12/05/2026: Stumble upon this cute, beautiful & totally relaxing restaurant thru our booking of learning how to make gnocchi w a view, and boy..did we get lucked out. What a beautiful hidden gem! Gorgeous view from above looking down to the village below, the view and the setting will surely put you in a "la dolce vida" mood.
The food is amazing w great staffs! Friendly, fun & just the right amount of attention without be overbearing. Im not even a fan of gnocchi but w the way they made it w pesto, im a huge fan now.
Thank you to the owner for picking us up at meeting point & drive us up, thank you to the chef for making it fun! Everyone who visit this village should make a point to visit this restaurant, you will be in for a treat! 🌟✨️

14/05/2026: I would like to express our great disappointment regarding our meal at your restaurant.
The beef I ordered was cold and had a sour, bitter taste. Honestly, it gave the impression that the meat was spoiled.
My children’s lasagna was also served cold, which is unacceptable for dishes served at the table.
As for my wife’s pasta, it was simply average, nothing more.
We are very disappointed with this experience and hope that you will take this feedback seriously.

19/05/2026: If you are staying in Monterosso or even traveling to Cinque Terre, Il Casello is a must visit! We stopped here the first night and were lucky enough to get a table outside without a reservation (definitely call ahead if you can). We were promptly greeted by friendly servers and sat with a spectacular view. Great selection of wine and food. The first night we had the stuffed mussels and then the gnocchi and local fish with lemon sauce. Everything was absolutely delicious! Finished with their house made tiramisu which was spectacular. One of the owners, Jennifer, was so great and made sure that everything was perfect. We came back on our last night because we loved it so much. We had the award wining stuffed anchovies (highly recommend!!) and the octopus ragu pasta and the seafood spaghetti. Again, everything was terrific. You cannot beat the service, the view, and the food. Cannot recommend this place enough! We cannot wait to come back once we are able to visit Cinque Terre again. Thank you Jennifer!

27/10/2025: Ely has been our "pizza night" place for years and we really enjoy it. Occasionally we have other things and this year we had one of their pasta daily specials, a ravioli perhaps with truffle and burrata (sorry it was 1 1/2 months ago)……omg, it was so amazing. Though it is no longer on the menu, we also appreciated them making the mussels in white wine and lemon.

16/06/2026: As a family with celiac, we were excited about this location. It was downhill from there. While the appetizers of mozzarella and tomatoes along with the fried zucchini were pretty good, the main courses were awful. My daughter got the pesto pasta and said it was the worst meal she has had in our entire two weeks in Europe so far. She just described it as simply terrible. I got the fish and chips (not GF) and they looked like they had come straight out of a freezer bag. They were the perfect wedge shaped pieces. They were a local fish and it was very fishy. I have had fish and chips all over the UK and many other countries and this was by far the worst tasting. If you come here, at least don’t get these two main course options.
We got tiramisu for dessert (as we have almost daily our entire trip rotating between tiramisu and gelato) and while this was middle of the road, it was nothing to write home about and I would rate as just decent. (While decent, all other tiramisu we have tried has been better)
If you are gluten free / celiac then you can get safe food to eat here, but just don’t expect it to necessarily taste good. If you can find somewhere else then I would take that option.

19/04/2026: Extremely rude waitresses. Could not believe how rude each of them were. Food ok but expensive. Would not recommend even though it was recommended by our hotel.
19/04/2026: Upon arrival, we asked if we could choose a spot on the outdoor terrace. We were told that we could sit wherever we wanted. Afterwards, when paying the bill, it turned out that an extra €3 per person was charged for where we sat. This is not something that was told to us beforehand.

28/04/2026: Just off one of the main streets down a quieter paths. Was one of our best meals in all of Italy. The owner/waiter was great and his suggestions were amazing.
First time having citrus pesto and will be trying to recreate it forever.

22/07/2025: Muy buena comida Recomiendo la pasta pesto - sin embargo, tenga en cuenta que el hombre de pie fuera del restaurante con sus gatos tratando de que las mujeres vayan a su lugar diciéndoles que puede cocinar para ellos. Realmente no me sentí el más seguro. . Fue un poco incómodo porque se quedó al lado de la cena al aire libre todo el tiempo.

26/07/2025: Ristorante pizzeria in una via un po fuori dal centro di monterosso con un menù a base di pesce e qualche altro piatto ed è pure pizzeria.
Ho mangiato una insalata di polipo eccezionale gustosa e abbondante accompagnata da una vellutata di patate buonissima.
Poi trofie con pesto e patate veramente buone.
Peccato per le cozze ripiene da cui mi aspettavo di più in quanto si sentiva solo il ripieno molto abbondante e le cozze così sono sparite. Peccato perché avrei dato volentieri il punteggio più alto

14/05/2025: Normalerweise bewerte ich nur Restaurants in denen wir gute Erfahrungen gemacht haben, um die Leistung von Küche und Service wertzuschätzen. In diesem Fall muss ich leider eine Ausnahme machen, weil es bisher die schlechteste Erfahrung gewesen ist, die wir je gemacht haben.
Monterosso ist natürlich ein Ort, in dem viele Touristen unterwegs sind und einen freien Tisch zum Essen suchen, deshalb scheint sich das Personal und ebenso die Küche nicht um einen Gast zu bemühen, auf Stammgäste ist das Konzept ja auch nicht ausgelegt und die Trinkgelder sind auch gesichert, da sie gleich mit auf der Rechnung stehen, wir aber gerne bei gutem Essen und freundlichem Personal noch zusätzlich Trinkgeld geben. Der Kellner wirkte völlig lustlos, hat uns mit einer Geste einen Tisch zugewiesen, auf unsere Begrüßung gar nicht reagiert. Auf eine freundliche Bitte, uns Salz zu bringen, wurde zwar signalisiert, dass man es uns bringt, das war es dann aber leider auch. Mein Mann ist nach 10 Minuten selbst nach drinnen ins Lokal gegangen und hat eine Kellnerin um Salz gebeten, die ihm einen Salzstreuer gegeben hat, da war das geschmacklose Tagliata Manzone leider schon kalt, schade.

18/05/2025: Fuimos aquí por el tiramisú senza glutine. Se servía en el recipiente de plástico en el que se compraba. Sabía bien. Mi marido tenía el pastel de limón. Esto era todo lo que teníamos y nos cobraron un cargo de cobertura de 4 € en la parte superior de la factura. Esto fue muy decepcionante.
