Da Maria In Isola del giglio

We had dinner at Da Maria in Giglio Castello — the food was good, fairly average overall, but the price felt a bit too high. For a group meal with one starter, one main course, and one dessert, it came to around €50 per person.

An elegant venue with a stunning view complements masterfully executed dishes and friendly staff. We'll be back as soon as we can.

You sit at the table surrounded by a setting that is nothing short of enchanting. The view, especially at sunset, is a prologue that promises wonders, a natural setting almost worth the visit in itself, nestled among the charming alleys of the Castle. The cuisine, however, is a mixed bag. Alongside brilliant intuitions and dishes that evoke the sea and respect for the ingredients, with tuna often distinguished by its character, there are unexpected slip-ups. Some of my guests have complained about rushed execution and overlooked details that leave them perplexed. The service also thrives on this duality: the staff can be friendly and professional, but sometimes the mechanism jams, inflating wait times and testing patience. An experience that oscillates between applause and disappointment, with immense potential but not always fully realized.

A beautiful and delicious dinner in the heart of Giglio Castello. Da Maria is one of the island's historic restaurants, as the taxi driver who took us to the castle told us, sharing anecdotes about Maria and her guests. Today, the management has changed, the staff is courteous, and the restaurant is well-maintained. The view is stunning, with a beautiful sunset over the sea. The food was excellent and well-prepared. We had fish dishes with truly excellent combinations and details. Even for those who don't eat fish, there are meat options. The place has plenty of seating, and the downstairs area is a bit quieter. Recommended!

The food wasn't bad ( nice atmosphere... but there's a problem: if I go to eat with my family, I can't still be waiting for the first course when everyone else has finished... It's true that we're on vacation and have time, but 1 hour and 30 minutes for two spaghetti is no big deal. I'm giving it three stars because I'm a good person, because the Giglio is beautiful, but certainly not because of the service I received.

Il ristorante Da Maria, è un ristorante storico che ha avuto in passato la stella Michelin. Il livello di cucina è elevatissimo. Il servizio ottimo. Tutti gentilissimi, sorridenti e fanno di tutto per soddisfare le richieste dei clienti. Ottimi primi ( provare tagliolini al nero ai frutti di mare e bottarga). Pesci freschissimi cucinati a dovere. Dolci meravigliosi (millefoglie con crema chantilly). E poi è in un punto del Castello…vale tutto il prezzo.

Questo ristorante si trova all'interno del Castello dell'isola del Giglio, e già questo ne fa una particolarità da non perdere. Però la qualità del cibo non possiamo non citarla per la sua bontà, qualità e particolarità. La cucina è ottima, il cibo ottimo sia la preparazione che la presentazione unitamente ad un servizio veramente professionale. La sala è molto grande, ma è la sala di un castello e quindi ... cosa potete aspettarvi? Un salto nel tempo come se si fosse in un castello ... appunto! E' un ristorante da provare senza dubbio, sia per la particolarità dei cibi che per la qualità di alto livello delle materie prime impiegate e lavorate a regola d'arte. Consigliatissimo. Goffredo.
