02/08/2024: Been coming here every morning for breakfast. Keep in mind breakfast in Italy means coffee and typically a croissant. The coffee and pastries are very good, service is friendly and very accommodating to my “super size” latte request every morning.

04/08/2024: The place is beautiful, and that's the only positive note. The service was friendly on the surface, but they pushed you to hastily order the dishes they wanted (which probably bring an excellent margin). Also at one point they almost took our plates without us having finished. The swordfish was not good, quite dry. And for dessert we ordered a pistachio truffle and they brought us something unrecognizable, a little melted ... And 1 minute later, at the next table, a pistachio truffle from Pizzo arrived which was what we were expecting too . We complained but they made us pay anyway.... 45 eur/person without having missed anything in particular (drinks water + 1/4 house wine). Overall a poor experience. They take advantage of the suggestive place to attract tourists and have as many tables as possible, with as wide a margin as possible. I highly recommend moving on or stopping first.

20/07/2024: Siamo stai accolti per la prima volta nell’agosto 2022 tornavamo dalla Sicilia e alla nave c’erano ritardi, avevamo i bimbi piccoli e molto affamati. Abbiamo provato a chiamare sperando che qualcuno rispondesse e spiegare in che situazione ci trovavamo e abbiamo avuto una risposta che ancora oggi mi riempie il cuore ( venite che ci penso io) e addirittura prima dell’ apertura regolare, la signora Franca proprietaria e cuoca ci ha accolto come solo una Nonna o Mamma del Sud saprebbe fare, ha un grande cuore e cucina piatti tipici calabresi con amore,dedizione ma soprattutto con ingredienti tipici e freschissimi, Io dopo quella esperienza non riesco a passare per Rosarno senza venire da Lei. Vi consiglio in primis la peperonata la più buona che io abbia mai mangiato e non vi nascondo che ne faccio preparare anche porzioni da portare a casa e gustarla il giorno dopo… che dire lunga vita alla Signora Franca e a persone come lei che fanno della ristorazione uno stile di vita e conservano i sapori di un tempo… con immenso affetto Giuseppe Giuffrida e Famiglia

22/08/2024: 55 minute wait for a poor tasting and poor quality appetizer with solicitation of lack of courses (samples of snails, I don't know meatballs, prawns with mayonnaise, transparent carpaccio). Poor service. Coffee in the paper cup. I won't add anything else

09/08/2024: Truly excellent! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A round of applause to chef Nino Gramuglia; excellent host who tastefully furnished the place, welcomes guests politely, advises delicately and accompanies customers skilfully throughout the meal. 👌🏼 The dishes were truly excellent and well presented, accompanied by excellent bread and artisanal breadsticks (most likely also baked by the chef) as well as a very cold white wine recommended by chef Gramuglia. 🥂🍾 It's a shame to already be full with the starter and first course, thanks to the quantity and quality of the dishes. You can't give up dessert and it's a good thing we didn't do it because we would have lost two delicious cheesecakes (we chose one with three chocolates and one with caramel 😋). It will mean that to taste the second courses you will have to come back 😉... with great pleasure 😊. Considering the quality of the dishes and that the fish is fresh and excellent, the prices are within the norm. It is precisely the case to say: "Congratulations to the chef!" 👨‍🍳

13/07/2024: Coming to Bagnara and not eating at Zefiro is a sin, but a serious one. The place is very welcoming, elegant and super clean. What is striking, wow effect 🥳, is the view over the Strait of Messina with a double large corner window: spectacular! The minimal and elegant equipment is very beautiful and contextualized. I ate with pop and jazz instrumental music in the background: it gives the environment a particular convivial, sophisticated and relaxing aspect. Overall, the place is really suitable for formal, but also family and romantic meetings. The service is particularly attentive, super kind and fast. All very pleasant and jovial. You know when they say: "the eye also wants its part?", well the saying fits perfectly. The appetizers are delicious, then I recommend the Sardinian gnocchi with swordfish 😋😋😋, what can I say?

