08/09/2025: For over 20 years, I've been passing through San Fruttuoso at least once a year. I've eaten at the restaurant several times, and despite the decidedly high prices, I've always thought it was worth it for the splendid view and the color of the sea. Now the prices have reached levels that are truly unsustainable except for the wealthy. But on Saturday, I witnessed a truly unbearable scene. Hundreds of people crowded into a few square meters, and the manager of the "beach establishment" (can you call it that?), the same manager as the restaurant, was arrogantly lording it over the place. The sunbeds were dirty and stuck together, costing €50 each. A man in his fifties came for a swim with his wife and set down his towel and bag 50 cm from the water's edge; the manager immediately arrived to ask what he wanted, and the man pointed out that he was practically on the water's edge and that the distance between the sunbeds and the water's edge hadn't been respected. I don't know what they said, but at a certain point the man walked away after finding a gap between two towels. Meanwhile, the manager clearly faked a call to the coast guard (I was right next to him at the time and had noticed his bluff), speaking loudly to make himself heard. Truly ridiculous, since the Camogli-San Fruttuoso coast guard was closed that day. Speaking with the man, I and other beachgoers made ourselves available as witnesses for any complaint the aforementioned man intends to file. To make a long story short: sunbeds dirty and stuck together, no respect for the legal distances between sunbeds, umbrellas, and the shoreline, the same lifeguard who moved sunbeds and umbrellas also carried food to the tables without first washing his hands. The shower, if you can call it that (an old showerhead salvaged from a bathroom), was malfunctioning and could only be used with a token. €25 for spaghetti with clams and €35 ​​for a main course. I haven't seen a single receipt issued for sun loungers and umbrellas, but I'd noticed this a couple of years ago. I still think it's a good idea to regulate the arrival of the public at these tiny beaches, where the managers are vultures and there's nowhere to sit. I'll only return out of season and bring a nice focaccia. The cost of the ferry is enough already.

06/09/2025: This restaurant in San Fruttuoso is mediocre, if not terrible. Except for the fried fish, the spaghetti dish was unworthy (sour, floating in oil, and of questionable quality). Not to mention the focaccia (it's hard to find such an inedible focaccia in Liguria). I'll conclude with the price: while the high supply costs are understandable, and despite being in a wonderful location, it's far too high: €98 for a fried fish dish, two plates of spaghetti, water, and a small beer. This isn't Italian cuisine, italian cuisine is good instead.

27/06/2025: Un luogo accogliente con personale gentile e disponibile. I piatti poi sono di qualità, cucinati con ingredienti freschi e di stagione. È un ristorante adatto a coppie, famiglie (anche con animali), pranzi di lavoro e cerimonie. Insomma, qui potete apprezzare la vera cucina casalinga.

21/06/2025: Ravioli con ragù, strepitosi! Poi muscoli ripieni e calamari con verdure indimenticabili. Tutto ottimo anche il prezzo. Serviti con amore, gentilezza e professionalità. Super consigliato!!

24/04/2025: Siamo stati in questo locale visitando Finalborgo, pranzato all'aperto in piazza e trovato ottima la soluzione di poter scegliere tipo di pasta e sughi. Servizio veloce e personale cortese. Qualità buona, consigliato se ci passate.

16/04/2025: Tourist Trap. Personale scortese, abbiamo trovato un sasso nel piatto e quando lo abbiamo reclamato, il proprietario ci ha risposto che è normale trovare sassi nel piatto perché il pesce che propongono è fresco. Ancora non capiamo il nesso tra le due cose. Il piatto era stato mandato indietro e alla mia amica non è stato proposto di rifare la portata. Alla cassa ci hanno fatto comunque pagare anche il piatto con il sasso nonostante fosse per almeno la metà pieno. Inoltre il proprietario ci ha accusate di aver sottolineato il problema perché non volevamo pagare, mettendo in dubbio la nostra onestà. A livello di qualità del cibo mi dispiace ma nessuno dei piatti 3 piatti a base di pesce aveva un ottimo sapore ( nonostante le allusioni alla freschezza), inoltre le vongole erano piene di sabbia. Il pesto ordinato dalla 4a persona era leggermente acido. Rispecchia perfettamente gli stereotipi sulla ristorazione italiana con core business i turisti.

