15/06/2025: I traveled to Chiavenna by public transport via Prättigau, Engadin, and the Maloja Pass. I went exploring the old town of this provincial town. The alleys are bustling with life. My stay at the Passerini was absolutely delightful. The ambiance at the Palazzo Salis is inviting, the food is excellent, and the service is both competent and friendly. The value for money is good. Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. The return journey by post bus over the Splügen Pass is interesting. A very nice excursion with a GA or municipal day ticket to Chiavenna at no extra cost.

27/08/2025: Visited twice during our stay in Chiavenna and I'd say that this was our favourite restaurant. For our party of 5 People, each dish that we had was excellent, the highest quality. The Gnocchi Quattro Formagio was just exquisite, like little fluffy pillows of heaven in the tastiest cheese sauce I've ever had. My next dish was Taglioni with porcini and walnuts in chestnut sauce - a little out of my comfort zone as I'm not usually keen on walnuts or chestnuts - it was absolutely gorgeous! On both visits my daughter had the Schnitzel and it was huge with flavour to match and with a very generous portion of fries, fantastico! Desserts were also delicious and a perfect end to each meal. All of this was topped off with excellent service, so friendly and patient and our wonderful lady server from our first visit recognised my daughter and her grandfather in the street the next day and gave them a hearty greeting! A lot places have great food, but great people and service are what make somewhere special. Thank you Trattoria del Mercato! Oh, also, they have the best breadsticks I've ever had, as well!

09/08/2025: We stopped for an aperitif. The staff's kindness demonstrated remarkable professionalism. A bowl of fresh water was brought for our dog. A small, yet significant gesture, combined with the excellent, quality aperitif, will keep us coming back. Recommended, and a well-deserved 5 stars.

01/08/2025: A perfect stop at a typical crotto in Chiavenna before heading up to the Engadine! The food was truly delicious, authentic, and carefully prepared: you can taste the quality and tradition in every dish. The atmosphere is welcoming and authentic, just as you'd expect from a crotto. The staff was friendly, quick, and very attentive, and the host welcomed us with great courtesy and professionalism. We highly recommend this experience to anyone seeking authentic flavors and sincere hospitality. We'll definitely be back!

18/08/2025: We went last week with our 5-year-old son. Excellent porcini mushroom risotto, homemade tagliatelle with ragù, and I recommend the charcoal-baked pizza with scampi and buffalo mozzarella, delicious. Friendly, fast service, modern, and very charming atmosphere.

24/07/2025: We spent three nights in Chiavenna and ate at this restaurant twice. The pizzas are truly excellent. But we were particularly impressed by the pasta dishes with mussels or fish. They also had a good wine selection. Fair value for money.

12/08/2025: This pastry shop is just outside the city center. It's very good, with unique, eye-catching products that are also very good. Excellent.

02/09/2025: It was our first time at this restaurant, but it felt like we'd always been there. The atmosphere is so relaxed, it feels like home. The staff is incredibly kind and cheerful, and just describing the specials of the day and the specials off the menu makes your mouth water. The food is excellent; you can taste the quality of the ingredients. We'll definitely be back.

22/08/2025: The new location is in the beautiful Pratogiano di Chiavenna. The pizza and gnocchetti di Chiavenna are truly delicious. The tiramisu is delicious. The staff are friendly, helpful, and smiling; while we sat at the outdoor tables overlooking the plane trees, they even brought us a water bowl for our dog. An experience we absolutely must repeat, highly recommended.

13/08/2025: The food is good, but if I'm giving all these stars, it's for the three girls who were in the dining room (I do the same job), and these girls should be paid double, because there's clearly a need for staff. There was a huge workload, and they were running around.

16/07/2025: A must-stop for stocking up on Prosto biscuits and other treats. The shop is well-stocked and there's parking nearby.

12/07/2025: A quaint shop, complete with an adjoining bakery, where you can buy the famous "Prosto biscuits"; they're truly delicious, well worth a visit! The workshop is located in a picturesque square next to the beautiful parish church, where Saint Luigi Guanella carried out his pastoral ministry in 1866.

24/04/2025: Really sweet people, good coffee and food. They try to talk English. Asked them if I could work on my laptop and they were completely fine with it. Good WiFi and and special area in the back with multiple power outlets.

24/04/2025: A cool bistro, perfect for relaxing. Located in the middle of the piazza, it exudes an authentic Italian atmosphere. The garden invites you to sit, especially when the weather is nice. The staff is friendly and attentive, the food is fresh and delicious. A nice place to watch and enjoy the goings-on on the square.