13/08/2024: Mare e lido stupendo. Ma il ristorante e da evitare non tanto per il cibo ma per il servizio. Ragazzi non preparati per il servizio a tavola e cucina lentissima. Mi hanno portato l'ordine dopo due ore per due fritture. Nei tavoli si lamentavano tutti.

Seven years later. August 16, 2024. A special evening at the Calypso camping village in Marina di Caulonia. La luna, the restaurant by the sea, a beautiful and large company of various European nations (Italians, Germans and a Dutchman), who for years have chosen Calypso to spend the summer on the sea of ​​the Ionian coast of Calabria. A special dinner with a single dish "fusilloni with cucuzzelli spinusi", the famous spiny wild artichokes widespread on this coast. A "five-star" cook, Antonella, who was able to introduce and enjoy a typical local dish that will remain in the memories of all the participants (18). And, finally, local ice creams (truffles) proposed by the village director, Marco, concluded a well-presented and well-served dinner. The positive opinion on the dinner was shared by all the guests, including children and teenagers (5 out of 18).

17/08/2024: The former restaurant and pizzeria no longer exists. We ate there last summer and, like all the years before, it was very good. It is closed or moved to a hut on the beach. The quality is no longer what it was back then. The pinsa was a finished floor with little covering. Coperto per person 2 euros. In a beach shack... That's it for the Calypso chapter. Too bad.

15/08/2024: As usual in Reggio Calabria it works "u sai cu sugnu eu e cu si tu", last night after we had booked at 9.30pm we queued up (considering that there are two queues for both the pizzeria and the restaurant), after more than half an hour of waiting the queue became quite long and the less polite people moved forward past the queue because a guy from the club who was shown the door only let them pass because he knew them or they were friends, and I don't think it's correct considering that we had all made the reservation and waited our turn, and obviously they passed in the restaurant line to go to the pizzeria just to do a favor or to do it first...so have a bit of respect and common sense for everyone because the people who see these scenes "even if they are not from Calabria" are disgusted to see these things....

15/08/2024: terrible place!! even with a reservation they made us wait an hour on the sofas at the entrance, which were also wet, which we obviously dried ourselves. another hour and a half to get some good pizzas to eat, which only made us feel bad the evening and the next day! inexperienced waiters, 30 minutes to bring us two bottles of water and despite the many thanks for everything they brought us they only managed to look at each of us badly and disgusted. I know it's hard work but you can at least pretend... in conclusion, terrible restaurant with exaggerated prices for the crap they make you eat

27/08/2024: For the second consecutive year I dined in the restaurant and I would like to reconfirm every word of the previous review: "The cove of the feluccas is immersed in a magical atmosphere. You dine literally suspended over the waters that crash against the shore, savoring delicious local dishes. Swordfish reigns supreme, available in all its tasty variations. The staff is also very kind and discreet. We will count the days until the next visit."

25/08/2024: Really embarrassing. We ordered appetizers and first courses. Gelatinous and flavourless octopus salad, Normal mussel sauté, Strozzapreti with greedy swordfish without salt and watery sauce, Linguine with tasteless clams and sticky pistachio pesto, Strozzapreti with pesto without salt. Out of desperation I ordered fried calamari but the kitchen was already closed at 10.30pm on Friday. I suspect all the ingredients were frozen and not fresh. The cover on the platform overlooking the sea cost €5 while on the veranda it cost €2. Culinary decadence and arrogance of the owners. If I had cooked at home I would have done better myself.

28/08/2024: Ci era stato consigliato da gente del posto, avevamo letto le buone recensioni e abbiamo prenotato una cena ...che dire ... Antipasto di salumi e formaggi appena accettabile, la pasta immangiabile, senza nessun sapore... Questo in Italia, la patria della pasta, è quasi una vergogna.

17/08/2024: Grande sorpresa nel centro di Scilla. Osteria decisamente di alto livello con piatti tutti buonissimi, porzioni abbondanti e di ottima qualità. Provato per due sere consecutive e per due sere sono riusciti a sorprenderci. Se poi a questo uniamo una squisita gentilezza e prezzi più che onesti per la qualità, non si può non dare un giudizio di eccellenza. Strameritata peraltro.
