Trieste..has outdoor tables, has a beautiful fireplace and also offers a nice children's menu..the place has rustic interiors with exposed beams, beautiful wrought iron chandeliers, and a beautiful outdoor area. This trattoria is the real point of reference in the city, it is family run and you can taste all the flavors of the best meats...and you can eat many dishes linked to the local culture. For example...crespelle alla mandriera, duck pesto with sauces and Karst herbs, marinated beef with strawberries in vinegar and also a good cut, grilled on the brazier, good local cooked hams, hood with rice and paprika, a delicious Hungarian cake, palacinke, and a good grandmother's walnut potentina, and together you can drink excellent wines.. Among the desserts... strudel, dumplings, goulash, and their dessert of the pope". If you too pass through Trieste, keep this in mind and you will be thrilled.

09/02/2025: We return to this place for the good food that this tavern offers, as soon as we arrive the owner quickly brings us the menu and tells us to choose quickly otherwise we would have to wait for the table, we order in a hurry with his constantly annoyed face and with the fear of asking him more specific questions.
We order a glass of wine but two arrive at the table.
Once we get to the checkout we point out the misunderstanding to the owner and he starts raising his voice in an "argumentative" manner towards us!
We pay and leave quite shocked!
Today was certainly the last time we set foot in this tavern.
26/01/2025: We entered this place and it was clear that only us were present,
4 adults and a 2 year old child, we stayed for less than 10 minutes and here's why:
We were sitting down and still taking off our jackets when the annoyed owner came to remove the cushions from the bench because the child was stepping on them (he hadn't had time to sit down yet...my husband was still wearing his jacket)
We sit down (without cushions) and the menus are brought to us...
We were choosing the courses and the annoyed owner approached our child and took the menu from under his arms...because he was bending it while leaning on it.
I point out that it was the drinking menu and that it was the only one of that type that we had on the table.
Always annoyed, the owner slams the newly confiscated menu on his counter rudely and noisily.
At that point we get up and leave without ordering anything.
Before leaving I point out to the owner the unpleasant manner he had but he wanted to be right.

19/02/2025: It's an interesting place. Friendly staff. Extremely tasty and good food. Nice atmosphere.
16/02/2025: How nice it was to enter a warm and cozy restaurant on this cold and windy evening, where the smiling owner greeted us at the door. You had to book a table in advance because the place is not big. We ended the city break weekend with a dinner of local Trieste dishes, which have their roots in the culinary traditions of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, a real melting pot of nations and Central European cuisines. Start with slices of cooked ham with spicy horseradish mustard. Then Tresten jota, a thick soup based on sauerkraut, pork and beans. The main course is Wienner Schnitzel with boiled and then fried potatoes and Krajin sausage with fried sauerkraut. Plus good local wine. Everything is fresh, made from excellent local products. If you want to find out what Trieste tastes like - you must visit Vecio Buffet Marascutti!

06/01/2025: Das Essen war gut und authentisch, aber leider sind die Portionen so klein, dass man viel Brot und Nachspeisen dazu essen muss. Das macht es nicht wirklich sympathisch.

05/01/2025: Con un gruppo di amici (undici persone) abbiamo avuto il piacere di pranzare in questo ristorante ed apprezzare la vera cucina triestina, prosciutto in crosta, gnocchi di pane, gulasch e altre eccellenze, il tutto accompagnato da un ottimo vino (Montedoro Sancin) consigliatoci dal perfetto responsabile di sala Peter. Non è stato possibile conoscere il titolare Alessandro per una indisposizione, la prossima volta sarà un piacere presentarci per complimentarci per l’ottima cucina e il gentilissimo personale che ha saputo compensare un comprensibilissimo disservizio della cucina con grande professionalità e infinita pazienza, chapeau!!! Non vediamo l’ora di ritornare, grazie.

19/01/2025: Good food, service leaves a lot to be desired (not the staff but the owner), no tablecloth, no plate to put the meat, expensive side dishes and who knows what, the owner who hasn't even finished eating comes there to ask for everything well and while he does the question delivers the bill to the table without having requested it as to say and it's time to go this for all the tables, we will definitely not go back again

07/01/2025: Ristorante piccolino con poco spazio fra i tavoli per potersi muovere. Cucina friulana e non solo triestina. Abbiamo mangiato bene ma personale per niente empatico (la cameriera parlava in dialetto con noi che non siamo di Trieste e non ha spiegato i piatti, limitandosi a leggerli dalla lavagna attaccata al muro!) .
30/12/2024: Questo locale va benissimo per prendersi un panino al volo o, se si è estremamente fortunati, riuscire a trovare qualche melanzana o zucchina fritta. Birre a nostro avviso, scadenti, il famoso spritz triestino, tutto acqua.
Essendoci ritrovati in loco, abbiamo pensato di ordinare i piatti per il Capodanno da loro. Chiediamo, ci dicono di sì, ma di ordinare un paio di giorni prima. Tutto normale, fino a qui.
Bene, rispettando quanto concordato chiamiamo. Prima persona che risponde tutta scazzata, "non sappiamo cosa faremo e ci spara a mitraglia una serie di piatti 'sconfusionati", e, senza dirci nulla, molla il telefono ad una collega, questa, spaesata inizia con una serie di "non so" e di richiamare il giorno successivo.
Ci rechiamo lì personalmente sperando di avere più fortuna e ci dicono di chiamare il giorno successivo. Eseguiamo, ma ci ritroviamo punto ed a capo. Ci dicono di chiamare in un altro orario. Lo facciamo, ma ancora non si sa bene cosa e quando. Richiamiamo come da loro ennesima richiesta il giorno 30 e.... Semplicemente non risponde nessuno!
Trieste è piena di locali che fa panini di cotto e kren, oltre ad altre pietanze tipiche, da voi non spenderemo più nemmeno 50 centesimi.
Imparate a lavorare ed a trattare col pubblico.
Come si dice a Trieste, "cul pien".
Se non fosse per la zona dove vi è un intenso passaggio, coi loro modi avrebbero già chiuso.
