The staff are always attentive to every need, the owner Michele is a true professional in the sector, the dining room staff excellent, Angela always attentive to everything in the dining room, truly a force within the team. For everything, 5 stars are due, because quality must always be highlighted. Congratulations indeed. A must-see in San Giovanni Rotondo. See you next time.
29/12/2025: We had a wonderful time at this Osteria. The service is excellent, with various thoughtful touches that are always appreciated: complimentary bruschetta, a smile, and attentive service. The food is generally good, although it's a shame the grilled vegetables were frozen. Prices are quite low, even very low when you look at the wine list. There's a large parking lot next to the restaurant.

The food was the true star of the evening: authentic dishes, intense flavors, and impeccable presentation. The desserts, made directly by the inn, were exquisite and a fitting end to an excellent dinner.
The staff was extremely kind and professional, from the telephone reservation to the welcome at the table. The waiters listed the dishes with passion and expertise, making the choice even more enjoyable.
The location is unique and charming, located in the heart of Mattinata's historic center. The covered terrace, enclosed by glass windows, made for a warm and welcoming evening, despite the weather outside being less than ideal.
Special highlights: the local scaldatelli, the delicious olives, the chilled sparkling water, and the impeccable presentation of the dishes.
A place I highly recommend and will definitely return to. It's always a pleasure to find places like this, where the quality of the food and hospitality come together to create an unforgettable experience.

13/12/2025: A truly positive experience. The freshest fish, cooked to perfection. The homemade desserts are also highly recommended. In winter, the warm atmosphere creates a Christmassy atmosphere. In spring and summer, the terrace with its breathtaking views of the Gargano offers a romantic and evocative setting.

30/11/2025: Our first time at the embassy for lunch. They were friendly, right from the phone reservation. We ordered the tasting menu for €40 per person, excluding drinks and service charge. There were so many courses, each one better than the last. The food was high-quality, but cooked simply and authentically. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back.

27/09/2025: It's hard to imagine a more beautiful place for a wonderful dinner. The food itself – mainly fish and seafood – is truly excellent, and the price-performance ratio is excellent. The freshly baked, delicious bread is also a real highlight. Add to that the fantastic atmosphere and the attentive service, and you'll have a truly unforgettable experience. But the tables with your feet in the sand are the icing on the cake. We'd love to come back! Grazie mille!

19/10/2025: We are staying not far from Donna Maria and were looking for something nice for dinner. We found just what we were looking for.
The bread seems to be a house made loaf which is a pleasant change from some who just drop some rando bread in a basket on the table. This bread is good quality.
We began with beef carppacio which was delicious, especially the olive paste which provided a natural salty component.
My wife had gnocchi with lamb ragu and I enjoyed the mezzi ziti with a rich beef sauce. Both just wonderful dishes. Especially with Negroamaro to pair with.
We finished with a Crema di ricotta pugliese dessert that's a regional favorite.
It was a wonderful meal and the staff were professional and friendly.

03/01/2026: A welcoming, family atmosphere. The owners are attentive and friendly. We went for lunch at 3:00 PM, having just arrived in Vieste, and they welcomed us with a smile. The food was excellent and the portions generous, so much so that we were happy to return.

07/01/2026: In an age where "traditional" cuisine often means shortcuts and superficial nostalgia, Osteria n'do Saverio lu Conte is a breath of fresh air. Here, tradition isn't an aesthetic, it's a conscious practice. Let's start with the appetizer. Mixed bruschetta prepared to order with creams of wild herbs—not store-bought herbs, herbs picked on the trail. Caciocavallo, dried tomatoes, pistachios. Nothing extravagant, everything perfectly proportioned. The cheeses of the San Lorenzo Valley are where the vision becomes clear: goat's ricotta and four primosales, each with its own identity (orange, lemon, walnut, arugula). These aren't gimmick variations; they're the result of genuine research. The first course, "t'agg invitet a maccarun e carne," is made with re-milled buckwheat semolina. Simple? Yes. But behind that choice lies the understanding that buckwheat has a lower gluten content, better digestibility, and a more delicate flavor profile. It's cuisine that thinks. The second course is where everything converges: 'u soffritt, the dish that defines Bovino cuisine. Black Salecchia pig, raised on acorns, not industrial feed. The difference is evident in every bite—meat that tastes of something, that smells, that tells a story. Low in fat, low in cholesterol, but full of flavor. The aged cheeses paired with apple and pear demonstrate an understanding of gastronomy that goes beyond the recipe book: the vitamins in the fruit neutralize the salts of aging. It's science applied to pleasure. The farm's olive oil, the family's local wine, the absence of artifice—everything contributes to an experience that is not touristy, it is authentic.
07/01/2026: A very pleasant experience. A true leap back in time, with its strengths and weaknesses. Simple, flavorful, and substantial cuisine, with some ingredients clearly artisanal (I challenge you to find industrially produced asparagus, thickly sliced eggplant, or red garlic in oil), others plucked directly from the supermarket shelf (mushrooms, and something else). Mr. Saverio will tell us that everything is family-made, and we pretend to believe him; the fact remains that the primosale caciotta and the aged cheeses didn't have the air or flavor of Galbani or Auricchio. The ragù with pork rinds is prepared only by those who want to offer truly local recipes, as is the prosciutto, cut into chunks rather than slices. So I understand many people's doubts (the dining room kitchen is admittedly not the most hygienic, and the chef doesn't seem to be up to HACCP standards, and even the bathroom is for those who know how to adapt), but I believe that if you enter an osteria in the right mood, you won't leave disappointed; it's a leap back in time, and in the 1960s, osterias were like that. To those who feel cheated by the innkeeper and the chef, I offer De André's words: "If you think and judge like a good bourgeois, you'll condemn them to five thousand years plus expenses.
But if you understand, if you search for them thoroughly, if they aren't lilies, they're still children, victims of this world."

