01/06/2025: A characteristic place created inside a deconsecrated church in the center of Viareggio. Two very good pizzas, one too salty, we would have sent it back but we were scared of the possible exhausting new wait. Selected and quality beers but in my opinion the list does not include locally produced craft beers. Very slow service, there were three of us, two pizzas were served 50 minutes after our arrival, the third pizza six minutes after the other two. One of the main rules should be to serve the table all together, and even though there were only three of us, they did not manage to do so. Given the poor service, I also found the price high.

01/06/2025: I have to say we were disappointed. The waiters were not very attentive and the service was disorganized (they even ran out of bread!). The food? Not bad in taste, but clearly not fresh, especially the fish, which seemed frozen. At the bar, a waitress was yelling at her colleagues and customers, in a really rude and unprofessional manner. The bill? Too high for what they served us. However, in the midst of all this, there was a very good waitress who stood out for her kindness and professionalism.

Mi fido ciecamente di quello che propongono e devo dire che ogni volta che ci vado, torno a casa ultra soddisfatto. Ho sempre riscontrato educazione e gentilezza. Servizio rapido. Alla prossima.

03/05/2025: A nice discovery outside the port 😀 with an excellent selection of artfully cooked seafood dishes. Timeless classics cooked to perfection and tasty combinations (cod and leeks absolutely recommended). Compliments also for the desserts and the coffee and that's no small thing, on the contrary.
Pleasant and welcoming environment, professional and courteous staff complete a pleasant experience away from the traditional promenade, a few steps beyond the port.
The beach is also admirable in maintenance and the season has just started. Well done!

24/09/2024: Hm, ich schreibe ungern schlechte Bewertungen, aber dieses Strandrestaurant hat mich geschockt. Begrüßung ohne Begeisterung. Nach Auswahl der Speisen habe ich meinen vorbereiteten Zettel mit Allergien gezeigt. Danach brach der unschönste Moment unserer Reise aus. Ich fühlte mich wie ein Verbrecher und wäre wohl besser gegangen. Aber ich konnte es nicht glauben. Mit den Tischnachbarn wurde über meine Allergien gelästert - welche Zumutung das sei. Nachher kam sogar der Chef, cooler Typ, der etwas Ruhe reinbrachte. Fazit: Mein Mann bekam gute Qualität und bei mir war es wirklich trostlos/lieblos. Ohne jegliches Gewürz und auf Minimumzutaten reduziert. Ich bin ein sehr freundlicher Mensch, aber dieses Mittagessen war ein Schlag ins Gesicht. - Allergien sucht man sich nicht aus, sondern lebt mit ihnen und ist auf die Unterstützung anderer angewiesen. - Dass die Mitarbeiterinnen noch nicht einmal auf unsere Verabschiedung reagiert haben, aber ganz selbstverständlich das Trinkgeld eingesteckt haben, passte zu ihrer Limitiertheit.
30/08/2024: We had lunch by chance at the restaurant in this bathroom and I must say that in addition to a simple but welcoming environment, the cuisine is spectacular. A spaghetti with seafood 10 and praise 🌟

06/03/2025: Carnevale a Viareggio, domenica affollatissima. Decidiamo di mangiare qualcosa prima della sfilata dei carri. Tutto pieno ovviamente, vediamo un tavolo libero nel dehor esterno senza dare un' occhiata ai prezzi perché volevo mangiare seduti. Focacce di dimensioni rosetta e poco farcite. Prezzi spropositati rispetto alla sostanza. Servizio al tavolo 3 euro. Non ci ritornerei. Un' altra volta staremo più attenti.

25/05/2025: Only the bar is being reviewed; we stopped in here spontaneously late in the afternoon and stayed because we liked it and the service was very friendly. Highly recommended drinks and food; the waitress was very nice, so we'd be happy to go back!
09/05/2025: We stopped at the beach bar for something to eat and we stayed there longer than expected because we were fine. Sea air and tasty dishes and also honest prices and then Lia, the really nice girl at the bar. We will definitely be back.

23/04/2025: Sono stato in questo ristorante a Pranzo con la famiglia, io ho preso spaghetti alle vongole e mia moglie paccheri allo scoglio, entrambi i piatti avevano un unico sapore, aglio e basilico ed il pesce era sicuramente surgelato, mio figlio ha preso una pizza che non gli è piaciuta. Dopo frittura, molto "povera" e non un granchè, e calamarata anche questa molto "povera" e con predominanza volgole, di altro pesce veramente poco. I prezzi sono veramente alti e la qualità e la quantità è molto bassa. Capisco che si mangia sul lungomare di Viareggio ma vorrei pagare per un ottimo cibo e non per la "passeggiata". Non lo consiglio

15/09/2023: Our family group of three had a really nice dinner at Laltrolato. Christian and his colleagues were very friendly, helpful and efficient. Great service, lovely atmosphere and the food was really delicious. To start, we shared two dishes between three, Ravioli Fatti a Mano and Gnocchi Fati a Mano. The flavours were really lovely and the textures of both the ravioli and the gnocchi were perfect. For the main course two of us had the pork ribs (Costina di Maiale) and our third member had duck (Petto d'Anatra). Absolutely delicious all round and cooked to perfection. We then had two beautiful desserts (Flan di Cioccolato and Sfere de Meringa). A wonderful evening and a most memorable experience. Thanks to Christian and his colleagues at Laltrolato.
01/09/2023: Non venivamo qui da molto tempo ma avevamo memorie di un'ottima cena. Il tempo passato ha senza dubbio ancora migliorato la cucina. La posizione è un po' 'particolare', ma risolve ogni problema di parcheggio. Sedie comode e apparecchiatura con belle tovaglie. Servizio impeccabile e professionale, con il giusto tempo dedicato alle spiegazioni. Piatti veramente curati nella ricerca delle armonie di gusto e di presentazione, con scelte mai banali ma molto riuscite, come quella di non usare pochissimo o zero zucchero nei dolci ma solo il fruttosio delle coulis di accompagno. Cotture giuste, accostamenti molto piacevoli. Provati gli gnocchetti agli scampi, i cappelletti farciti di baccalà, gli sparnocchi nostrali, il polpo galiziano, il baccalà islandese, la meringa e le variazioni di cheesecake. Carta dei vini non ampissima ma con spunti interessanti, a diversi livelli di prezzo. Non ho resistito allo Chardonnay Sankt Valentin, una garanzia. E serviti in bicchieri giusti (che sembra banale ma non lo è). Prezzo correttissimo anche con un po' di sconto. 65€ per una cena di solo pesce, di questo livello, ci stanno tutti. Si ritornerà di certo.

05/03/2024: With regret and dissapoitment i say that they serve and cook the worst pizza from the whole world, not just from Italy.
Edit after owner's reply:
It may be closed for now, but i could not forget this pizza we had last summer here. Every time we eat pizza, me and my wife still talk about your pizza, it remains in our memory forever :)
Maybe instead of sarcastingly replying at reviews you improve the pizza and change the furniture and attitude, because the LoTR ideea is good, but not well managed. Have a nice day!
23/11/2023: I was there a few evenings ago with my son, I ate the exceptional Arabic bread, excellent, very good, I'll be back as soon as I can.
