03/04/2024: Excellent maître d' - very funny too. We were told the next table was 45 minutes later and we were happy to accept whilst we wandered the island. Lovely taste of Italy, literally and metaphorically. We were two adults and a 12 year old. Excellent value.

31/03/2024: We absolutely loved our lunch at Al Gatto Nero last week. Fresh from a morning visit to Torcello on a sunny March day we were given a thoughtful choice of table, inside or out (had to be, out), with a friendly welcome from owner Massimino that set the tone for a great first visit. Next, complimentary glasses of Prosecco accompanied a run down of the day’s seafood. A stunning plate of sweet tellines and razor clams got things going, matched with a fine bottle of Lugana (thank you M, great advice), so good we had two. Next, as a primi,the risotto. This was, at one level, just a simple risotto. At another, just sublime. THE risotto. After that, wild turbot, king prawns, tira misu, coffee, “esse” Burano biscuits. Look, just go. It's wonderful. It's even “twinned in spirit” with the Seahorse in Dartmouth. Quite right too.

01/04/2024: Amazing pasta and grilled octopus. One of the best meal I had in venice. Had a lovely lunch and staff was welcoming.

16/03/2024: I came here for breakfast and it was very nice. The staff were very friendly and efficient, and it was a good coffee that I had. I had some chocolate bread instead of my usual pastry, and it was very nice but I think I would have preferred some pastry. Maybe if I dipped the bread in the coffee, I think that would be very good but I don’t know if it will be considered bad manners 🙈 Anyway, very good, and right next to the water bus stop for a quick bite before or after adventures

05/04/2024: A breakfast with, for example, lemon cake is highly recommended, as is a cappuccino. The atmosphere invites you to linger, even by the canal.

05/04/2024: Cozy little coffee cafe. Not food you have to come for, but rather coffee and dessert. We got an espresso and a cappuccino, but unfortunately the quality was not worth it. The espresso was very bitter and sour, tasted like it had been brewed over 2 times or for too long. Cappuccino was fine but not great. It could also be that we are too European-minded in relation to the taste of the coffee, but in our opinion they were not worth the money. Super good atmosphere with book cafe 3/5 ⭐

28/03/2024: Sorry, but the positive reviews of this place don't make logical sense, we took two first courses that were in theory very simple, but which were literally terrifying, eaten only out of hunger and not wanting to waste food. I'm sorry but in this place they clearly don't know how to cook.

06/04/2024: We tried both cicchetti and dishes from the fish menu and it was all very good and fresh. The prices are high compared to other bars in the area but the quality of the fish is worth it!
