10/07/2025: Tiny portions, an exorbitant bill... and the icing on the cake: they charged me for the olive oil "tasting." Just a few drops, as if it were French perfume.

10/07/2025: An experience to forget. We went to this restaurant with high expectations, but we left hungry and in disbelief. The portions were ridiculously small, so much so that it felt more like a forced tasting than a proper meal. The climax came when, after asking for a little olive oil to accompany the bread, we found that oil was added to our bill... as if we'd asked for a tasting of fine oils, without being informed or even interested. Absurd. A small but significant gesture: instead of offering a drizzle of oil as is done in any trattoria with a modicum of hospitality, they decided to charge for it. A shame, because it would have taken so little to make the experience more enjoyable. Instead, we felt cheated. We won't be returning, and we won't recommend it.

30/06/2025: I would like to point out that the new management has been here for only 3 months and that all the NEGATIVE reviews are part of the old management that, most likely, made a bit of a mess. Tonight my wife and I ate some really excellent fish, and not only for the quality but also for the refinement of the dishes. The guy who served us was very nice and competent and the location was very soft and beautiful. GO WITHOUT TAKING TOO MUCH ACCOUNT OF THE 3.7 (Google review score)…YOU WILL BE SATISFIED!

09/04/2025: Con i miei amici gastronomi, abbiamo scelto la Locanda dell’Abate a Montescaglioso per un pranzo fuori porta. Siamo stati accolti con grande cordialità, e lo chef e titolare, il signor Giuseppe, ci ha guidati nella scelta dei vini per accompagnare l’esperienza. L’antipasto di mare ci ha conquistati con il tentacolo di polpo arrosto e le seppie cotte nel mezzo limone, sprigionando profumi delicati e un perfetto equilibrio tra tenerezza e acidità. Il legame con il territorio si è fatto sentire con la cipolla in agro. I ravioli di pesce, avvolti in una salsa di pomodoro leggermente acidula, hanno offerto un contrasto raffinato, mentre i gamberoni in crosta sono stati semplicemente eccellenti. L’atmosfera raccolta, grazie ai pochi tavoli in sala, ha reso la conversazione piacevole e conviviale. Concludiamo questa esperienza domenicale con un plauso allo chef Giuseppe per l’ottima organizzazione e la qualità delle portate. Torneremo presto!

07/07/2025: Recommended by friends, we went to dinner at this restaurant as a couple, we had two appetizers and two seafood risottos. Very poor appetizer as you can see from the photo, 3 marinated anchovies, 5 shrimp and some pieces of octopus (also quite hard) €16.00, decent risotto, 1/2 liter of low quality house wine €6.00, 1 natural water 0.75, 1 portion of fruit, all for the modest price of €81.50. As far as I'm concerned, an experience not to be repeated.

02/05/2025: Struttura un po' datata. Personale accogliente. Menù abbastanza soddisfacente. Materia prima abbastanza buona. Buoni gli antipasti e la fritturina di pesce. Per i primi un NI: è difficile saper cucinare un primo piatto di pesce senza troppi fronzoli, esaltando i sapori dei molluschi senza mortificarli con altro. Prezzi nella norma.

12/07/2025: We chose this restaurant tempted by the reviews of other customers. When we arrived we thought we had the wrong place, but as soon as we entered we were overwhelmed by colors, aromas, chatter, and smiles!!! We were welcomed by a lady with a jovial smile who apologized but, since we hadn't booked, she could only seat us at an outdoor table. We didn't really like eating outside, but we stayed and here he came. Once seated, the waiter/owner/fisherman, after a chat, chose our dishes and... go there!!! Highly recommended!!! We had marinated grouper, crab frizulli, and fried mixed seafood, spectacular, and even the sweet hazelnut cremino was just as good!! When it came to the bill, we were offered a free amaro! Reasonable prices for what you get, we'll be back.

27/08/2024: Era da tempo che non ci godevamo una cena di pesce con tanta soddisfazione, oltre alla qualità e le porzioni veramente abbondanti, il servizio, tutto gestito in famiglia dalla cucina ai tavoli non è stato da meno, assolutamente da provare questa esperienza di impresa familiare personalmente quando rimango così soddisfatto il mio umore migliora.

30/05/2025: Ritornare è sempre piacevole, la splendida location e l'accoglienza gradevole regalano da subito una bella atmosfera. Abbiamo scelto di pranzare a base di pesce e con stupore abbiamo trovato dei ricci di mare ottimi. Il crudo profumato e di buona qualità ha deliziato il palato. Il primo piatto linguine ai ricci di mare meritava di più, eviterei il contenitore a forma di riccio. Buona la grigliata e la frittura, a parte il pesce spada su cui credo ci sia stato del succo di limone che se pur minimo ha tolto un po' il sapore. Il dessert un ottima conclusione. Consigliatissimo
