12/11/2025: A little expensive then the second courses weren't that great

11/11/2025: I celebrated my 70th birthday with my family at La Perla restaurant on Lake Albano. I couldn't have made a better choice; everything was perfect, starting with the welcome, the excellent quality of the food, and the kindness and attentiveness of the staff. All in a comfortable setting that makes you feel at home. And what can I say about the location? It's unique, with its sweeping views of the mountains and Lake Albano. A special thanks to Marco and the entire staff. We'll definitely be back.

23/06/2025: We had dinner in the garden, very pleasant. Quality food and excellent service. Worth considering if you are in the area.

19/06/2025: Pizza in famiglia buona la pizza il servizio con un bel panorama sulla costa. Ed anche un piacevole freschetto sulla terrazza.

11/11/2025: Today, November 2, 16 of us went there for my mother's birthday. It's a quaint place with a good view of the lake, but the seating isn't exactly comfortable. We ordered four appetizers, enough for 16 people, with a variety of cold cuts, water, wine, and Coke. We ordered our first courses right away, but it took an incredible 1.5 hours for some of the dishes to arrive. After another 20 minutes, four more courses arrived, and after another 10, the last ones. By the time I started, the others had already finished. The portions were tiny, and the wild boar ones were full of peppercorns. As for the second course, since it was 3:00 PM, we gave up; we weren't hungry anymore. On the plus side, the owner was very kind.

02/11/2025: The food quality was excellent, but the service was lacking: too few waiters compared to the number of tables. Having a few fewer tables would have allowed customers to be more comfortable and the restaurant would have been less chaotic. Dishes were not served to the entire table at the same time: while some were finishing their main course, others were yet to receive it. Finally, there was only one bathroom for all these customers, with no toilet paper and a malfunctioning flush.

06/12/2025: I went there for the porchetta and the sausages, very relaxing to eat a nice porchetta sandwich with a lake view - I don't know if the smell of the environment or the porchetta itself was better.

25/03/2025: Cucina casareccia "de Na vorta", servizio nei tempi, con il locale pieno non si può pretendere un servizio lampo. Ragazzi gentili. Insomma.... Se po' fa, se po' fa.

12/10/2025: We celebrated a friend’s birthday at Borgo Antico. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully prepared. Unfortunately, what took away from the experience was the service. The staff seemed to lack basic etiquette and customer engagement. For example, when we asked if they had any pizzas with ham, the response was simply, “whatever is available on the menu.” A little more courtesy and willingness to guide customers, especially first-timers, would make a big difference. Great food, but the team could really benefit from some customer service training.

05/10/2025: We went here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and had made reservations a few weeks out however when greeted, was not asked if we were celebrating a special occasion and asked to pick any table, except all of the “good” tables were already taken up front by the window. So not the greatest most welcoming start to the evening. I only point this out because the “atmosphere” here is almost a negative value. This is literally a large long rectangle with low ceilings, limited decor of Wayfair mirrors and light fixtures thrown up in the walls and wood tables flanked by plastic chairs. The bar was the nicest focal point yet for some odd reason there was tv with sports on directly across from us, and music playing was so odd, everything from pop to rap, it was just bizarre and not classy at all. Server was borderline rude, I noticed they sold focaccia separately so I asked if burrata was served with any bread and he said no, pointed to the menu and highlighted the ingredients and no mention of bread, so we ordered separately. When burrata came out, it was served with 2 giant pieces of focaccia! We literally didn’t touch our separate order. We mentioned this to another server and he suggested we take it home with us. I had expected not to be charged for the extra bread but of course we were. The burrata itself was delicious but presentation was terrible, instead of showcasing the beautiful colours of the peppers and beet juice, it was buried under the cheese and the entire plate was covered with plain, not so fresh looking arugula which was just an odd and underwhelming first impression. Our main meals were pretty good, I had seabass which I found lacking in flavour and husband had pasta with meat sauce. We skipped dessert as portions were large. Overall there is nothing to bring us to return, there are several other restaurants in downtown Oakville that offer a much better atmosphere, service and comparable if not better food.

29/09/2025: A rather unfortunate situation arose at the "Back to School" student party last Saturday. Students who had purchased tickets regularly found the doors barred because there were too many people in attendance. This meant that more tickets were printed than the number of people allowed into the venue, and the money was still taken. This sparked discontent and fights to the point that the police had to be called. A situation that put the students' safety at risk. Unspeakable.

21/09/2025: AWFUL PLACE. I celebrated my birthday last night. Terrible organization, terrible empathy, and unmotivated and inappropriate staff! I was originally supposed to have an aperitif, but that didn't work out because you can't pay €20 per person for a small plate of appetizers passed off as a platter, with a drink that would cost €5 when served in "restaurant" style. I then asked for a change of plans to have it after dinner, but they didn't tell me that after dinner had a separate charge of €15 per person for a drink they couldn't even prepare. Because the place is being passed off as a "nightclub," which is nothing like a nightclub. Some guests arrived before me and were refused entry because I had to pay the entrance fee, and they asked, "Who pays for you or the birthday girl?" Incompetent and unprofessional people. Why could they call me at this point and tell me there are people here, she pays? No, they're not asking the guests. Which also shocked me because I didn't know about this "extra charge" for the nightclub. At the entrance, they charged me money for portioning a cake that wasn't even cake! Without even asking me what they were, and they were just pastries. Never again. The worst place in Castel Gandolfo.
