05/05/2025: The decor is sublime, the service is high quality and the meal is excellent. We were pampered by the cook and the waiter. Gracie mille. If we come back to Arona we will come back to this boat restaurant. We recommend good cuisine and romantic settings to all art lovers.

04/05/2025: Es war ein tolles Erlebnis in einem solchen historischen Ambiente mit Blick auf den Lago Maggiore ein so feines Essen genießen zu können. Die Speisen waren ausgezeichnet, die Weinbegleitung dazu ebenfalls gut abgestimmt und der Service ausgesprochen freundlich. Für diese dargebotene Qualität des Essens und des Gesamterlebnisses war das Preisniveau überraschend niedrig. Wir können einen Besuch dieses historischen Schiffes nur empfehlen.

10/05/2025: Friendly service, cozy ambiance, well-maintained and clean. Regional, seasonal food. Excellent wine pairing. The nocciola semifreddo for dessert was particularly popular. The restroom was flawless.

27/05/2025: The experience at Retrò was not the best, especially for those with dietary requirements such as gluten-free. Having no alternative sandwiches, I had to order a burger with a scottona dish, which unfortunately arrived overcooked and lukewarm. The side fries were dry and almost cold, a sign of little attention in the kitchen. Despite everything, the dish was still charged at full price: €15 for a “sandwich without bread” is not a small amount at all. The only positive note was the presence of an Italian gluten-free craft beer, which I appreciated. There is certainly room for improvement, both in the offer and in the service. My partner's gin and tonic arrived with very melted ice and without even a slice of lime or lemon, paid €9.50

30/04/2025: I went on Friday 25th April, you had to queue to get a table. There were 4 of us, I waited 10 minutes, but then they let us sit right away! We had the aperitif with a platter made by them, 5 varieties, small portions, 2 glasses of chips as in the photo and a non-alcoholic cocktail for 4, €10 each! They could put a little more like pickles, olives, gherkins, but now everyone is saving money. The cocktail wasn't bad (Island) But it was like lemon juice with some syrup but they ran out of it and didn't add it! 🤦‍♀️Then since I had asked for no ice they gave us the smaller glass to put less stuff in!!!

25/04/2025: Venue in the characteristic square of Arona in front of Lake Maggiore with also live music Excellent cocktails different from the usual ones with imagination and interesting combinations. (the traditional ones are still very good) All with a truly gourmet finger food aperitif. Highly recommended

02/06/2025: We had dinner in this small, very quiet restaurant where they welcomed us with warmth and treated us with kindness (no longer a given). Unfortunately they got the order of the dishes wrong but it wasn't the end of the world. Anyway, pleasant food between fried dumplings with cold cuts, hamburgers and smoked angus. Small criticism: with almost €17 for a sandwich I expected at least a side of fried potatoes. For the rest, recommended.

16/05/2025: Good hamburger sandwich. Too bad the prices have gone up a lot in the last few years. Last time I spent: hamburger 15 euros, fries 4.5 euros, water 2.5 euros, service 2.5 euros. To replace (not add) an ingredient with another they asked 1.80 euros.

04/05/2025: I didn't know the Trattoria, but the experience was positive. Both the first courses (2 choices) and the second courses (3 choices) are good, portions not particularly large, but excellent quality and tasty food, I don't think there is any waste of food, nothing is left over from the plate. A dedicated menu was available to our neighbors, probably "Series A Customers" or long-time customers, including a fantastic plate of octopus, but not available to us. Good home cooking, clean environment and friendly staff.

18/03/2025: Home cooking, a spartan atmosphere, a true village bar

11/05/2025: We sit at the table at 1:00 PM, and at 1:15 PM we have to call the waiter, who otherwise didn't seem to have any intention of coming to take our orders. When he arrives, he huffs, but only a quarter of an hour had passed by then, so we can also think that he had simply forgotten. I ask if it was possible to make a change to the pinsa, but I receive a rather annoyed response. We order a focaccia to share and a first course each. The waiter asks us if we prefer to receive everything together or the appetizer first and the first courses shortly after; we opt for the second course. The focaccia arrives shortly after, but after an hour there is still no sign of the first courses. We call him back, he comes back huffing again. We ask him how the rest of the food is and he tells us, without even apologizing, that he had forgotten to send the order. When the first courses finally arrive, two pinsas are missing. The waiter looks at the two customers left without their plates with an annoyed expression and asks if they had ordered anything. We remember the two pinsas, he huffs again and goes back to the kitchen, from which, luckily, the pizzas come out shortly after. We get to the time of the bill. We decide not to order dessert to avoid further inconvenience and we notice that an extra place setting has been marked, which we point out directly to the cashier to avoid further inconvenience. Nothing to say about the food, which is always very good. It's a real shame about the service. I understand that everyone can have a bad day and not be at their best, but when you choose to work in contact with the public, respect for customers should be guaranteed, always.

06/05/2025: Spectacular location, but after a long climb on foot, my fault for not having booked, we found a crowd of people, where the waitress or perhaps the owner, desperate and tired from the many people, told us that there were only two seats, but there were 4 people together before us, but two people who came later with cunning and rudeness took a seat. At this point the 4, seeing the smart ones, made them get up. Bottom line, two more seats became available, but to eat you had to wait maybe 40 minutes. The same cunning and rude people from before sat down again, with enormous difficulty for the patient waitress. To avoid ruining our romantic evening, we left not before expressing their enormous rudeness to the two. Too bad, that'll be for another time. The nice thing was that we found the Osteria d'Asti where we were literally pampered by the restaurant with excellent typical Neapolitan dishes. Highly recommended
