L'Arco Trattoria
Modica
07/03/2026: We went for dinner two nights in a row. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful. We dined with our 9-month-old baby.
Authentic Sicilian home cooking. Seafood and meat dishes. The mixed antipasto was phenomenal! As were the cannoli and almond jelly.
24/02/2026: If we could give it a 0, it would be the fairest rating!!!
I was having lunch in Modica for work with a colleague. We trusted them because there were two police vans parked outside the restaurant.
The place was nice at first glance, but it was a shame about everything else.
The waitress couldn't even understand what she was saying, and when she came to the table, there was a bad smell of sweat. Considering it's only February, I can't imagine how the waitress would behave in August.
That said, we ordered an appetizer and two first courses. The frozen shrimp appetizer was the only thing missing, but the rest was insufficient. We waited for the first courses and hoped for a miracle, but that wasn't the case. I've never eaten such tasteless pasta; the fish flavor was nonexistent, and it even lacked salt. After this miserable lunch, we paid a whopping €59 for two. The owner didn't even bother to ask what was wrong, but instead just gave us the bill. After paying, my colleague told her confidentially that the pasta was inedible, and she could only say that she couldn't do anything about it, in an annoyed tone. I don't think more can be said than that. I hope for the lady's sake that the chef, if he has one, takes a cooking class, uses fresh fish since we're close to the sea, and takes a hospitality course since she works in the restaurant industry!

La Contea
Modica
22/02/2026: I've been to Pizzeria Ristorante La Contea, a true institution in Modica, and the experience was decidedly positive.
The pizza is good, and you can taste the quality of the ingredients used. The rest of the menu is also of a good standard, with well-prepared and carefully prepared dishes. The prices are average, but absolutely fair for what's offered.
The service is good: courteous and helpful staff, attentive to customer needs and always ready to accommodate any request.
The only downside is the lack of WiFi inside the restaurant; if you have a phone provider with poor coverage, you risk being completely cut off. However, the owners assured me that this is under construction, so it will probably be fixed soon.
Overall, a place I definitely recommend 👍
19/02/2026: Pizzeria in the center of Modica. The pizza is rich in ingredients and very good.

Pizzeria S. Antonio
Modica
01/03/2026: I've ordered takeout from Pizzeria S. Antonio in Modica Alta several times, and I can say the pizza is truly delicious! The dough is light and well-leavened, the ingredients are high-quality, and the flavor is always impeccable.
Another super positive is the prices: truly, very reasonable, especially considering the quality they offer.
So far, I've only tried the takeout service, which has always been punctual and organized, but I'll definitely be eating there sooner or later.
Highly recommended! 🍕
07/12/2025: A quick and friendly pizzeria that primarily serves takeout. For a few years now, they've also been seating about forty inside and about twenty outside. Classic pizza with traditional dough, no frills, but also affordable. The Margherita here is still €4! They also make fries and gluten-free pizza. With fries and beer, we spent about €15 per person. The waitress was very kind!

L'Antica Dolceria Bonajuto
Modica
11/06/2025: Been there with my family to visit the "fattojo", i. e., the place where they show how to make the chocolate from bean to bar. The visit was worth the trip: the two ladies showed us the the process of making the real Modica chocolate, explaining also how to roast, peel and grind the beans...interleaving the experience with sweet treats, from the cold chocolate to the chocolate flavored spirit at the end. Definitely worth visiting!
01/05/2025: Sempre perennemente affollata.

Pasticceria E Gelateria Fede
Modica
14/11/2025: We found this pastry shop almost by accident, very close to the Duomo di San Giovanni. Excellent products, delicious gelato, a very clean and elegant place, and friendly staff make it a must-see on a visit to Modica Alta.
29/09/2025: Pasticceria Feda in Modica is a true paradise for those with a sweet tooth! Delicious ice cream, traditional Sicilian pastries, and a huge selection of sweets that are hard to ignore. The staff is very friendly and, importantly, speaks English, so it's easy to communicate. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to experience authentic Sicilian flavors and a wide variety of delicacies.
PS. It's a shame the place is wheelchair accessible, but I highly recommend it to anyone with disabilities 🥰
We weren't impressed with the strawberry ice cream...

Panificio Mediterraneo
Modica
10/12/2025: A historic neighborhood bar, recently renovated. The owner is always available and friendly. They also offer excellent options for quick lunches: tasty, quick, and reasonably priced.
14/07/2025: A no-frills bar, convenient for ordering sandwiches after a mountain bike ride.
The porchetta sandwich is very good, and the owner is very helpful.

Modica Palace
Modica
11/01/2026: Excellent hotel in Modica. I recommend it.
17/10/2025: Aesthetically, the hotel is beautiful, but our experience wasn't the best. When I booked, I wasn't given any options for choosing a room. When we arrived, we were assigned a ground-floor room with a lock that wouldn't lock from the inside, leaving the room open. So, they assigned us the room next door, practically next to the reception, with all the noise you can imagine from early morning until late at night. The icing on the cake was the shower hose that wasn't in its holder because it was broken (obviously, showering with only one hand because the other has to hold the water jet isn't ideal). We reported this and were told they would fix it. What can I say? When we returned at the end of the day, the situation was the same. The next morning, when we left, we reported it again and were told that yes, they knew it was broken. Now I say, I don't think this is behavior typical of a 4-star hotel, I don't even think it's one-star.

Casalindolci
Modica
04/01/2026: Unfortunately, I received a pistachio panettone, but it was moldy all over. It was a shame to throw it away, and we felt sorry for the person who donated it.
29/12/2025: Delicious!
A classic workshop, savor the experience.

