07/04/2026: It was the first sunny day of spring, and I took advantage of it to catapult myself into Salento, eager to begin to smell the sea air, which, as we know, makes you hungry. This restaurant, found thanks to Google because it's not exactly on the coast, perfectly met my needs. Quality ingredients, beautifully prepared, served in abundance, so much so that you could fill up on a seafood lunch, which says it all. I look forward to seeing you soon in Martina to let you taste the meats of the Itria Valley.

I celebrated my father-in-law's birthday here today, and the experience was impeccable. Il Paisiello is a family-run restaurant that welcomes you in a quaint, rustic atmosphere, where the kindness of the staff (always professional and helpful) makes you feel right at home.
🍽️ The Menu: Freshness and Tradition
The highlight is undoubtedly the seafood. Here's what we tasted:
Appetizers: A triumph of flavors with an excellent seafood salad, authentic octopus meatballs, crispy cod croquettes, and tender octopus alla pignata (a true specialty).
First course: Caserecce pasta with baby lobster, flavorful and cooked to perfection.
Second course: A light, dry, and fragrant fried calamari and shrimp.
The finale: A refreshing sorbet, perfect after such a rich seafood feast.
🎨 The Ambience
We had lunch in the covered outdoor dining room: a very pleasant space dominated by white, made unique by naturalistic paintings on the walls and vintage objects that add a touch of personality and warmth to the atmosphere.
In summary: If you're looking for quality seafood combined with the warmth of a family-run restaurant, Il Paisiello is a must-try in Veglie. We'll definitely be back!

12/01/2026: Pasticceria Helena has been a trusted name since my childhood! Personally, I've never tasted better creams, tastier pasticciotti, more beautiful cakes, or the absolute sweetest desserts and staff you'll find at Helena! Thank you for always being there!
05/01/2026: Excellent bakery with gluten-free options (no gluten-containing flours), like pasticciotti and purceddhruzzi. AIC certified. We also bought the gluten-free panettone and it's simply amazing!!! We'll always be back!!!

12/10/2025: At Conte Cavour we had pizza; it had been recommended, but unfortunately, we found it quite tough.
Personally, I had trouble cutting and chewing it.
Nothing inedible; we definitely would have preferred a softer crust.
In any case, the place is very beautiful and welcoming, and the staff is knowledgeable and helpful.
We'll probably return and try their specialties.

09/09/2025: We went to the Madonna dell'Iconella Festival thinking there would be a "party" and therefore food, but it was just a procession with the statue and some beautiful fireworks. 😅 So, hungry, we tried to find a few places downtown and stumbled upon this lovely place.
And what luck! We ate fried food, pizza, pinsa, and excellent meat! So every cloud has a silver lining! If you're passing through, definitely come here!

04/04/2026: Truly a magnificent place. Everything was meticulously cared for, down to the last detail. The garden was magnificent, and the interior hall was truly large and beautifully decorated. The manager was extremely kind and thorough in his descriptions. For me, one of the best estates in the area.
25/03/2026: The garden is really large, with comfortable sofas and chairs for sitting with a group of people or, if you prefer, with your partner. The spacious room has a very rich and varied catering service, including a mix of both fish and meat. The food is fresh! Everything outside was very nice, the pool and the nice tables. We'll gladly return and I recommend it. 👍😉👍

14/09/2025: I've eaten at this pizzeria several times and I can say that the quality of the pizza used to be better. Yesterday, it was terrible; it hadn't risen, and the mozzarella, which was supposed to be buffalo mozzarella, was actually just plain fiordilatte. Instead of accepting criticism and offering a mea culpa, they even have the nerve to make stupid jokes. Not to mention the receipt never arrived. Mistakes can happen to anyone, especially on busy days, but if you've been in this business for decades, you should know how to treat people, and that's why it's not worth returning. Your colleagues in Veglie aren't this rude; in fact, they handle mistakes much better. I'll gladly follow the pizza chef's advice: "Then go eat at your restaurant or somewhere else."

12/08/2025: At 8:30 PM, I stopped by this pizzeria to buy some rotisserie items since all the other pizzerias in town were closed. The counter was empty, and I asked if, given the time, they were preparing any more rotisserie items. I was told they had orders and reservations and wouldn't be making any more for a while. My question is, if you're the only pizzeria open in town (since, from what I've been told, pizzerias rotate during the month of August), how can you not have some available during dinner time for anyone who wants to buy some for an evening or just to eat at that moment? I recommend, especially for tourists who may not be familiar with the town's operations, that you post signs indicating whether reservations are required to purchase rotisserie items.

Excellent, tasty pizza, pizza tortillas, sandwiches, main courses, and much more. Numerous beers on tap and in bottles. Fast service and attentive staff in the dining room are always available to assist with any eventuality.
24/01/2026: An experience not to be repeated. Upon our arrival, the waitress promptly warned us that there would be a long wait for the pizzas, inviting us to order something in the meantime. We ordered a fried food to pass the time (which arrived in record time), but the pizzas arrived after just 10 minutes.
We also asked for clarification on any allergens, but received no response, despite the fact that they were present in the dishes we ordered. It's important to remember that allergens can cause anaphylactic shock in sensitive individuals.
The pizzas that were supposed to contain 'nduja were completely free of it.
Furthermore, it is absolutely unacceptable that in 2026, people are still smoking in the dining room and that the staff doesn't intervene to dissuade them, except after numerous complaints.
I'm sorry, but the experience was decidedly negative: little respect and attention to customers.

09/09/2025: My husband and I stayed 10 days at this agriturismo: an oasis of peace just steps from Porto Cesareo. Strategically located for reaching the most beautiful beaches and towns in Salento. I had a great time: spacious room with a typical Apulian feel, fresh and clean, with daily towel changes, and a small fridge. The pool is beautiful with a view of the countryside. The breakfast is excellent and varied, both sweet and savory. You can also dine on site, serving traditional dishes. I recommend purchasing their products, including oil, wine, and jams. Overall, a great holiday, thanks to all the staff.
