Villa Goetzen In Dolo

We booked on-the-fly for one night, while we needed a layover after the insanity of Verona’s traffic - and we encountered one of the most memorable experiences on our route to Austria. Upon arrival, the welcome was very friendly, but not over the top, professional hospitality and professional enthusiasm. Just right! 10/10. The room was standard fare, although somewhat eclectic and it had charming characteristics, but could use an update to the A/C system and a general “refresher” or remodel. It’s the only reason why I dropped it to 4⭐️ (6/10) We then looked for a nearby restaurant, but decided to just eat at the hotel. This was more an act of “I’m done driving for today, let’s eat here”, than a deliberate decision based on restaurant reviews. And,…wow! In all our travels and food experiences, this was among the standout culinary journeys (10/10). The ambience, seated right at (on top of) a small canal, the atmosphere, the impeccable service, and the first few dishes, which were served without ordering anything yet, set the tone for what became an amazing culinary experience. We ended up ordering across the menu (I’d love to attach images to this review), and ended up with a €180 tab - I wouldn’t have flinched if it had been €250+, it was absolutely worth every cent. The breakfast that followed the next morning, with a hot pastry - just an unusual and delicious treat, too. Would I return for the hotel room? Potentially, although I prefer a bit more of a higher-end experience: 6.5/10 Would I return for the food? Absolutely yes. 10/10!

Villa Goetzen offers class and simplicity in a refined, family-friendly atmosphere. The rooms are welcoming, and after a seafood dinner on the veranda overlooking the Brenta River (I recommend letting chef Massimiliano take care of the preparation, as he will always amaze you), the evening will be perfect. You won't want to miss out.

A charming place, meticulously maintained, very welcoming and clean. Extremely friendly staff, top-notch cuisine, and the dishes look like paintings. We dined on the deck with a cool evening breeze. Recommended for both couples and families. Convenient parking.
