15/08/2025: We went to this restaurant to introduce it to some friends. We had a great time; the food was delicious and the staff were very friendly. The price was also not to be underestimated: €20 for four appetizers, a first course, a second course, and dessert. I complimented the chef, who was truly kind. I recommend it to everyone. Plus, it's located in Chianale, a charming village.

16/08/2025: Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to try the place because pets aren't allowed inside. This wouldn't have been a problem if the staff hadn't been so rude about letting us know.
16/08/2025: We visited this restaurant with high expectations, but unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The outdoor tables are equipped with only one umbrella each, regardless of table size. As soon as it started raining, we (and many other customers) found ourselves completely soaked, as the shade was completely inadequate (people were sheltering under the doorways of other houses, plates in hand, and the staff was TOTALLY UNCONVENIENT).
Furthermore, a woman, accompanied by her dog, asked to move inside to shelter from the rain, but was told that dogs are not allowed indoors and that, if she wanted to continue eating, she would have to leave her dog tied up outside. This response seemed not only unsympathetic, but also questionable from a common-sense perspective, considering the weather conditions.
The staff, completely incapable of managing the situation and accommodating the customer, responded rudely and annoyed.
At least the food was good, even if it wasn't soaked in water.

27/07/2025: È stato tutto perfetto: accoglienza gentile e premurosa, cibo ottimo e ben presentato, servizio rapido ma non frettoloso. Conto adeguato: 64 Eur per 4 portate molto ricche ed una bottiglia di buon vino

La grande pietra all'interno della sala, attorno alla quale è stata costruita la baita, ci conduce immediatamente in un ambiente tipicamente montanaro,
La cucina serve piatti tradizionali, ma le materie prime eccellenti danno a questi piatti un sapore in più: quello dell'autenticità, della passione e della tradizione. Serviti da ragazze gentili, sorridenti e premurose, sarete consigliati dal patron, l'appassionato Andrea.
Un'esperienza gustativa da non perdere se vi trovate in zona.

25/08/2025: On our last day of vacation, we decided to have breakfast at Bar Monviso, since we hadn't been able to the previous days due to hiking and tiredness, and it seemed like a nice place to try! The staff weren't smiling, but they were young and we figured they needed to grow up. We ordered two cappuccinos and two croissants, filled with cream on the spot. The cappuccino was lukewarm 🤐 and the croissants, probably from the day before, tasted and had the same texture as packaged ones. For almost 7 euros, you could do so much better. What a shame! 🤨
18/08/2025: A great location for a post-hike break, an aperitif, or breakfast, while enjoying the beautiful mountain views.

We called to make a reservation, and when we asked if they accepted dogs, the lady replied if they could stay under the table.
Well, our dogs are well-behaved, but since I've never been to your restaurant, can I ever know if the tables you have can accommodate two retrievers?
They'd make a better impression if they said large dogs aren't accepted.

03/09/2025: We found this place to be quite typical of this pretty little village.
Fair prices, good food, and a warm welcome.
02/09/2025: I've been to this place several times, as I visit Casteldelfino at least once a year. Unfortunately, I only had a good experience the first time.
The last two times, we found the service very slow, the food cold, and they brought us the wrong dish and the wrong wine.
The last time, however, in mid-August, my partner and I had just enough time to eat a plate of polenta, and then, when it was time to order coffee, they made us get up from the table (not even five minutes after finishing our dish) and served it at the counter because there were too many people waiting.
Furthermore, the people at our table next to us forgot to bring their dish, and the waitress admitted she'd forgotten it in the kitchen, so it must have arrived cold.
I understand the summer season and the staff's needs (some of them quite rude), but I would recommend finding a way to manage reservations in shifts without putting customers in a rush. If similar inconveniences arise, at least offer a discount. Lunch should be a relaxing experience, which, between one thing and another, it wasn't. The location is very beautiful, but the only shame is the service and the lack of organization.

25/02/2025: Siamo stati domenica a pranzo ed eravamo una 50 di persone...
Imbarazzante pagare 25€ un piatto di polenta annacquata ,un dolce e un caffè tra l'altro dal gusto squallido.
Il servizio non ne parliamo ... Camerieri incompetenti,lenti e maleducati e oltretutto non ti sanno spiegare come sono le portate.
È inutile negare l'evidenza ma è stato chiesto da più persone il bis della portata è stato risposto dopo tanto tempo un NO secco ...
Inevitabile dire che non ci tornerei neanche se fosse l'ultimo posto sulla terra dove andare a mangiare..
E per finire ,vai a pagare in cassa non ti viene dato né uno scontrino né un "ciao "... Assurdo.
La maleducazione in assoluto.
25/02/2025: Le impressioni entrando non sono state delle migliori, la cordialità che un escursionista normalmente respira in queste vallate entrando in qualunque esercizio pubblico (ancora di più se parliamo di un luogo che si definisce Rifugio) non è minimamente presente. Purtroppo il personale all’accoglienza è sembrato completamente disinteressato all’accoglienza del Cliente (50 persone). Il Rifugio di per sé a livello architettonico è ben strutturato e tipico della vallata. Le cameriere palesemente alle prime armi hanno fatto quanto potevano per compensare alla disorganizzazione della gestione di sala.
Pranzo senza infamia e senza lode, polenta e spezzatino acquosa e non amalgamata, di polente in rifugio ne ho mangiate in vita mia e questa diciamo che entra per direttissima nella top10 di quelle da non provare nuovamente. La cosa che dispiace più di tutto non è la parte gastronomica quanto l’atmosfera poco “montana” che si respirava e non sono gli arredi a fare “montagna”.
Nota positiva se proprio ne vogliamo trovare una, il caffè.

Fa anche pizzeria ma se si viene in val varaita bisogna provare le ravioles
19/01/2025: Nonostante fosse il sabato 18 con Agnellotreffen in corso, senza prenotare ci hanno trovato un tavolo per 4 persone, abbiamo mangiato un'ottima polenta con salciccia, il servizio è stata celere nonostante la ressa, il personale è sempre stato gentile e il prezzo nella media

25/08/2024: Location eccezionale all’arrivo della seggiovia che parte da Pontechianale, con panorama mozzafiato.
La gestione ha ancora qualcosa da sistemare: il week end in estate fanno i 2 turni, il primo a mezzogiorno, il secondo dalle 13.45.. ci sta, periodo di massimo afflusso.. ma non dire a chi arriva alle 12.45 che se vuole mangiare c’è il secondo turno e deve aspettare un’ora.. c’è tanta gente che è arrivata a mezzogiorno in punto a mangiare, e all’una si alza già.. e quando si alzano fai sedere..
invece la proposta è stata il toast.. e abbiamo preso il toast. Non era neanche male.
Con un po’ di malizia si fan contenti più clienti e si incassa qualche soldino in più.. poi ognuno a casa sua fa come crede.
Si puó migliorare le possibilità x farlo ci sono
20/08/2024: Abbiamo prenotato per le 13 e 45 e i piatti sono arrivati alle 4 MENO UN QUARTO, il personale tranne qualche eccezione molto ma molto SCORTESE E DISORGANIZZATO il cibo era buono ma dopo aver aspettato 2 ore al tavolo ad aspettare il cliente non può che essere INSODDISFATTO
