Our secondi came before our primi!! The beef stew was good and the octopus also but wasn't as tender as it could have been.
My primo was so salty. The porcini seem to have been soaked in salt water. Either the chef isn't tasting his food or his palate is off. The ravioli's filling was good but almost non existent.
Wine by the glass isn't priced so you get a shock when you get the bill. 12.50 for a glass of red... it was nice but only certain types of places fail to be transparent with these things.
So many tables in the place that it is hard to navigate. I understand maximising profit but still it ruins the experience a bit. I can't imagine the chaos of it were full.
Decent over all but very pricey for the quality offered.

I visited this restaurant with a friend seven years ago – and even then, it was outstanding. Now, years later, we traveled all the way from Germany to experience this delight again – and it was perfect from start to finish!
The taste, the composition of the dishes, the quality of the ingredients – simply divine. Every bite is a small work of art and a true feast for the palate. You can simply dream away for a few hours there and indulge in culinary delights.
The location is also dreamy: the little corner next to the Papal Residence, the view of the sea – simply a piece of paradise on earth. We were there during truffle season, but I'm sure this restaurant has its own special charm in every season.
A huge compliment to the entire team – everything is just right here!
We were completely thrilled and will definitely come back. Highly recommended!

22/09/2025: Sept 25 we absolutely didn't know that the second course was only RAW cured meats and sausages so nothing to cook not even a steak... three first courses three side dishes a plate of cheese one of wild boar sausages a bottle of house wine two waters three coffees two grappas €109. Come on for three parts pasta and three of vegetables... no way will they see us again 😆🤨

12/10/2025: We celebrated a friend’s birthday at Borgo Antico. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully prepared. Unfortunately, what took away from the experience was the service. The staff seemed to lack basic etiquette and customer engagement. For example, when we asked if they had any pizzas with ham, the response was simply, “whatever is available on the menu.”
A little more courtesy and willingness to guide customers, especially first-timers, would make a big difference. Great food, but the team could really benefit from some customer service training.
05/10/2025: We went here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and had made reservations a few weeks out however when greeted, was not asked if we were celebrating a special occasion and asked to pick any table, except all of the “good” tables were already taken up front by the window. So not the greatest most welcoming start to the evening. I only point this out because the “atmosphere” here is almost a negative value. This is literally a large long rectangle with low ceilings, limited decor of Wayfair mirrors and light fixtures thrown up in the walls and wood tables flanked by plastic chairs. The bar was the nicest focal point yet for some odd reason there was tv with sports on directly across from us, and music playing was so odd, everything from pop to rap, it was just bizarre and not classy at all.
Server was borderline rude, I noticed they sold focaccia separately so I asked if burrata was served with any bread and he said no, pointed to the menu and highlighted the ingredients and no mention of bread, so we ordered separately. When burrata came out, it was served with 2 giant pieces of focaccia! We literally didn’t touch our separate order. We mentioned this to another server and he suggested we take it home with us. I had expected not to be charged for the extra bread but of course we were.
The burrata itself was delicious but presentation was terrible, instead of showcasing the beautiful colours of the peppers and beet juice, it was buried under the cheese and the entire plate was covered with plain, not so fresh looking arugula which was just an odd and underwhelming first impression.
Our main meals were pretty good, I had seabass which I found lacking in flavour and husband had pasta with meat sauce. We skipped dessert as portions were large.
Overall there is nothing to bring us to return, there are several other restaurants in downtown Oakville that offer a much better atmosphere, service and comparable if not better food.

29/09/2025: A rather unfortunate situation arose at the "Back to School" student party last Saturday. Students who had purchased tickets regularly found the doors barred because there were too many people in attendance. This meant that more tickets were printed than the number of people allowed into the venue, and the money was still taken. This sparked discontent and fights to the point that the police had to be called. A situation that put the students' safety at risk. Unspeakable.
21/09/2025: AWFUL PLACE. I celebrated my birthday last night. Terrible organization, terrible empathy, and unmotivated and inappropriate staff! I was originally supposed to have an aperitif, but that didn't work out because you can't pay €20 per person for a small plate of appetizers passed off as a platter, with a drink that would cost €5 when served in "restaurant" style.
I then asked for a change of plans to have it after dinner, but they didn't tell me that after dinner had a separate charge of €15 per person for a drink they couldn't even prepare. Because the place is being passed off as a "nightclub," which is nothing like a nightclub. Some guests arrived before me and were refused entry because I had to pay the entrance fee, and they asked, "Who pays for you or the birthday girl?" Incompetent and unprofessional people. Why could they call me at this point and tell me there are people here, she pays? No, they're not asking the guests. Which also shocked me because I didn't know about this "extra charge" for the nightclub. At the entrance, they charged me money for portioning a cake that wasn't even cake! Without even asking me what they were, and they were just pastries. Never again. The worst place in Castel Gandolfo.

01/07/2025: Torno quest'anno dopo una brutta esperienza , perchè era il posto per mangiare più vicino allo stabilimento e a piedi faceva troppo caldo per cambiare. Questa volta siamo stati meglio perchè il servizio è stato molto veloce seppure era di domenica. La carbonara saporita ma con troppo sugo dentro il piatto. Pappardelle al cinghiale in bianco discrete. Prezzi medio alti rispetto al servizio basic. In due con bimbo di 2 anni sul conto in ritardo mi sono accorto di 5 persone acctreditate del servizio anzichè 2 e ....mezzo... Però staviolta ci stava anche lo scontrino fiscale.

