07/12/2025: We were welcomed like old friends. They recommended typical dishes to try: "cacio e ova" meatballs mutt stew small and large arrosticini everything was excellent exceptional value for money I hope to return.

21/10/2025: Excellent seafood restaurant. The waitresses are knowledgeable and friendly. It's a pleasant conversation with the owner. The food is excellent and the portions are generous. Excellent value. Highly recommended...remember to book several days in advance!

19/10/2025: A small seafood restaurant in a beach resort. The fish was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection, using a simple method to enhance rather than overwhelm the freshness of the fish—sea bream in our case. The chitarra alle vongole was cooked beautifully al dente. The dish was truly traditional and delicious, thanks to a very flavorful sauce, and I chose to accompany it with a pleasant local Cococciola. The staff, truly exquisitely courteous, had butter gnocchi made on the spot (I know, butter doesn't sound right!) for our little girl. Despite the price of the dish itself, they were very good. Even the fries, which I usually don't eat and only taste in passing, were quite good for the other kids. The waitresses, as already mentioned, were truly kind, extremely helpful, and knowledgeable. The manager was also truly friendly and courteous. For anyone passing through Ortona and enjoying fish and seafood, I highly recommend stopping by and enjoying a meal at Doppia Vela.

04/11/2025: We went into a restaurant that is usually closed in the evenings in the middle of the week, Chef Francesco welcomed us with open arms. The starter was a wonderful interpretation of bruschetta. For the main courses, we ordered grilled fish and a mix of grilled fish and seafood — both were excellent. For dessert, we had a delicious tiramisu prepared right on the spot. Chef Francesco gave us his full attention throughout the meal. It was a wonderful dinner, and we really enjoyed the warm hospitality. If we return to the area, we’ll definitely come back. Thank you for the lovely evening

09/07/2025: Finalmente un gelato di qualità, ho potuto degustare il gelato di crema antica con babà e visciole superlativo! A differenza delle gelaterie classiche dove sono solo i colori a fare da padrone per invogliare le persone a scegliere, qui c’è ancora il vecchio carretto dei gelati , dove c’è solo la qualità a farla da padrone! Se passate ad Ortona questa è una tappa obbligata! Complimenti ancora !

28/06/2025: The best ice cream shop in Ortona and one of my favorites in general! I tried the pistachio, ricotta and scrucchiata and Petralia salt caramel with praline peanut flavors, all superb! Never tried such a creaminess and flavor! The Sicilian granita is out of this world!! Very honest prices! New flavors that I fell in love with: sweet pizza and yogurt 💖

18/10/2025: My husband and I enjoyed excellent quality dishes for lunch. The delicate sauces enhance the full flavor of the fish; there are no breadcrumbs, concentrated sauces, or strong spices: even the dessert made with stale bread is simple and elegant. 👏🏻 We also greatly appreciated the white linen placemats and cutlery holder. The staff who served us were very kind, attentive, and friendly. Thanks to all the staff and to the chef, who enlightened us about the history of the family trabocco, which inspired him to delight us with unique and refined dishes.

21/11/2025: 11/25. A very charming place in the center of Ortona, near the Basilica of Thomas the Apostle. The selection of sweets is tempting, as are the savory ones, with all the bottles placed behind the counter. The young woman behind the counter was tireless, going out of her way (always with a smile) to single-handedly accommodate all the requests of those who appreciated and reciprocated her efforts.

18/11/2025: Such a very pleasant stylish place to sit for coffee and dessert. In the afternoon around 2 pm we couldn't find another open place in the center of Ortona, but we definitely didn't make a mistake here. There are even some light meals available, but we didn't have those. I would definitely like to sit here again.

15/11/2025: We went to this venue for dinner on its first winter opening night, with dinner and ballroom dancing. The food was carefully prepared and very good. Excellent service, everyone was friendly, and the fun was guaranteed. A piece of advice: remove some of the tables at the dance floor, which weren't needed anyway, to widen the dance floor, which unfortunately isn't very big.

24/09/2025: A real shame. Until last year, it was truly the go-to place for a good takeout seafood dish. Today, I don't know what's changed, it's a complete disaster. We ordered four different types of pasta with four different sauces...ALL INEDIBLE. Overcooked and tasteless pasta, completely flavorless sauce, and with a couple of inches of water at the bottom. I've heard so many people complain about the same thing. A real shame.

18/11/2025: A mini getaway for my birthday. An unforgettable evening, dinner on Monday. The place was clean and all to ourselves. The food was high-quality and perfectly cooked, it felt like home. We had a delightful chat with the owner, "Grandpa" Severino (but only because he has two grandchildren), a very kind and courteous man. If we return to Ortona, we know where to eat!

17/06/2025: My husband and I frequented this Bar Tabacchi for the 2 weeks we were on vacation on the Costa dei Trabocchi.... Friendliness, professionalism, excellent quality of food. I highly recommend it....the desserts are excellent...
