12/04/2026: I found myself alone in Piombino for work and, intrigued by the reviews, I decided to dine at Taverna dei Boncompagni.
The quality of the food (from appetizer to dessert) and the service were superb.
The skate and the dry-aged snapper took me back to Japan, the risotto delicious, the yuzu dessert a refreshing finish to cleanse the palate.
Simone was a unique host, demonstrating great hospitality and an in-depth knowledge of the ingredients and wines.
The #1 restaurant in the area, I recommend everyone to try it!

If you're considering eating here, do yourself a favor and don't. This place is the opposite of what it advertises. We paid €3 per person for “coperto” and received five tiny, tasteless bread slices that felt like leftovers from a hospital tray.
The “pasta with octopus” was actually six overcooked ravioli — 20€ for six pieces. That's not a portion, that's a joke. The sauce tasted like someone stopped caring halfway through. As a certified cook, I can say confidently: this wasn't a meal, it was a rip‑off.
The total bill was €50, for mediocre food, and an experience I wouldn't repeat. In a room that was already too hot its still an experience.
The staff was basic. The view was basic, nothing special, and the whole place felt tired.
The toilet? Broken handle, no urinal, everyone forced to aim at the same tiny bowl, and the light turns off while you're sitting there. It feels like a design flaw nobody bothered to fix.
And honestly, the only genuinely beautiful thing about the whole place were the waitress's eyes -
Nice eyes don't save a bad restaurant.
In short:
Overpriced, underwhelming, uncomfortable, forgettable.
The only thing you'll remember is the disappointment.

28/04/2026: I come here often. The grilled fish melts in your mouth; my boyfriend and I order it every time we come. I also recommend the linguine with mixed seafood, the caciucco, the pasta caciuccata, and the peppered mussels. The view of Piombino is also a standout, as the restaurant is on the main street, just steps from the sea.
10/04/2026: Wonderful place. The staff is super attentive, kind, and friendly! The food is plentiful and delicious, and reasonably priced. I'll definitely be back.

02/05/2026: We ate a plate of rice with squid ink, a very small portion, a small plate of cacciucco and two desserts. We paid €90, which seems really dishonest to me.
28/04/2026: Given its location and decor, this restaurant deserves much better management. A terrible experience due to a complete lack of professionalism. I made a reservation for 1:30 but showed up early. I asked a very rude waitress if it was possible to change tables due to the wind, and she gave me a rude answer. A gentleman who always seems kind and friendly, to be honest, arrives and immediately moves me inside. I order an appetizer of fish balls (three mini fried meatballs smothered in mayonnaise, I think; they fry in a couple of minutes, Ed.) WHILE WAITING for the spaghetti to cook. After 45 minutes, I asked for an explanation and was told they were NOW frying them. I asked to cancel the order and proceed with the spaghetti, and contrary to the apologies I expected, I received rude and argumentative comments from both the waitress and an extremely rude and disrespectful woman who, I later discovered, was part of the owner family. What can I say... after 55 minutes, I said goodbye and left. To be completely honest, I'll point out that I asked to pay for the glasses of wine I had consumed (partially), and the polite and courteous gentleman (whom I hope will one day work in a place worthy of his kindness and courtesy) refused to accept payment, while the "owner" continued to be rude and indecent. Yet I had been there the previous year and had a pleasant experience, even being surprised by the very low review scores. Today, however, I can explain it very clearly. I hope all Baratti users will sooner or later sell to someone more capable, because they don't deserve the privilege of such an exceptional position.

Congratulations, you've managed to further discredit yourselves. Given that it's clear you're incapable of serving 50-60 people in a timely manner, the problem wasn't the time, but your lack of respect and rudeness, which, reading the negative reviews, seems to be a hallmark of yours. Perhaps you'd learn to apologize, and perhaps the time will be less of an issue. I believe you've been there since 1985. Unfortunately, they fall for it. But you don't deserve it.

24/04/2026: The menu is only in Italian! So it's not a tourist trap! A variety of seafood and fish dishes are available, and we recommend pairing them with a local Vermentino wine. Friendly service – also only in Italian, of course! And a beautiful view of the Bay of Baratti.

02/06/2025: Familiär geführtes Lokal. Sehr gemütlich. Sehr freundliche und aufmerksame Bedienung. Vielfältige Speisekarte. Die Teige für Pizza werden wird mit Bio-Mehl und anderem Getreide gemacht. Das schmeckte uns hervorragend. Essen war jedes Mal sehr gut. Preiswert!
26/02/2025: Sono andato un sabato per prenotare per l'otto marzo (quasi due settimane prima della Festa della donna) entro chiedo se è possibile prenotare, ma vengo "liquidato" così: <è sabato abbiamo da fare! (locale in parte vuoto), torna in settimana!>, In settimana invece di passarci chiamo per effettuare la prenotazione, chiedo se è possibile prenotare per circa 12/14 persone e mi sento rispondere: e hanno attaccato. Capisco che l'otto marzo per la festa della donna il locale potrebbe essere pieno, ma, se magari mi avessero fatto prenotare quasi due settimane prima, forse avrei trovato posto. Mi sono sentito preso in giro per la loro poca professionalità e il modo nel quale sono stato trattato. Mi dispiace, ma per me e i miei amici questo locale letteralmente "non esiste più".

02/08/2025: Siamo stati veramente bene.. sopra le nostre aspettative. Abbiamo preso un crudite’ favoloso e il fritto servito bene e molto buono. I dolci: la conclusione perfetta di questa ottima cena. Torneremo sicuramente!
27/07/2025: Bel ristorante sul mare con vista stupenda dalla terrazza. Prezzi medio-alti ma adeguati alla tipologia di locale. Qualche piccola imprecisione sul servizio da parte dei camerieri più giovani: dopo circa 15 min di vana attesa abbiamo dovuto chiamare noi per ordinare dolce e caffè perché i camerieri che passavano non ci consideravano, nè hanno notato la giacca della mia compagna caduta a terra dalla sedia, nonostante avessero sparecchiato proprio il tavolo adiacente... nulla di grave, ma visto che il locale vuole darsi un certo tono è giusto segnalarlo. Cena iniziata non benissimo con gli antipasti: calamaro ripieno deludente, l'unico piatto a mio avviso con rapporto qualità-prezzo inadeguato. Le cose sono poi via via migliorate con il risotto cacciuccato, buono e in porzione corretta, e una strepitosa grigliata di pesce, con tante varietà tutte cotte alla perfezione e un bellissimo impiattamento : nella forma piatto consono al livello del locale, nella sostanza una delle migliori grigliate mai mangiate... bravi davvero ! Ottimi anche i dolci, in particolare le cialde di cannolo siciliano con una buonissima crema di ricotta. Impresentabile il pane: in un locale di questo livello ho sempre trovato almeno 2-3 varietà di panificati home made (grissini, sfoglie croccanti, panini tradizionali...), e se proprio si opta per delle anonime fette di pane almeno che siano di buona qualità, vista la grande tradizione del pane toscano. In definitiva ottima cena in un bel locale, che con qualche piccolo aggiustamento può raggiungere il top.
