When we vacation in San Felice Circeo, this restaurant is a regular stop. We booked well in advance to ensure we'd find a table. We have a poodle, so they seated us at a table inside the restaurant. While we waited for our appetizers, they offered us some truly delicious appetizers. Appetizers: anchovy and vegetable parcel, cod bites, and prawns in kataifi pastry. First courses: risotto with scampi cream, seafood paccheri Sorrento-style, and ravioli with shellfish and parmesan. Dessert: strawberry tart. Everything was superb. The service was impeccable, making us forget about last year's disappointment. What can I say... the quality is unquestionable, and the price is reasonable for everything they offer. We'll be back.
First things first: my wife and I have eaten here several times and have always been completely satisfied. That said, after countless unsuccessful phone calls to make a reservation, we finally succeeded only by walking in. We wanted to make a good impression on some friends. The next day we went to dinner; the place was busy, but not overwhelming. To avoid any misunderstandings, we mean there were no people waiting for a seat. We arrived at 8:50 PM and ate two appetizers from the taverna without knowing what we were eating, as the waiters were serving very quickly. By 9:20 PM, the appetizers had already been consumed, along with the mussel soup to finish. From start to finish, 20 minutes. Next, we ordered grilled fish, marinated salmon, and desserts. We drank a bottle of prosecco. At 9:50 PM, we paid the bill. In conclusion, the quality of the food and the portions were, as always, top-notch. The rushed service undermined the kitchen's excellent work and ruined our evening.

28/08/2025: Motivated by a previous positive lunch experience a couple of years ago and the overall good reviews, we decided to dine there last night.
Overall, it wasn't a positive experience, as everything we ordered was quite disappointing:
- The bland appetizer consisted of 4 cold single portions and 5 hot ones, prepared in advance and then assembled, lacking in attention and flavors that were average.
- Spaghetti with clams and lupini beans (€20) had a lot of sand.
- Mixed grilled fish was salty, very salty,
the fish and
the cooking were done with little attention.
The service is fine; the staff are quick and attentive.
The restaurant gets a lot of people, packed on a Wednesday with about 60-70 seats, and will undoubtedly improve, even despite this review. However, I urge them to pay more attention to the food, which is truly disappointing considering the restaurant prices.
22/08/2025: We drove over half an hour specifically to try their lobster linguine, and I have to say it more than lived up to our expectations!
The trio of tartares was also delicious.
Fair prices and a fair bill.

28/08/2025: We ate very well, excellent first and second courses, a little disappointed with the seafood salad, it could be improved.
25/08/2025: Very disappointed. For two, we ordered two appetizers (three tartare samples and a seafood salad with crunchy vegetables) and two first courses (spaghetti with clams and gnocchi with white fish and cherry tomatoes). The fish in the tartare wasn't anything special, a little tough but not inedible. The seafood salad was the least bad, but the two first courses were truly awful. The spaghetti with clams had an indescribable amount of oil, and the gnocchi (apparently homemade) were hard and tasteless. I don't usually leave food on my plate, but this time I couldn't finish the course. The waiter asked me why, and even though I told him we weren't enjoying either of the first courses, he didn't flinch and cleared the table. All of the above plus a glass of water and a glass of wine for the modest sum of €94. I definitely won't be returning.

23/08/2025: After reading the menu, I ordered 4 oysters, 4 red prawns,
4 scampi, a glass of wine, a slice of grilled tuna, three baked prawns, and some gratinated zucchini, all for the modest sum of 108 euros. When we arrived at 12:45, the raw fish took an hour to arrive, considering it was the only table that needed service. A terrible experience because the raw fish wasn't anything special, and the tuna was unseasoned, so I had to ask for oil. Avoid it!

