Da Maria In Isola del giglio

Excellent, perhaps the last bastion of local cuisine. Very fresh and well prepared fish. A little cramped environment. High prices.

My partner and I stayed in this excellent place last Saturday and in summary: location with a top view, absolutely worth seeing; my partner had some very good gnocchi with scampi and I ate spaghetti with clams and bottarga with sea urchins which were praiseworthy; very varied wine list; prices are commensurate with quality/quantity. Having said that, it was the second time I returned after 3 years and when I return to Giglio, I will definitely book my third time at the Ristorante da Maria <3. Go there!!!!

We had lunch here at Maria's restaurant, courtesy and kindness in the service... we were advised to try an octopus-based appetizer, I didn't take a photo but the slipper with bread was due! We then ordered a first and second course, packets with fish sauce and a mixed fry. The photo highlights the dish, good enough to ask for an encore if it were, as regards the second course, a mixed fried dish, good... the house white wine was fine and finally correct coffee! Price appropriate for the location

Ristorante che ormai conosciamo da anni e dove non puoi fare tappa . Tutto molto buono , antipasti e primi davvero buoni in particolare il carpaccio di gamberi con la sua salsa davvero strepitoso e anche gli spaghetti con vongole riccio e bottarga ( finalmente un posto dove c’è veramente la bottarga e non solo sul menu come in altri posti ) !! Personale gentile e disponibili anche alle mie richieste per i bambini 😊 A tutto questo si aggiunge un posto che sa di storia con qualche modernità perfettamente in armonia con l’ambiente, poi che dire la vista dal balcone è sempre uno spettacolo . Una gestione che da qualche anno è perfettamente in grado di tenere alto il nome !! Bravi ragazzi !!

Excellent restaurant in a panoramic point next to the Castle walls. Well-made dishes with excellent raw materials and wonderful views from the terrace over Montecristo, Elba and Corsica. Friendly and prompt service. Advised!

This restaurant is situated high up on the island with incredible views of the ocean. The restaurant is bright, spacious and has a good buzz. The food was good, fresh and a nice range of choice. The service really let them down. A clear dislike of non-Italian tourists, experienced by my table and our fellow tourist table beside. We got the best seat in the restaurant beside a large window. When we arrived it was open and the sea breeze was beautiful. An Italian family sitting nearby came over to look at the view, took their photos, then closed the window. There was no discussion from them, and the table beside us wondered why it had to be closed (much nicer and cooler open). We said to the family we would like to open it again, which they didn’t object to, but they then called the waitress who rudely slammed the window shut without speaking to us about it at all. We bought an €80 bottle of brunello as we had just got married and it was our last night in Italy. The wine was not decanted and when we asked for it to be a dusty decanter was washed out and given to us wet with water in the bottom. I cleaned it out and decanted the wine myself. When I went to pay, one member of staff took the payment, and then our window slamming waitress came over angrily and took the payment again, insinuating the first had not gone through, resulting in me paying twice. I only realised when I was back in the UK and had to organise a refund with my bank Giglio is a small island which is clearly majority frequented by Italian holidayers, but I don’t think it’s unreasonable for others to go and get good service. Their staff letting down a really fabulous restaurant

A restaurant where you can definitely enjoy delicious meals. The appetizers are especially delicious, including marinated sardines, octopus caponata, and shrimp carpaccio. Primo's vongole and mullet pasta were the best. The dolce is delicate and delicious, and the wine is also delicious. There is also a wonderful balcony where you can see the sunset, so you can watch it even if you are not sitting by the window. I went for two days, but I regret that I should have gone on the third day as well.

Exceptional! I went with a friend at the beginning of July, it was lovely. Professionalism and raw materials are the basis, you can see and feel it! Super recommended, really very good.

Food, place, environment and services make it very special. Spend between 50 and 70 without particular wines.
