19/10/2025: A small seafood restaurant in a beach resort. The fish was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection, using a simple method to enhance rather than overwhelm the freshness of the fish—sea bream in our case. The chitarra alle vongole was cooked beautifully al dente. The dish was truly traditional and delicious, thanks to a very flavorful sauce, and I chose to accompany it with a pleasant local Cococciola. The staff, truly exquisitely courteous, had butter gnocchi made on the spot (I know, butter doesn't sound right!) for our little girl. Despite the price of the dish itself, they were very good. Even the fries, which I usually don't eat and only taste in passing, were quite good for the other kids. The waitresses, as already mentioned, were truly kind, extremely helpful, and knowledgeable. The manager was also truly friendly and courteous. For anyone passing through Ortona and enjoying fish and seafood, I highly recommend stopping by and enjoying a meal at Doppia Vela.

04/01/2026: It was truly a wonderful discovery. Aside from the warm welcome from Francesca and Francesco and the super-friendly staff, we ate wonderfully. I recommend the fried fish, delicious and plentiful. The appetizers and first courses are equally delicious. I also tried the cod, both as an appetizer and as a main course with peppers, and it was truly delicious. Highly recommended. We'll be back very soon.

01/01/2026: We stopped in for an impromptu aperitif, but didn't have dinner. Friendly and knowledgeable: excellent hospitality and quality draft and craft beers at fair prices. Highly recommended!

15/12/2025: At the old lantern, you eat by candlelight; in fact, there are lots of lanterns with lit candles inside. Because the light is very dim, a blind lady accidentally ate some fake leaves that were decorating the table. He continued to eat the other diners' food because, unfortunately, he couldn't see his own, and he continued to drink from his dog's bowl. A bit embarrassing. At which point we all asked the waiters to turn on the light. They replied that they didn't have electricity because they live in the wild. The water they drink is actually rain, and the wine is just crushed and sweetened grapes. They cook the food over a bonfire in the kitchen (and here we understood why it was so scorching hot). What can I say? It was a truly unique experience. I'm giving it 5 stars because, in their own small way, they were honest, and that should make them soar to the top. Long live honesty, long live candles in lanterns, and long live rain in the glass. Reply to the owner's reply: but is "nn" a unit of measurement?

04/01/2026: The place is lovely, the fish is fresh and well-cooked, the staff is very friendly, and the prices are fair. I'll be back if I ever pass through Ortona again, which is very likely, because it's a really beautiful town.

09/07/2025: Finalmente un gelato di qualità, ho potuto degustare il gelato di crema antica con babà e visciole superlativo! A differenza delle gelaterie classiche dove sono solo i colori a fare da padrone per invogliare le persone a scegliere, qui c’è ancora il vecchio carretto dei gelati , dove c’è solo la qualità a farla da padrone! Se passate ad Ortona questa è una tappa obbligata! Complimenti ancora !

28/06/2025: The best ice cream shop in Ortona and one of my favorites in general! I tried the pistachio, ricotta and scrucchiata and Petralia salt caramel with praline peanut flavors, all superb! Never tried such a creaminess and flavor! The Sicilian granita is out of this world!! Very honest prices! New flavors that I fell in love with: sweet pizza and yogurt 💖

09/12/2025: We spent a wonderful evening in good company, and ate very well. I hope to return to try the wines I unfortunately couldn't last night because the road home was long and I was driving. But next time I'll plan better. Thanks.

18/10/2025: My husband and I enjoyed excellent quality dishes for lunch. The delicate sauces enhance the full flavor of the fish; there are no breadcrumbs, concentrated sauces, or strong spices: even the dessert made with stale bread is simple and elegant. 👏🏻 We also greatly appreciated the white linen placemats and cutlery holder. The staff who served us were very kind, attentive, and friendly. Thanks to all the staff and to the chef, who enlightened us about the history of the family trabocco, which inspired him to delight us with unique and refined dishes.

15/11/2025: We went to this venue for dinner on its first winter opening night, with dinner and ballroom dancing. The food was carefully prepared and very good. Excellent service, everyone was friendly, and the fun was guaranteed. A piece of advice: remove some of the tables at the dance floor, which weren't needed anyway, to widen the dance floor, which unfortunately isn't very big.

24/09/2025: A real shame. Until last year, it was truly the go-to place for a good takeout seafood dish. Today, I don't know what's changed, it's a complete disaster. We ordered four different types of pasta with four different sauces...ALL INEDIBLE. Overcooked and tasteless pasta, completely flavorless sauce, and with a couple of inches of water at the bottom. I've heard so many people complain about the same thing. A real shame.

23/08/2025: Simplicity, hospitality, and kindness are perhaps the three words that best describe this beach resort and restaurant between Francavilla and Ortona. I came here with my partner and two girls for a quiet day at the beach, and everything went really well. Not too many rows of umbrellas, really good prices. A quiet, family-friendly atmosphere, excellent value for money at the restaurant with a full sea view, and that lived-in atmosphere that's missing from so many more upscale establishments. We had a wonderful time, thank you!
