13/06/2026: Update: the manager pulled me aside for a chat. It was strange but at least showed he very much cared. I’ve updated my rating as such, but maintain that you are paying essentially double what you might elsewhere, for the view. If you’re happy to do that, you’ll be happy here. Beyond the genuinely stunning views, this place is really nothing special. The rooms are very basic, but they’re charging a premium price for what’s outside the window. The maid and cleaning service is great (but be warned laundry is very expensive though that’s not uncommon). It’s all just adequate. Not really any particularly special amenities. Not carefully designed (at least compared to many other hotels I’ve stayed at in the country). Very spotty WiFi which I thought was just the area but the public WiFi worked better in Monterosso. The parking was a nightmare and they do not provide useful instructions for finding it. If this was a $300-$400 a night hotel, it would be perfect; but it’s a $700-$800 a night hotel and is thus in my opinion, overpriced. If you plan on exploring the area, you can get the same views for free (or even for dinner) and skip the hefty price tag. Regarding staying in Portovenere. It’s beautiful, obviously. Stunning. As are the other 5 cities and at least 2 have a bit more going on and a lot more convenience. Portovenere is near impossible to get to after 9pm (for the price, it would be ideal if the hotel would offer some sort of shuttle service even for an extra cost). It’s clearly a perfect city for weekenders looking to escape most of the tourism (though a surprising amount still exists here). But maybe not for first-timers to the area looking to explore. Overall, fine hotel, but it just isn’t bringing the value it requests.

07/06/2026: We spent two days in Portovenere and on Sunday we needed luggage storage: the only service in town wasn't available. We asked the Grand Hotel for a favor—aware that it doesn't officially offer storage—simply because, with two backpacks, we wouldn't be able to enjoy the day at the beach. After several initial refusals, we managed to convince the staff that they would hold our bags for a few hours. At that point, however, the response was: "Okay, we'll do it for you, but only if you leave us 50 euros." This request, we consider excessive for a temporary and unscheduled favor, was striking. Besides the disproportionate price, we were struck by the total lack of courtesy: we would have expected at least a helpful and understanding attitude toward two tourists who simply wanted a morning on the beach.

09/11/2025: Excellent value for money. The tomato juice is simply superb.

26/09/2025: The best bar in the municipality, table service, good coffee, and always fresh pastries, sandwiches, paninis, and pizzas.

18/07/2026: Very good ice cream, the Porto Venere special, with basil/mint, is excellent.

15/07/2026: Rude staff and terrible ice cream. I got a three-flavor cup with lemon, watermelon, and stracciatella... each one worse than the last. For the modest price of 5 euros! Needless to say, I won't be back. Oh, I forgot, they don't give receipts.

21/05/2026: Beautiful old-style dining room (slipcovers on the chairs, decor...). Lovely terrace, a little removed from the crowds. Prices reflect the quality. The service that day was friendly and efficient (a young man in his forties with a goatee). I'll definitely be back. It's May and it's already busy... in peak season, it might be different... Being a tourist spot, come by bus; it's more of a novelty, but you'll be more relaxed :+))

16/05/2026: I've eaten at many restaurants, but this one definitely ranks among my best experiences. The dishes are expertly prepared and don't conform to the usual standard fare found in 95% of restaurants. If you're looking for something special, I think you're in the best hands with Marco and his team.

05/06/2026: We arrived at 2:25 pm as a group of three, and the chef agreed to serve us (even though they closed at 2:30 pm). The food was very good, both the pizzas (soft and excellent crust) and the desserts. The prices were very reasonable.

05/06/2026: It would be desirable if the staff spoke at least more English, the food is in line with the affordable price, the glasses and general cleanliness could be better

07/06/2026: Beautiful place! Too bad about the embarrassing prices! A limoncello spritz and a 66cl Peroni beer, all for 20 euros!

17/06/2026: A charming little pub on the main promenade in Porto Venere. The service was friendly and helpful. We ordered an Aperol Spritz, and it turned out to be the best (and strongest) I've ever had in all of Italy! The toast with salad was also delicious. I'm only sorry we only stayed a few hours in Porto Venere – we sailed there from Monterosso al Mare – otherwise we would have been regulars. We'll definitely be back!! Thank you ❤️

12/06/2026: Ice cream parlor by the harbor. Nice terrace with a nice view, clean, and reasonably priced. Friendly staff. Clean restrooms.

01/06/2026: Our go-to focacceria when we come to Porto Venere. The best! The classic and cheese focaccia are truly delicious! 😍🫠😋

28/05/2026: Everything went perfectly, the food was delicious, the prices were absolutely reasonable, and the service was excellent. We will definitely be back.

14/06/2026: The bathroom was disgusting, and the girl serving at the bar and cashier was incredibly rude. When we went to pay the bill, it was double the price. We asked for an explanation, and she snapped, accusing us of being rude just because we made a mistake. We'd only asked for a legitimate explanation. There are many nicer bars in the area with polite staff. The housekeeping was truly awful.

01/06/2026: Takeaway juice is a huge rip-off. €4.80 for half a glass. Rude staff responds annoyed when you point it out. Avoid like the plague!

10/05/2026: Using the QR code menu as an excuse, it seems they're doing whatever they want with prices. A small beer costs €4, but you pay €5 at the register...
