despite these small points, I highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a relaxing and high-quality stay.

14/08/2025: Fantastic, super welcoming bar, bright and airy, and the emapanadas made by the owners are exceptional and super tasty. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a lively place to drink good cocktails and have excellent aperitifs.

27/10/2025: A real discovery! We spent two wonderful evenings. The welcome was warm and the service impeccable, always with a smile, by Maurizio Giuliana, the other lady (who didn't tell us her name but has an 18-year-old son), and the truly expert chef. Speaking of the food: everything was excellent, from appetizers to dessert. In particular, the Florentine steak is unforgettable. You can see the passion in every detail. Congratulations, we will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu. Although you won't easily forget us for the pleasant confusion we shared, we made a promise to return and hope we will. 16/09/2025: This is maybe even the best restaurant i have ever been to. Quality is 10/10, food + desert the best around Florence. Truffle pasta, steak, peach desert and semifreddo have really been amazing and i really can't recommend this place enough. Super nice staff, location, vibe + you can buy really good wine for a great price. We will br bqck for sure 😍😍😍😍
