02/02/2025: Historic pub in Villa San Giovanni. The cuisine offers a bit of everything but the sandwiches are unbeatable, rich and tasty. Wide choice of beers. Moderate prices. It's very crowded at the weekend, I recommend going midweek.

01/02/2025: Friendly and helpful staff. Only problem was that I thought it was a pub. In reality, the beers on tap are few and of low quality. There are NO craft beers on tap or local beers. Instead, it is an excellent restaurant with a vast menu. From meat to fish, first courses, second courses, salads, sandwiches, burgers etc etc. They make everything except pizza. We had 2 draft beers "lagunitas ipa" (a beer that can also be found in the supermarket) of half a liter for €6.50, a salad and an appetizer. The dishes were excellent and made with care. Even the bread brought with the salad was fresh, excellent and plentiful. In summary I recommend it as a restaurant. But I don't recommend it for anyone looking for beer tasting.

30/11/2024: Hübsches, authentisches Lokal - sehr zuvorkommender Service und gutes Essen. Wir hatten leider keinen grossen Hunger und assen nur ein Primo. Das war von sehr guter Qualität, wir würden wieder dort essen gehen.

31/01/2025: We often come to eat at this restaurant, we like the care and love they have in taking care of every dish and every detail in its presentation. Domenico, the owner's son, is very knowledgeable, always courteous and a great wine connoisseur. Francesco, the chef and owner, always delights us with dishes rich in flavor and prepared with great skill. Their passion for cooking distinguishes them. Highly recommended!

16/02/2025: Definitely a place to recommend. Not the usual emblazoned and super crowded restaurant, but a real family-run trattoria, like few others nowadays....... Very good dishes, starting from the appetizers, both hot and raw. The cod meatballs with sauce are excellent. You can often find off-menu items, based on the season and availability of the catch! Good choice of wine list. Nice internal room, very nice external courtyard, facing the sea you can dine while looking at Sicily!

26/01/2025: Nice and welcoming restaurant with a few seats inside but also a few seats outside. The food is very good and the value for money is excellent. The owner and staff were very courteous, the service was quite quick. To be recommended without hesitation..

18/01/2025: As soon as we arrived, we were immediately delighted by a welcome entrée offered by the restaurant: pancakes accompanied by chilli jam, an original and truly tasty combination. The place is welcoming, with stone walls that create a simple and genuine atmosphere. The staff was extremely kind and quick, a detail that made the experience even more pleasant. The pizza was a real surprise: no frills, with an authentic flavor, just like the ones I ate as a girl. A well-made, light dough, without exaggerated edges, but with that taste that brings back the simple flavors of the 2000s and 2010s. And all at honest prices! An experience I would do again.

12/01/2025: ogni anno scrivo nuova recensione dopo averlo frequentato ormai per tre anni, nella mia vita girovago d'affari nel mondo ( 40 anni ) raramente ho trovato ristorante che conferma eccellente rapporto qualità prezzo, servizio, ambiente e innovazione curatissima del menu, notevole la scelta del pesce sempre freschissimo, da barca e di taglie grandi ( consiglio spigola/ ombrina foglia limone e crudità in antipasto, ma anche lampuga, gamberi viola e ostriche aperte sur place all ordine ) , vini ottimi locali ma anche friulani, raccomando Sauvignon Terre Magre cantina Piera, S Quintino Livenza. Obbligo prenotare

12/01/2025: Abbiamo pranzato in due, un antipasto, due primi e un secondo. Pagato tanto per avere pesce non fresco ma surgelato. Purtroppo esperienza deludente.

09/01/2025: A fish restaurant that seats just over 20 in winter as it cannot take advantage of the external veranda. The food is decent but I wouldn't recommend the starter as it didn't convince me much. Better to focus on the varied and tasty fish first courses and the grilled meat, which is plentiful, excellent and well cooked. Very good frying. Having not drunk alcohol or taken a full meal, the price, brought up precisely by the only part of the menu that I didn't like, is slightly unjustified!

06/01/2025: I'm very sorry because the lady is really very kind and polite. Despite this I must admit that the food did not meet my expectations. Decent homemade starter but I was very disappointed by the macaroni with goat sauce. It was absolutely tasteless as was the salted ricotta, it felt like eating plain pasta. We will return because it will certainly have been a bad day.

26/12/2024: Bel posto, servizio gentile e cortese ma a malincuore devo ammettere di essere rimasto deluso. Antipasto casereccio tutto sommato gradevole ma nulla da ricordare, piuttosto commerciale, ho sentito poca qualità. La trippa e la parmigiana erano discrete. Maccheroni con sugo di capra insapore, immagino fosse congelato. Ricotta salata dal gusto inesistente. Meglio non proporli piuttosto. Sicuramente è stato una giornata sfortunata, viste le tante recensioni positive.

The biggest problem is that I can never photograph the dishes: the atmosphere invites conversation, the courses alternate - and end - before I manage to remember to take out my phone and create a gallery of images. So I'm going from memory. Starting with wine. There are many choices from the best Calabrian and non-Calabrian wineries, but if you love red don't miss the house one: a pure Cirò, served loose in half-litre or liter jugs. A red that has an edge. Then the appetizers. Calabrian cuisine has endless offers of starters, apart from the usual platters of cured meats, sausages and zero-mile cheeses or so. And so you can't avoid tasting the hot appetizers, from aubergine parmigiana to meatballs, aubergines and meatballs, as well as arancini, croquettes and vegetable flans. On the first courses it's just a matter of taste, but the stronnatura (a typical pasta, similar to wholemeal tonnarelli, for those who have never tried it) reigns supreme. His death (of the stinging) is with anchovies and breadcrumbs, but the variations are infinite. And then the seconds. Top quality meat, in every cut and every possible type of cooking: from sliced ​​meat (with rocket and parmesan) to fillet, from rolls to baked suckling pig, through Angus and any other "butcher" desire. Sweets to finish (if you still have room in your stomach) and typical bitters that are added to the usual ones. The price more than adequate for the quality and quantity of the ingredients.

30/01/2025: This is far-fetched. 4 is ok, but I expect a certain level from restaurants. The staff should know the language and be helpful and give advice. That's what's missing here. Perhaps this is so, and due to the lack of language there is a barrier that is difficult to overcome. As for the kitchen, I haven't had a culinary adventure.

18/12/2024: I had the pleasure of visiting this location on the occasion of an event dedicated to my work. Historic building in the historic center of Gerace, you can reach it along the internal streets but I think it can also be visited by car, we had the pleasure of walking on foot and breathing in that enchanted air that accompanies you in the history of the city of 100 churches, Gerace. Palazzo Candida is the flower of Gerace, welcoming and hospitable owners, a special place where you can spend a pleasant stay in this enchanted city.

21/08/2024: Location davvero unica.Giardino interno panoramico situato sulla terrazza di questo palazzo del 1600.Sera d'estate dedicata al palio medioevale del Tocco.Decidiamo di cenare comodamente, in questo luogo,già visitato precedentemente, ma nella parte sottostante.Il colpo d'occhio sulle stradine del borgo millenario è notevole,e le luci della sera e del crepuscolo creano una magia unica.Tagliolini con gambero rosso crude'deliziosi.ma un po ' costosi,18 €.Prezzi medi o meglio adeguati al post pandemia..buono il servizio.peccato che siano chiusi d'inverno.
