Villa Carafa
Andria
08/03/2026: A special place. Truly enchanting. The facilities and staff are of the highest standard, not to mention the hygiene, services, and comfort of the rooms. A Zen garden, pools, and fountains everywhere. A true paradise.
17/02/2026: I'd like to add stars to everything about Villa Carafa. Nothing can compete with it... and I'm not making anything up!! Go there... and I hope you get to know its team, especially one of the owners... a wonderful man, with a wisdom as his places are, so lovingly cared for and enhanced. There you experience Stendhal syndrome... you fall in love with those personalized itineraries that make you feel sad to leave them. I would get married there 100 more times just to enjoy those enchanting places.

Vinavev - Osteria Contemporanea
Andria
23/01/2026: A short detour leads us to Andria's "Vin a Vev," a contemporary osteria that won us over in many ways. The atmosphere is welcoming, lived-in, and informal, featuring a successful mix of benches, vintage chairs, and wooden tables; the roaring fireplace adds a pleasant sense of comfort and conviviality. In the background, the music of postwar romantic Italy plays, ranging from melodic Italian songs to swing and jazz.
The all-female dining room staff is friendly, helpful, and delightfully communicative in describing the dishes, clearly highlighting the traditional and regional elements. The menu, displayed above the fireplace, is written on a simple, understated blackboard, carefully crafted based on seasonality.
The welcome offering includes focaccia and taralli "scaldatelli." We trace our journey and begin with the house meatballs "Vin a Vev": a successful reuse of stale bread, meat, and the seasonal touch of beetroot, served on a bed of dried legumes for dramatic effect. Next comes a pumpkin millefeuille: battered and fried slices, layered and punctuated with sauce and a sprinkling of Parmesan. Don't just call it pumpkin parmigiana. The horsemeat with poached eggs is surprising: the egg, cooked at a low temperature, has a firm white and a soft yolk, ready to drip onto the mixture when broken. The dish is completed with a Canestrato cheese fondue and a sprinkling of fragrant bread. To round off the appetizers, a more assertive, savory, and spicy flavor arrives: the typical smoked sausage, aka Salsicc' 'mbumoit, with red sauce. As a complement, excellent homemade bread, like all the other baked goods served. To cleanse our palates between one delicacy and the next, we sip a Negramaro rosé from Produttori Vino di Manduria. Moving on to the first courses, we decide to try both: mixed pasta with potatoes and smoked provola sauce, topped with a quenelle of chopped langoustine; and pappardelle paglia e fieno with local pork ragù. We could have left more than satisfied, but that simple final phrase on the blackboard—"Homemade desserts"—is a magnet for curiosity. Of the three options, we choose a brownie with Moscato zabaglione cream and mint and a deconstructed version of pastiera: three wafers interspersed with ricotta, chocolate chips, and candied fruit.
"Vin a Vev," aka "Come and Drink," is a contemporary osteria worth marking down among the places to frequent and recommend.
19/01/2026: A heartfelt applause to these guys! A magnificent place and cuisine beyond all expectations, proving that you don't need magic to amaze, but rather, like these brave guys, infusing tradition with an innovative twist that enhances the result without going overboard, with noteworthy service and hospitality. A pure, sincere experience. Kudos to the owners, true love and passion for this work shine through.
We'll be back time and time again, especially with the ever-evolving menu!
BRAVO!

26/02/2026: We dined at this pizzeria on a Friday with a reservation. Upon arrival, the table was ready despite the large crowd. The pizza was excellent, with a very light, contemporary dough. The toppings were made with quality ingredients and paired perfectly with the ingredients. Impeccable service; we'll definitely be back.

Il Turacciolo
Andria
05/12/2025: I’m not leaving a bad review because of the food, or what I was able to try, because it was very good, but because of how we were treated. We even cancelled other reservations to come here because we heard such good things and it’s a Michelin star.
We arrive pretty close to opening around 8:45 to a mostly empty restaurant and are led through a very nice looking place, up the stairs into a brightly lit room that doesn’t look nearly as nice as the main downstairs. I ask if we can please sit downstairs and they say no because they have reservations, which I thought was odd because we had reservations and the room was empty so far. Anyway we are given a small glass of wine on the house which was nice but then were ignored for about 25 minutes, weren’t even given water which we asked for several times, weren’t told about the menu which was all in Italian and we spoke only English. Finally we try to get the waiters attention and he tells me one moment and brings over the owner who I guess is the only one that speaks English well, which is fine but he’s working downstairs not where we’re seated. He was nice and went over the menu with us and helped us pick our food. Then another 20 minutes goes by and we are given a wine list which is huge, no help on what to pick until I get the attention of the waiter again, he is slightly helpful but not really. We arrived around 8:45 and now it’s 9:45 and we finally get our first course, it’s not until almost 11 that we get our main courses.
The main issue we had that night was we had an issue with the tables nearby. There was a group of younger people next to us and their text message DING DING sounds kept going off very very loudly and it was very distracting. There was also a table with a child nearby that let their child roam free and run around the restaurant which was also slightly annoying and didn’t seem like the right place for this vibe. The other table also kept playing music on their phone, it was honestly very bizarre because it was so quiet up there, music would play on and off but mostly it was silent. We asked the staff if they could please talk to the table next to us about silencing their phone and they ignored our request, apparently pretending like they didn’t understand even though I used a translator app on my phone and they said they understood. Finally I had enough because our treatment throughout the night felt like we were pushed off to the side and ignored so I asked to talk to the owner again because it felt like he was the only person who understood us.
He apologized for the treatment and asked if we wanted to be moved downstairs. Apparently another table had been able to eat and leave in the time we had been there which was crazy to me because we had just gotten our entrees and there was no one even sitting at that table when we arrived, so obviously they treated everyone downstairs much better and brought food much quicker. I was hesitant but it seemed like he wanted to make things right so I agreed to move. We moved downstairs and almost as soon as we sit down he comes over and asks if we want our entrees remade which to me felt like too much trouble and I felt bad so I asked “are you sure?”. This seemed to set him off and he starts berating us in front of the entire restaurant, people are looking over at us because he’s basically yelling at us like we’re children. It was extremely uncomfortable and at that point I just wanted to leave but he had asked for our food to be remade already. We had asked for it to go because we didn’t want it to go to waste but they refused and brought the food to the table anyway which was very passive aggressive. I didn’t even get to eat any of my entrees but we paid for the entire meal and left because we weren’t going to sit in a restaurant where we weren’t wanted. It was a very uncomfortable, isolating, and stressful dinner and I wish I just went to the restaurant I originally intended to go to.
TLDR: If you are not italian I would recommend eating somewhere else because they will not treat you as well.
05/12/2025: Every time I'm in Andria, I always return because the food is divine and the staff is fantastic, both in their service and preparation. This week, I've been every night to try the entire menu. The quality of the food is excellent, with always well-balanced flavors. They put all their effort into making everything work smoothly and satisfying every single customer. I'll definitely be back every time I'm in the area.
