09/09/2025: We checked in properly, got a table, and then... nothing. We sat there for half an hour, and the staff walked around us, but no one spoke to us. I've been traveling throughout Europe for over 30 years, and I've never experienced anything like this. Sorry, but that was: VERY BAD.

18/08/2025: As other reviews point out, the food isn't bad, and the atmosphere is overall pleasant in the square, a quiet spot. The main problem is the staff: as soon as we arrived, we were asked, quite rightly, if we had booked, to which we said no. As a result, we were looked at insolently, as if at 10:30 PM with the square empty there was a risk of not finding a table for three (two or three more tables arrived after us). But that's not the shocking thing. One of the three people at our table is vegetarian, and the only option on the menu was pizza. When we asked to change the recipe for a first course, we were rudely told that changing it would no longer be the "old locanda" recipe and therefore it wasn't worth ordering. Assuming that this request was made politely, asking if it was possible without making too much of a fuss, I think that when there are no alternatives, it's more than understandable. This complaint about the staff was reinforced by the manager's response to the previous review, which confirmed the insolence, dislike, and arrogance that are evidently required CVs for employment at this restaurant.

18/08/2025: Normal food: we tried both the pizza and a first course. The atmosphere isn't bad. It's also nice on the square. What really loses points, and for which I'd say to avoid stopping here, is the service. I've read several reviews about it, and last night I noticed that nothing has been done to improve. The older waitress (perhaps the owner?) was truly rude and unpleasant. I, a vegetarian, politely asked for a change to one of the first courses, since there isn't much choice for non-meat eaters (I'd like to point out that I'm Tuscan myself, and the fact that there isn't much choice isn't even a problem; it happens sometimes, and I adapt very easily. Hence the request for a first course without guanciale, but which retained a flavor I wanted to try). I was told that it wouldn't be the same, so I shouldn't order it. I didn't like that response; I didn't find her friendly or capable of adapting the menu to everyone. By the way, I noticed during the evening that they'd gotten an order wrong at one table (which can happen, so that's beside the point). What somewhat confirmed my suspicions about the service being in need of revision was how much they dragged their feet with the customer, bringing her the menu as if trying to place the blame on her. In a situation like that, I think it would have been more appropriate to apologize immediately, try to understand the problem, and resolve it, without insisting on being right or figuring out who was to blame. I really don't recommend it; I think you can try something else for dinner in Scarlino. Edit after the owner's response: I confirm what I said above. The rudeness is so extreme that it's not worth trying the food. It's up to you whether you come here or not.

20/07/2025: Bella location vicino alla terrazza con meravigliosa vista sul golfo Scarlino-Follonica. Ampia scelta. Ottimi i crostini toscani e buonissime le tagliatelle al cinghiale. Servizio veloce e cordiale . Scarlino e' davvero un incanto e dopo cena vale davvero una passeggiata per un tramonto mozzafiato

28/06/2025: Essendo sola a cena ho preso una pizza da asporto, era ottima, non avevo dubbi perché questo ristorante pizzeria è una garanzia...al miliardo per cento... bravissimi