Bisboccia
Modica
06/01/2026: Best food in town - truly authentic and innovative. Brilliant chef and great service. Every item was uniquely cooked - super tasty. The place is hidden in an alley and worth the find. Walter and Chiara brings love and passion to this place.
16/10/2025: I would not recommend this place. The service was slow, prices very high and unfortunately, worst of all, the food is well below standard you’d expect in Sicily. Bread served was stale, plates were dirty and to add insult to injury, we were informed that the place was closing (as if to ask us to leave) despite waiting an inordinate amount of time to begin with to be served. The standard of food in Sicily is so high and value so good, this place falls far below it. Massive room for improvement.

La Cucina Di Raffaele Casiraro
Modica
14/04/2025: We booked by phone at the last minute, but even over the phone, you can tell the care and attention they give to their customers.
I saw truly interesting and well-prepared dishes served.
I had an appetizer of roasted artichokes and mushrooms, cooked to perfection and very tasty. A 1kg steak was cooked to perfection, and a simple but truly flavorful orange salad complemented the delicious meat. All accompanied by a bottle of wine from the Donnafugata cellars.
An excellent experience.
12/04/2025: Like eating at grandma's on a holiday.

Alla Trinità
Modica
01/02/2026: Very rustic pizzeria with exposed stonework. Nice, secluded location. Parking is awkward and narrow, plus the entrance is on the opposite side of the parking lot.
The service is decent; the waiter is attentive and tidy.
The pizza isn't good; it tastes like focaccia and is overcooked. The ingredients are decent, nothing exceptional.
The most disappointing thing is that they advertise themselves as a restaurant and pizzeria, but on Sunday evenings they only serve pizza.
20/01/2026: The pizzeria has a very pleasant atmosphere. The food is good.

La Pignatta
Modica
28/02/2026: We booked at 9 pm and arrived, and the table was reserved. After 25 minutes, they told us they were only serving pizza because "they closed the kitchen to give priority to the pizzeria." When we complained, they told us they could feed us (thank you, you're a restaurant and as such accepted the reservation) from the kitchen after another 30 minutes. Although annoyed, we decided to wait. The waitress told us, due to the poor service, that they would have offered us two mixed fried dishes (olives, fries, and croquettes for 7) while we waited, and at 9:55 pm, they only brought one (a single plate with 3 olives, 3 croquettes, and a handful of fries...). We pointed out that we were waiting for two and that we would have paid them anyway, and they replied that that measly plate was two...
We got up and left, and they charged us 50 euros, including the fried food they didn't bring, and the cover charge, without even apologizing for what had happened. Dignity can't be bought with 50 euros, but shame can.
Furthermore, that evening they declared a no-show on the website we booked through so as not to pay their fee and receive a review...
Truly speechless...
Reply February 16th: We didn't ask for anything. We were told by you that you were offering us compensation for the inconvenience and for telling people who were there to relax and enjoy your highly publicized signature dishes that you only wanted to give us pizza on Valentine's Day. This was an objectively obvious inconvenience, but you then charged us even more than what you gave us. Out of respect for those who always work, but for those who work honestly and correctly with expertise in what they do. For you, only the hope that you reap what you sow.
Question? Why don't you mention the cancellation you made on the website we booked through? What are you, the restaurant that if you book with the popular app (and by the way, we use it to find new locations, including yours, not for the discount)
raises prices to break even?!
Don't answer anymore, because in addition to the shame you are making yourself ridiculous, and be thankful that I was in company because otherwise we would have been there talking to the finance. Good life, unworthy ones.
18/02/2026: A nice and very popular place; you can tell the pizzeria is busy and there's a lot of demand (they do a lot of takeout). Precisely for this reason, however, what happened is difficult to accept in terms of management and customer service.
We had a reservation for seven people through TheFork.
Upon arrival, after waiting quite a while for someone to come and take us, we were told that that evening they were only doing pizza and no kitchen/menu, due to too many requests. We explained that we had come from far away to try their dishes and that, if necessary, we could wait.
The waitress spoke with the owner (who was at the bakery churning out pizzas nonstop) and returned, saying that it was fine, but that there would be a wait of at least a good half hour.
It can happen on a busy evening, but it should have been communicated in advance; alternatively, if you can't manage both the dining room and takeout, you should limit reservations and not pass the problem on to your customers.
The point is, a restaurant can't go astray: if the person in charge stands by the oven making pizzas and the dining room is left unsupervised, that's exactly what happens. It's like a ship's captain spending the evening tightening screws in the engine room. The engine may run smoothly, but a ship without a guide will eventually crash.
During the (interminable) wait, we saw large plates being passed around the tables, and to pass the time, we ordered two portions of fried food. The dish arrived minimal, scant, and completely out of proportion for a table of seven, and above all, far removed from what we saw served to the others. From our experience, we felt like we were being treated "differently" because we had booked with TheFork: second-class customers only because we had a discount.
As time passed without a resolution, when we asked for clarification on the portions, we were told that "they were correct" (when, objectively, we had just seen very different portions being passed around to the other tables). At that point, we decided to leave. At the cashier, the waitress was first blamed, then the owner was called (who had gotten over the red-flag moment with the pizzas), but nothing changed. And we were still presented with a €50 bill, even though we hadn't eaten anything except those two mini portions.
Furthermore, on The Fork, the reservation was changed/cancelled, going from 7 people to 1.
I'd like to close with a basic point for the owner and his staff: it's not one bad night that ruins a restaurant, but how you handle the unexpected and treat people. Business may be good, but trust can be lost in an instant. And it's unfortunate to say, but this experience had nothing to do with the famous Sicilian hospitality: not because of Sicily (which is a wonderful land), but because of how we were treated.
There's no shortage of work, what's lacking is the ability to treat those who come in well.
