19/09/2025: Few first courses but all refined

15/09/2025: I playfully tried to find a flaw in this place, and... I couldn't! Sesto Canto is spacious, elegant, and welcoming, with plenty of seating, including outdoor seating. The menu is refined yet affordable, the pizzas are truly excellent (the dough is simply divine!), and the service is quick and friendly, despite the high attendance. The quality-price ratio is also excellent. If I return to Città di Castello, I'll definitely stop by to try the other specialties on the menu. And if one day I end up in the Sesto Canto's infernal circle... well, at least it will have been for a pizza like this: it will have been worth it! 🍕🔥

01/11/2025: A terrible evening, a group of about 10 people, shared an appetizer, and then everyone chose what they wanted: pasta, meat, or something else. It's unacceptable that a restaurant that claims to be a Michelin-starred restaurant with its prices and menu doesn't have veal steaks on a Saturday night. What I find truly annoying is that this was communicated after the order was placed. When a dish runs out, it should be communicated when the menus are brought, so diners can decide what to order instead. A terrible experience, and I'm disappointed because we've always had a great experience, but tonight I give it a 0 rating.

14/09/2025: A refined and relaxing outdoor setting, greeted by a single, attentive and helpful waiter. Very flavorful dishes with interesting and popular pairings. The cappellaccio with white pigeon ragù and truffle is highly recommended. I would gladly return to try the rest of the menu.

01/11/2025: The food here was amazing. They do a 2 course menu for €13 which was fantastic. The service was great, nice atmosphere and tasty food at an unbelievable price. It is a shame I did not discover it until my last night, I would have loved to return.

02/10/2025: We went to this restaurant for dinner. Honestly, walking in and seeing a pine tree practically cut in half isn't the prettiest sight. There are many centuries-old trees, but they've all been severely topped, and honestly, given the beauty of the place, even outside the restaurant, this isn't a great calling card. The food isn't the best; the fish isn't cooked at all and had a nasty smell; I didn't eat it. The cannelloni, however, were cooked quite well. They serve you a little of their olive oil on small plates to enjoy with their bread, but this oil is nothing like the many DOP olive oils we have in Umbria, which are far better. The water isn't bottled, which, for a restaurant with such high prices, isn't exactly the best. The prices are too high, even for the quality of the food. It's a shame, because the waiters are very friendly. If it were just for them, I'd give it full stars.

As someone who really values thoughtful design and experience, I was impressed with how every detail — from the farm-to-table menu to the carefully paired wines — creates a complete and memorable dining experience. The staff are friendly, professional, and treat you like family. If you’re looking for a top-rated restaurant in Umbria near Umbertide with incredible views, authentic Italian food, and an unforgettable atmosphere, Calagrana should be at the top of your list. This place perfectly combines rustic charm with fine dining — highly recommended.

16/10/2025: My wife and I had a truly positive experience in a setting that charmingly reflects its past: the double-volume entrance with its staircase leading to the first floor, with its glass window overlooking the park, is the property's highlight. The owners, a large family, welcomed us graciously, and during our stay, in the evenings we spent time in front of the fireplace, chatting by the fireside, and singing along to the piano. Dinners featured quality dishes. Thanks to Novello, Teresa, and his daughter, a singer. A special thanks to little Pietro.