30/08/2025: Unfortunately, we won't be eating here again (something we've done every summer for many years): the prices are out of line and completely out of line with the quality of the food served. The seafood appetizer was completely inadequate (it seemed industrially made), and spaghetti with clams was served with a half-portion of pasta, with virtually no clams, or if they were present in some dishes, they were minimal compared to the high price. There were 7 of us, and I'm sorry to say that this is not exactly the way to run a restaurant. I understand that it's summer and that the workload is fortunately high, but there's no compromise on quality, especially because it's well-paid!
28/08/2025: We had dinner last night at Grottino, a traditional and historic restaurant in San Felice Circeo.
The seafood appetizers and first courses were delicious and fresh, and the fried fish was also excellent. I highly recommend the seafood fettuccine.
The service was attentive and prompt.
The portions were generous and the prices were fair.
We will definitely be back.
Be wary of negative reviews, which I find inexplicable.

28/08/2025: I highly recommend it. I ordered a marinated salmon appetizer, which arrived after 15 minutes, hot and tasteless, hoping it didn't have any side effects. When I ordered the appetizer, the appetizers were also ordered, but after an hour and a half, the appetizers hadn't arrived. I asked a waitress what had happened to them, but got no answer. So after another ten minutes, a total of an hour and a half of waiting for the appetizers, despite the owner insisting that the dishes were ready, I finally paid for the appetizer I ate and left. I was disappointed because despite the beautiful seafood location, customers are treated poorly. A terrible experience.
25/08/2025: Fried calamari, simply disgusting. The calamari tasted insubstantial. The fried calamari was full of oil that fell off the calamari. After pointing this out, they served it back to us as is, even though we'd asked not to. Once we'd tasted it, it was naturally left on the plate, but included in the bill anyway.

23/07/2025: Sembra di cenare fuori dal mondo, nel pieno centro storico di San Felice Circeo (ma al tempo stesso in un punto riservato). Che dire, cibo squisito, dall’antipasto al dolce. Il tutto accompagnato dalla simpatia del proprietario e dalla gentilezza del suo team.
Consigliatissimo!!
17/07/2025: La qualità del cibo eccellente e il rapporto qualità prezzo ottimo ! Cercavamo un ristorante tipico e siamo rimasti molto soddisfatti, l’atmosfera era accogliente , il personale molto gentile e attento a ogni minimo dettaglio
Siamo rimasti molto soddisfatti.

16/06/2025: Cena pessima, conto sproporzionato un esagerazione indecente , sia al livello di cucina, comodità tavoli che ballano, e servizio scadente, chi viene servito in un modo e chi in un altro, qualità pessima é un complimento, nulla di mangiabile, forse acqua e coca cola l unica cosa di qualità.
03/02/2025: scortesia da parte della cassiera, qualità e prezzo non corretto allo stesso prezzo, venivo servita, e non avevo tovaglia di plastica bicchieri di plastica....... per essere self service tipo mensa troppo alto il prezzo

Alla fine fatta la somma, diviso per tutte le categorie e poi per due, il risultato è:

Il menu è altalenante, si passa dalle alici del Cantabrico e piatti al caviale, a piatti molto più basici ma ben realizzati e dall’ottimo sapore.
Unica nota, dolci, il gazpacho di frutta di stagione con meringhe che in realtà è una macedonia.
LOCATION 6
Il panorama risolleva un ambiente un po’ troppo semplice e che risente un po’ il tempo che passa. Sicuramente meglio il fuori che il dentro. Di giorno, magari al tramonto dovrebbe essere uno spettacolo. Apparecchiatura semplice (forse troppo) e informale, per un locale dai prezzi, poco informali.
SERVIZIO 5
Abbastanza attento ma basito, con alcune imprecisioni. Anche qui, con un prezzo de genere, in attenzione maggiore al servizio non sarebbe male.
CONTO 6
Come già detto il prezzo dei piatti non è poco ma in definitiva giusto per quello che si mangia. Però ne il locale interno, ne il servizio, ne in menu lo giustificano.
In definitiva se vi trovate da queste parti, un posto che alla fine vale la pena di provare!
