Favourite meal I had while in Trieste at this traditional trattoria.
Everything we ordered was delicious - boiled meat platter for 2, veal schnitzel & gnocchi with goulash in pictures. Very reasonably priced at €90 including a carafe of house white wine (a lot of food for 2 people but we wanted to try everything!).
The restaurant was very quiet at lunchtime on a Thursday, we walked in without a reservation.

Typical Trieste restaurant. Pleasant atmosphere. Reservations are recommended as seating is limited. Very good, home-cooked food.

Excellent food. The best I've had during my three-day vacation in Trieste.
I didn't give it full marks because the restrooms are completely inadequate.
There's no toilet. There's a squat toilet! I can't imagine the difficulties an elderly lady would have...

This is a historic trattoria in Trieste, serving quality food that's well worth a visit. The space is small, with limited seating, but the staff is very attentive and professional, taking great care of the customers. The only downside is the small, mixed bathroom, with only a squat toilet, but that's understandable given it's a historic establishment. This place is definitely worth another visit. The quality and price are fair.

I went there to experience the traditional ‘buffet’ concept and some typical local food like Jota. I was not disappointed, everything was tasty, and the portions were generous enough.
The service was quick and efficient. Is the proprietor as curt/brusque as some reviews here portray him? Yes, probably specifically to people who expect him to speak English without even asking first. I personally did not think he was rude, and I even saw him trade jokes with the locals. So, all in all… about 50% of a standard-issue French waiter?

Excellent restaurant with traditional cuisine.
I highly recommend it, especially for the owners' hospitality.
Reservations are required on weekends.