10/09/2025: The restaurant is located inside the historic residence that the Donini Counts built in 1579 as their summer residence in Umbria, not far from the cities of Perugia and Assisi. The main floor, renovated in the mid-18th century, still retains its classic series of living rooms embellished with doors and canvases painted by Nicola Giuli in 1780. Here, you can admire the concert hall, whose walls are entirely lined with canvases from the school of Francesco Appiani. Appiani also owns a magnificent oil-on-canvas altarpiece in the 18th-century chapel, depicting Saint Philip Neri and the Madonna. On the ground floor, there are five rooms with ceilings frescoed in the first and second half of the 19th century. In the two-hectare park, you can admire a mausoleum dedicated to Countess Laura Donini dating back to 1850 and a dovecote entirely painted in imitation wood from the same period. Along an avenue, five Etruscan cinerary urns from the 3rd century BC are preserved, while six 18th-century terracotta vases stand in front of the Villa's main entrance. The restaurant is housed in the Villa's caretaker's house, in a prime spot surrounded by nature. It offers cuisine that showcases local products combined with Italian excellence to create an unforgettable dining experience. Creativity, seasonality, quality, research, and tradition are the ingredients of every recipe from Chef Tommaso. Samir, the maître d', Giuliano, Luca, Elena, John, and the entire staff welcome guests with a smile, making them feel at ease. The menu is varied, ranging from appetizers (such as beef tongue carpaccio with pickled vegetables, curly lettuce and beetroot sauce, artisanal cured meats from “Granieri di Casalalta” according to the ancient Umbrian tradition: Ash, time and wisdom, flaky focaccia with lard and salt flakes, etc.), to first courses (such as artisanal umbricelli made with water and flour with salted butter, smoked eel and bay leaf powder), to second courses (such as lightly smoked lamb with rose petals, cream of carrots and roasted peppers), to side dishes and desserts (such as the ‘Mon Cheri’, a Black Forest wine flavoured with eau de vie). The wine list is very extensive, ranging from Sauvignon to Marina Cvetic Trebbiano d’Abruzzo Riserva Trebbiano d’Abruzzo DOC or Pagliaro Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG. The restaurant is also open to non-hotel guests who wish to enjoy a romantic dinner in a classy setting. During the summer, the restaurant offers a garden lunch in the garden adjacent to the Il Lecci dining room, where breakfast and delicious appetizers are served. Throughout the year, lunch is served inside the restaurant, offering an à la carte menu. The menu changes periodically based on the season and the ingredients, which are all top-quality and fresh. The restaurant is located at Via Deruta 43 in San Martino in Campo; a place I highly recommend and sure to win everyone's heart. It has been recently renovated: there is an internal room for groups, the upper floor, a large, recently built interior space, and an outdoor space from which you can admire the park with its three fountains.

19/11/2025: We stopped at this restaurant by chance. We realized it wasn't your typical Umbrian osteria, but something more. Despite this, the place is very beautiful and perfect for those seeking a balance between attention to detail and good food. We were looking for more basic places, but in the end it was a lovely discovery. We were rewarded with excellent service from the very generous and kind staff, especially with the glasses of wine that accompanied us throughout the dinner. Thanks again. Their mixed platter was a lovely discovery, as was their unexpected entree: breadsticks with onion-infused butter and warm bread, all homemade. Afterwards, we continued with a truly excellent mushroom risotto, delicate and enveloping at the same time. Well done!

06/11/2025: The Fonduta Di Fontina was simply remarkable....probably not the healthiest dish I've ever consumed, but better than any dessert. Overall food was good, service great and a nice atmosphere. The lamp chops were very thin, but tasty. My wife had the risotto con funghi and was purring. We shall return.

18/10/2025: A quiet, open-air café with a relaxing view of the lake

06/09/2025: The food was very good, including the view of the lake. Points deducted for the service. Too few employees, who even looked away just to avoid having to serve. Old dishes were still lying around everywhere. When you finally got around to ordering, because you were able to move, things moved slowly but surely. Another point deducted for the bill. You didn't see it until after you paid, and it was incorrect, too. Too many drinks were charged. My impression was that the employee was somewhere between intentional and incompetent.

14/09/2025: The name "La Casina" is truly fitting because it truly makes you feel at home. The owner exceeded our expectations: extremely kind, humble, and incredibly helpful. We'd love to return to that day to enjoy the excellent, high-quality food and the perfect portions. All our guests were very satisfied, including the simplicity and elegance of the room. Congratulations to the entire Casina Rossa staff for their dedication. You gave us an unforgettable day. 🥹❤️ I recommend it to all couples who want to give their guests an unforgettable experience!

09/07/2025: I learned they were under new management in 2025, and I contacted them for my baby's baptism. It was a resounding success; there's plenty of space for children, and even though there were a lot of us, they put us in one bright, spacious room. Special thanks to the chef, who created delicious dishes, even for the vegan guests. The welcome aperitif on the veranda was delicious and original. A heartfelt thanks to Hakam for his hospitality; we were very satisfied.