12/07/2025: I'd been there once for dinner with friends, and it was already pretty bad. I tried again in mid-June because the other restaurants in Varazze were all full, NEVER again. Besides, you should know that their spaghetti with clams is spicy, to die for, so if you order it for a child, it'll all be left on the plate. Last time, it was dry and bland. The shrimp pasta was heavy with cream. The fried anchovies were awful. All the fish on the menu was frozen. It's absurd to be at the seaside without having any fresh fish. The service is terrible. They're surly and rude, so I'll never set foot there again.

03/06/2025: La ubicación es agradable. A pesar de que hice una reserva dos semanas antes de que nos sentáramos en una mesa bajo el sol, pedimos también sentarse en una mesa cercana, pero nos dijeron que es una mesa para tres. Pocos minutos después una pareja sin ninguna reserva se sentó allí. La señora gerente / propietario a cargo era muy grosero y desagradable. El servicio y la comida eran promedio, la relación calidad-precio era baja, incluso para Portofino.

27/05/2025: Después de dos comidas anteriores decepcionantes en Portofino, buscamos el restaurante más inteligente con el menú más imaginativo, en una ubicación fabulosa, para disfrutar realmente de nuestra última noche en este hermoso pueblo. O’Magazin marcó todas las casillas y nos sentamos junto al agua con personal amable, buen vino (a 20€ por copa) y una deliciosa cesta de pan con aceite. Estábamos emocionados de que nuestra comida llegara. Y entonces los buenos tiempos terminaron. Tal vez deberíamos haber adivinado cuando no nos preguntaron cómo se cocinaría el bistec. El filete llegó nadando en una cantidad ridícula de salsa y acompañado de nada ni siquiera adorno. Así que rápidamente pedimos un poco de fritas que llegaron rápidamente y apenas cubrieron el fondo del plato. El filete estaba tan duro que raspamos la salsa para mirarlo y estaba gris, casi nacarado. Con retrospectiva deberíamos haber enviado de vuelta, pero en realidad estábamos tratando de tener una experiencia gastronómica satisfactoria. Mis propios medallones de atún también fueron asfixiados en salsa / aceite con tomates y aceitunas. El atún estaba demasiado cocido y había reposado demasiado tiempo antes de ser servido. Ninguno de los dos hizo ningún progreso con nuestra comida y pagó la cuenta y se fue. El personal sonriente y alegre y la hermosa ubicación no compensaron la peor comida que he encontrado. La factura era escandalosa con frituras a 12€ por persona. Acepto que debería haberme quejado mientras estaba en el restaurante, pero la mala comida en Portofino me había desgastado. Al día siguiente la ciudad se redimió en Portofino Bistro, casi al lado de O’Magazin y estoy feliz de darle una crítica fabulosa.

01/09/2025: Today I went to this city with 5 friends and we decided to try some italian food. After some time we decided to eat some food from a different restaurant , according to plan we already ate some pizza from another restaurant then we went to this restaurant. The server lady forced to us to take 5 menu/5 plats for 5 persons (minimum). We ate around 43 euro but they charged us extra about 13 euro without any notice and even they served us a tap water, even though she didn't give a bill/ticket. Food was tasty (4.5/5) Service (0/5 ):Very Rude and late

22/08/2025: After 45 minutes of waiting to take our order and several reminders, the waitress ignored us. We left, worse service, it's ridiculous!

02/05/2025: Abbiamo preso due semplici pizze… stiamo stati malissimo. Non consiglio assolutamente. Non fatevi ingannare dalla postazione e neppure dal personale fin troppo gentile… dietro c’è l’inganno.
