05/04/2024: It was my first time in the Langhe and I wanted to book with you for dinner, since it was my parents' first time dining in a Michelin star restaurant. The room is very well lit and welcoming. My wife and my parents, I, order several courses. We take three appetizers and a first course, four second courses. To drink, since I hadn't found it in other wine shops and restaurants, I order 'Luciano Sandrone Aleste 2019 Barolo'. Wine of very fine and elegant structure. Special! Having also been a sommelier for more than ten years, I would have expected a small introduction of the chosen wine, and possible pairings from the Sommelier. The story because it is called 'AleSte' and no longer 'Cannubi Boschis'. The wine service has been one of the most unbalanced and mediocre since I began this career in catering. The sommelier seemed “off duty”. Not at Michelin star level. Especially uncoordinated. The second courses were good but not excellent for the caliber of the restaurant. In my opinion, the Piemontese could have been indicated as a portion for two people, given its size. Not excellent in taste due to lack of aroma. The Finanziera and the good mixed fried foods. Between the first courses and the second courses, almost forty minutes of waiting. Far too many for four seconds and a not too busy restaurant room. This is my personal opinion as a person who works in the industry, as mentioned before. Having infinite wine references and not knowing how to describe them makes you sad and does not exude professionalism. Whoever built the restaurant's cellar knows, whoever was in the room that evening, did not reflect its principles and was not able to talk about it appropriately. I repeat, this is my personal opinion, I didn't want to write on Google as I would classify myself as All the people who only write 'the ugly' of a restaurant.
02/04/2024: What a great experience dining at the La Ciau Del Totnavento. Everything about this restaurant from the stunning view, service and great dishes makes it worthwhile it's Michelin star and without a doubt one of the best restaurants we have dined in Langhe region. The setting of the restaurant overseeing the hills itself is a sight, service by the staff was special, from wine recommendations to ensuring we had a lovely meal it was perfect. All the dishes we tried were delicate yet had great flavours and paid homage to the local ingredients, fine dining standards but yet staying true to the texture and flavours of the dishes. Overall a great dining experience. We had a your of the private canteen and what a special treat that was, housing more than 50K bottles, it's a sight to behold. The passion and discipline to create a collection like this is just immeasurable. Made the whole dining experience even more special. Langhe has some amazing restaurants from small Trattoria, to Osteria and some special restaurants and this one makes it up the list.
