20/08/2024: Spent 2 nights at the Hotel Lago di Garda as part of a 10-day road trip around Lake Garda - and it was a brilliant base from which to explore Malcesine and the surrounding area. The room was characterfully traditional, overlooking the town’s tiled roofs and with views of the lake. It was spotlessly clean, had good air con (needed in August!), comfortable beds and the widest breakfast we experienced.
Tip: request a room on the third floor for views but peace and quiet. The hotel building has three distinct businesses - accommodation, a restaurant and a rooftop bar - under one banner. Our room was on the fourth floor - the same as the public roof top bar, which is open to the public and doesn’t shut until 11pm. Its facilities (toilets and kitchen) are located next to the rooms, which generated noise (guests, staff clattering plates etc) until it closed.
Ultimate question: would we return? Yes, but on the third floor.

05/09/2024: Hier ist man sehr willkommen und so herzlich empfangen . Wir kommen alle Jahre wieder schon seit vielen Jahren. Kinder werden so herzlich aufgenommen. Und das Essen ist ein Gedicht.. man sagt wie Gott in Frankreich ist man. Ich würde sagen wie Gott in ITALIEN . Der Geschmack war immer noch im Gaumen auf der Heimreise.
So eine herrliche Aussicht auf den Gardasee. wir sagen Grazie

07/08/2024: Very good restaurant with a great ambience. The name says it all.
There is a deduction for the sometimes untidy atmosphere (unfortunately there are things lying around everywhere and the toilet could be repaired) and a deduction for the non-original Aperol.
Otherwise there was absolutely nothing to complain about about the food with very funny and cheerful service.
06/08/2024: Food is good. staff are rude, lied about potential allergens in the food and made us wait to get the bill. When we asked about allergens a second time the waiter just walked off.

29/08/2024: Here three different restaurants share the beautiful space under the chestnut tree. We were under the impression that we were consuming ice cream from the gelateria located on the square, but we only realized later that our table was run by the Bar Vagabondo. Bad points for a completely overpriced Fragola cup with only two scoops without whipped cream for ten euros.

07/12/2023: Questo ristorante svetta sugli altri che abbiamo provato, seppur buoni, per cibo e qualità del servizio. Ottime le polpettine vegetali, le bruschette ed in generale anche i primi. Una menzione particolare ai camerieri, che si sono dimostrati molto disponibili a soddisfare la richiesta di chiudere la porta d'ingresso causa corrente d'aria in una serata fresca. Il prezzo è leggermente superiore alla media degli altri locali ma ne vale la pena. Consigliatissimo.
11/09/2023: Wij hebben hier in 1 week tijd 3 keer gegeten. De reden is dat je hier heel lekker kunt eten voor een hele mooie prijs kwaliteit verhouding. De bediening is TOP!
Ze hebben overheerlijke pizza’s maar ook lekkere locale gerechten. Ook de wijnen zijn heerlijk. Echt een aanrader.

10/09/2023: In other windsurfing schools if there is no wind the lesson is cancelled. In other schools, beginners can use a helmet. In other windsurfing schools the instructor-student ratio is better than 1:7. I recommend booking here only if other schools are full or closed
07/09/2023: We recently borrowed a SUP. Everything went well until we got to the water, then we were spoken to rudely (shouting across the bay would also apply) because the board was still in shallow water and the surf instructor was worried about the fin when we tried to get on. The concern was understandable, but the tone of voice was completely wrong. Unfortunately I don't know what the gentleman's name was, a little older, blonde/white hair. He didn’t react when we said goodbye at the end either…. Was just busy with the surfers/surf students. 🤷♂️ If you like a barracks yard tone, your colleague is definitely the right choice. In any case, our daughter no longer wanted to go SUPing and especially not with/with this employee. In my opinion, basic didactic skills in dealing with people are missing here.

31/07/2024: Servizio 3.5 (camerieri gentili), cibo 2 (anni fa si mangiava veramente bene, ora francamente una delusione). Location molto bella, peccato, un posto cosi meriterebbe una cucina migliore.

11/08/2024: Scandal! Pizzas were indistinguishable based on the toppings and the quality was close to a frozen pizza! Salad was delivered without dressing and the tomatoes in it with stalks, when asked about it they were shouted at! Simply service not good! Lasagna was worse than any Aldi frozen product with an indefinable wobbly layer 🤮 Tagliatelle salmone were halfway ok but below average. Spaghetti Bolognese was a ready sauce...
Not recommended!
07/08/2024: So I’ve read a lot of negative reviews from here. I must admit I can’t relate to any of them. My wife, daughter and I ordered a starter to share, main courses, and deserts. With a good bottle of red wine. Everything from the seating, to the food itself, was excellent. Food was very yummy. It might not “look” like Michelin star food. But the most important thing is that it tasted awesome. Also the waiting time was very short. Even though there were others. So yeah, if you’re in the area, I can definitely recommend eating here.

20/08/2024: It's nice to sit there and the waiters are attentive.
Unfortunately the food is miserable. The gnocchi were probably homemade, which is a shame that the sauce tastes like Maggi and canned mushrooms were poured on top.
Prepared like in a bad canteen. Put everything on the plate and you're done.
Too bad...
19/08/2024: Nice place, but very touristy and not very well looked after menu. We expected well-made typical cuisine given that the products are km 0 etc. However, the dishes do not live up to expectations: the bigoli with sardines, for example, are made with herring (?)

21/06/2024: Das ist der Hammer, sieht ganz unscheinbar und einfach aus, aber du bekommst hier, das was auf der Karte steht als super feines Essen. Einfach ist manchmal mehr.
Muscheln/Cozze auf den Punkt mit einem Sugo verfeinert mit Parmesan, dass aus der Pfanne in der serviert wird nichts übrig bleibt. Pizza ebenfalls Teig geschmackvoll und voll belegt und in der Mitte nicht durchgesumpft.
Fisch/Dorade perfekt. Schade, dass wir diesesmal keine Nachspeise essen konnten. Dieses Lokal ist die Nummer 1 in Malcesine als bestes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Wenn Du hin gehst, sprich Mario auf diese Bewertung an und du wirst beste Küche in Italien erleben