Unfortunately, our visit was a disappointment – even though we were really looking forward to it after reading so many good reviews.
The service was completely overwhelmed: only one waiter was allowed to take orders, the others seemed to wander around aimlessly, only allowed to serve or clear away. The wait was correspondingly long – and even when our glasses were long empty, no one thought to ask if we wanted something else to drink.
Our child's meal arrived 20 minutes before the adults', and our plates arrived one by one with an even longer delay. Nothing is more uncomfortable than when one person at a table is already finished while another is just getting started.
The playground area was also a disappointment: there was a charge, although this wasn't clearly communicated anywhere – neither on the website nor on Facebook. We came specifically for that.
Food? Mediocre. The pasta and pizza were okay, the meat was actually good – but when the wrong side dishes arrive (four sad potato slices for €5 instead of fries!) and the "mixed salad" consists only of green salad, without the fennel or cucumbers as advertised, you eventually lose patience.
The ambiance is nice, yes. But a beautiful wooden house alone doesn't make a good restaurant. Anyone who relies on its view instead of organization, service, and honesty won't have satisfied customers in the long run.
By the way, we then had to wait another 30 minutes for the bill – a worthy end to a frustrating evening.
Conclusion:
Nice restaurant, unfortunately with a lot of show and little substance. Three stars – only because the meat was really good.
18/10/2025: Arrived at a nearby agriturismo/masseria whose restaurant was closed for the season. Googled and found Chalet Degli Ulivi. Great find.
Being Saturday night our last minute reservation using What's App got us outside but under cover. The restaurant provided a wrap for my wife. Nice touch.
We started with the caciocavallo al forno. Who doesn't love good melted chesse? And this was good.
I had the Bombette Pugliesi and these were great, the potatoes also delicious. My wife enjoyed the iberico pork which was devine! Amazingly tender texture and full of flavor.
All paired nicely with a wonderful, bold yet mature fruit balanced palate primitivo.
We finished with an amazing tiramisu. So many tiramisu are just so so, this one was both delicious and cleverly presented in a flower pot.
This was a wonderful meal.

18/10/2025: We were here just for dinner - we liked it. It's not the season anymore, so there are very few tourists, and there was no need to book a table in advance - we did it in person the day before without any problems.
The staff speaks English. The service is excellent, unobtrusive and appropriate. We didn't take the complimentary wine, but the offered glass of white was very pleasant and went well with dinner.
We had a table by the window, but, unfortunately, it was raining heavily all evening, so neither the stars nor the moon above the sea were visible, and in principle nothing was visible out the window)))), but this did not prevent us from enjoying the taste and conversation.
In addition to delicious food, the restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere, beautiful bright design. If we are in these places, we will definitely come back to try the next menu. Thank you for the wonderful experience and mood! Citrus notes in the dishes were wonderful!:)
15/10/2025: I found a warm welcome, hospitality, and excellent, simple vegetarian cuisine, as well as the wine pairings. The dining room and sea view are breathtaking, and even the room I chose with its terrace allowed me to enjoy a wonderful sunrise. Thank you, AnnaLisa and staff.

22/09/2025: We were there a week ago and had a wonderful time. The terrace overlooking the sea is priceless, and we enjoyed a breathtaking sunset. The service was attentive. After a selection of appetizers (delicious stuffed mussels, marinated anchovies and mussels, and the classic Apulian bruschetta with cherry tomatoes and burrata), the truly knowledgeable waiter suggested an off-menu dish that we agreed to try: excellent orecchiette with clams, Foresta Umbra clams, and bottarga. Delicious.
The price was proportionate to the ingredients, the kitchen's skill, and the location.
WELL DONE.
Highly recommended.
