A delightful restaurant with Austrian tradition in Trieste. The mixed platter with different meats is an excellent way to sample various cuts and specialties. I live in Austria, and this place offers a delicious fusion of Italian and Austrian cuisine—highly recommended. The service is very efficient, prompt, and friendly.

We had a traditional platter for 2 and with the coperto (Variation of bread & traditional bakeries) and 2 sides: the sauerkraut and the russian salad. The food was quite decent beside the russian salad - the portion was ridiculous for €5, it had already dried out and besides missing relevant ingrediences it tasted awful. Would have been so easy to prepare it - you missed it. Have a new try next time!

Recommended by friends, we stopped for a lunchtime snack. The place is traditional, the service excellent, the boiled meat platter was good but not exceptional, and the price was too high for everything, even though we're in the city center. I expected much more.

Historic buffet in the city center, suitable for tourists but nothing more, passable food, anonymous service, only one plate for boiled meat (there are two of us, bring me another plate).

Antico Buffet Benedetto

09/04/2026: Visited a few months ago for work and a quick dinner, and on vacation with friends. A genuine osteria, just the way I like it. The dishes are typical of Trieste's meat (excellent) and fish (perhaps a little less, but still very good). The service is simple and efficient, and the atmosphere is reminiscent of a traditional trattoria.
07/04/2026: Traditional Trieste dishes, Jota, to say it was delicious is an understatement, eating it brought a tear to my eye, a dish you eat with your family, prepared by mothers and grandmothers with love.
