25/08/2025: Palazzo Candida was an excellent choice for our stay in Gerace. It's a very centrally located property, beautifully maintained, spotlessly clean, and offers attentive service and assistance both inside and outside. The room we were assigned has a wonderful outdoor terrace overlooking the rooftops and some of Gerace's 100 churches. Dinner was excellent; we particularly enjoyed the pizza; excellent dough and top-notch ingredients. Gerace was a fantastic discovery. The parking issue to reach the property was easily overcome with a permit for the Limited Traffic Zone (ZTL) granted to guests of the property itself.

23/08/2025: I stumbled upon it while looking for a place to have dinner. From the outside, you can't tell where you're going! A GORGEOUS location! Excellent value. The pizza was delicious! Compliments to the pizza chef! When we arrived, the owner, a very kind man, saw our curiosity and showed us around the place, explaining a few details. Everything was beautiful, highly recommended! Compliments!

03/08/2025: Simply wonderful, elegant, and welcoming. The mixed fried fish and pizza were delicious. Impeccable service; the waiters and waitresses were very kind, courteous, and fast. Perfect value for money! I recommend this place to everyone! ❤️

09/06/2025: The cold cuts appetizer was really really great. The service was always impeccable. I liked the pizza a little less because I felt it wasn't very tasty but it was certainly due to the excessive saltiness of the cold cuts. Unique in some respects in the area.

03/05/2025: Una vera scoperta! Alla Buca del Re si mangia benissimo: piatti gustosi, porzioni generose e ingredienti di qualità. Il titolare è simpaticissimo, ci ha fatto sentire come a casa fin dal primo momento. Siamo andati con un gruppo di amici e siamo rimasti tutti super soddisfatti. Torneremo sicuramente!

02/09/2025: I had dinner with friends. I had the carpaccio and tartare appetizer. Delicious. Then I chose the duck, which also turned out to be an excellent choice. The Florentine steak my friends had was tender and good quality. The pecorino fondue was also very enjoyable!

01/09/2025: We visited this restaurant after reading excellent reviews, but unfortunately, we weren't entirely satisfied. The place was okay, with no outside seating and friendly service, but the food wasn't what we expected... the first courses weren't bad in terms of flavor despite the overcooked pasta, but the second courses could have been better plated. In my case, the duck breast with berries and bitter cape amaro wasn't as flavorful as the meat, which was also tough. The roast potatoes were good. The place was okay, but not as exceptional as described.

20/07/2025: They take forever to serve you; in fact, they never served us. Furthermore, the way they handle the food is very unhygienic.

17/07/2025: What an amazing dinner!! The ambiance was perfect, and the staff were lovely and incredibly attentive. The food and wine pairing recommended by the maître was outstanding, definitely one of, if not the best restaurant in Scilla.

16/07/2025: Fabolous location with a terrace right on the sea from where you can admire entire Chianalea! We had delicious food and got served with generous wine glasses!

14/08/2025: We booked a table at 10:30 PM. We were seated at 11:00 PM. The first course was served at 11:50 PM. In my opinion, the wait staff wasn't sufficient for the number of customers present. I'm sorry, but a half-hour delay to seat us and an hour to be served is an unacceptable wait. The dishes were good, let's call them "traditional."

04/09/2025: I'd been there a few years ago. And I loved it. We went back and had a mixed antipasto. A bergamot tagliolini with scampi and chopped pistachios. A stroncatura with cherry tomatoes, olives, and toasted anchovies. A pizzo calabro truffle and a blueberry cake. Half a liter of red wine. €60 for two. I recommend it.

30/08/2025: An elegant and refined restaurant with a classy menu: this is as far from being a tourist menu as is the entire city. The decor is also very different and plenty of extremely interesting artefacts. The food was excellent, and really worth travelling here for something rather unique. Surprisingly (for both Calabria and Italy) Infound the service rather underwhelming: in great contrast to the lunchtime meal elsewhere, I didn’t see a single waiter or waitress smile once. Bit sad really: this place was a few smiles away from being the best restaurant over the last month.

07/07/2025: I stayed there last night. What is striking is the impeccable cleanliness of a hotel that, however, is a 3 star. Spacious, clean rooms, with air conditioning. Even the corridors smell clean. Friendly staff and a breakfast buffet with a wide choice. Located a stone's throw from the center. I absolutely recommend it.