01/11/2025: WORST EXPERIENCE EVER , The food took 50 minutes… we had to ask for water twice, they were not nice when we were ordering. And we had to wait 20 minutes to pay the bill.
24/10/2025: Today, October 12, 2035, lunch on a beautiful terrace, beautiful view, but price and quality are not there. A tray for two people plus a hot dish in a small bowl of beans lost in the sauce—if there were two beans, I'd say too many. The wait was long, indeed very long, for having ordered a Funivia appetizer and a plate of mezze maniche alla carbonara, perhaps; they were waiting for the egg that the hen was hatching. After a long time, the pasta alla carbonara arrived, very salty, and boiled bacon. To finish, I can only say that the location and the view are fine. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it.

26/07/2024: location da favola, organizzazione eccezionale. Manuela la wedding planner è fantastica oltre che bravissima. Se ci avessero chiesto come sarebbe dovuto essere il nostro matrimonio noi avremmo risposto: esattamente come il 6 Luglio 2024 lo abbiamo celebrato a Villa Petrolini. A partire dal cibo, squisito di altissima cucina e ricercatezza e presentato con una bellezza e scenograficità unica. L'organizzazione, gli addobbi il personale e lo spettacolo evento di Raoul Sorrenti ci hanno ed hanno lasciato tutti a bocca aperta, ed infine lei, la regista di tutto, Manuela la direttrice di Villa Petrolini. Se non ci fosse bisognerebbe inventarla. Un consiglio? Chiamateli ed anche subito, la fila di persone in attesa è lunga...
10/04/2024: Ho festeggiato qui il mio compleanno, location, cibo e organizzazione perfetta! Sono stata molto soddisfatta di come è riuscito l’evento e i miei ospiti sono rimasti piacevolmente colpiti. Gentilezza, cortesia e professionalità eccezionali. Tornerò sicuramente per altre occasioni.

Pescado Seafood Restaurant

14/05/2025: Era da un po’ che avevo segnato Pescado in agenda, incuriosito da amici che ne parlavano come di un posto elegante ma non pretenzioso, dove il pesce viene trattato con rispetto e una certa creatività. Così, una sera di primavera, mi sono deciso a provarlo. Il locale, ai Parioli, è luminoso e arioso, con un design sobrio ma ricercato – tavoli ben distanziati, arredi chiari, atmosfera silenziosa ma non ingessata.
Siamo stati accolti con gentilezza, anche se con una certa formalità che, almeno all’inizio, rende difficile sentirsi completamente a proprio agio. Il servizio è puntuale e molto attento, soprattutto da parte di un cameriere più maturo che si è rivelato anche disponibile a piccole variazioni nel menù. Qualche incertezza iniziale da parte di un collega più giovane è stata ben gestita con garbo.
Abbiamo iniziato con un entrée offerta dalla cucina, una piccola mousse di baccalà su crostino caldo – semplice ma eseguita bene. Di seguito, ho scelto una selezione di crudi, con menzione particolare per la tartare di ricciola, delicata e ben condita. Il mio compagno ha preso i ravioli ripieni di scorfano con bisque di crostacei: molto saporiti, forse leggermente carichi di sale, ma strutturati e interessanti.
Il secondo – un tonno scottato con sesamo nero e riduzione di soia – era cucinato alla perfezione, croccante fuori e rosa dentro, anche se l’accompagnamento (una crema di topinambur) era poco incisivo. Il tavolo accanto al nostro – due signori americani – ha chiesto consiglio sui vini e il sommelier ha saputo suggerire con cortesia, senza sfoggiare.
Il dolce – lingotto alla nocciola – è stato probabilmente il piatto più riuscito della serata: armonico, goloso, ben impiattato. Prezzi non contenuti, ma in linea con la zona e la proposta. Non tutto è stato impeccabile, ma l’impressione generale è di un ristorante serio, che punta in alto e, nella maggior parte dei casi, ci riesce.
Quattro stelle, con un invito a rendere il servizio un po’ più caldo e meno impostato: a volte, la cucina riesce a parlare più chiaramente se chi la serve lo fa con un sorriso vero.
21/03/2025: Mi trovo in zona, leggo belle recensioni, vedo belle foto, ci vado. Bellissimo locale, bella accoglienza, promette bene. Gran menù, piatti elaborati, con ingredienti internazionali, scelgo tra le proposte del giorno. Calamaretti spillo in frittura, sfiziosi e due ostriche con chicci di melograno per cominciare, ma portati poco dopo il cestino del pane e olio, uno delicato l'altro più intenso. Gusto i piatti, non faccio in tempo di finire le ostriche che arriva il primo, di gnocchetti con pannocchie molto buoni, ma troppo di fretta; amo gustare queste pietanze. Riesco solo a temporeggiare con il rombo gratinato con le sue verdure, non all'altezza delle prime portate. Lista vini ampia e completa, molte regioni rappresentate anche con etichette importanti, e internazionali. Servizio professionale e piacevole, ma la fretta ha influito nella mia recensione, come il costo, in particolare del rombo, € 33,00 che non mi ha soddisfatto appieno.

26/05/2025: Prima Comunione di mia figlia Anna 25 Maggio2025, panorama spettacolare,atmosfera rilassante,camerieri gentili e disponibili e molto attenti,cibo eccellente,tempi giusti anche se con un bel numero di comunioni,pensavo di trovare meno organizzazione ed invece tutto lo staff riesce a gestire anche richieste fuori menù,complimenti allo chef!Il tutto gestito da un professionista il Sig. Michele attento anche su le cose più banali. Complimenti consigliatissimo
