La Vecchia Sesto - Pizzeria Nili Rock

04/05/2025: Let's start with the one hour wait for our pizza's.... Whilst I fully understand that when a restaurant is busy, the waiting times may be longer, but a well run restaurant will inform their customers that the wait may be lengthy. Also, its quite extraordinary that takeaway orders be served before the seated guests.
Secondly, the waiters and staff were dismissive and rude. When I inquired whether our pizza's had been forgotten, I was told they were actually in the oven. This was clearly a lie as we had to wait a further 25 mins. The shoulder shrugs were a clear message that they don't care.
Lastly the bill seems to have been 'rounded up'. We paid €40 for two pizzas (€12 and €14 respectively) and a bottle of water and a small beer.
On the plus side the atmosphere was pretty lively, and the pizza's were large and tasty. It doesn't in my mind make up for the rubbish service - hence the low rating. In an area with many, many pizzeria's I am sure that there are better options.

24/12/2024: Emiazzico is a "historic" place for those who want to enjoy an aperitif in Sesto Calende. The aperitif is a bit sparse and basic, pizzas and sandwiches that can be found everywhere. The strong point is the service and the drinks.

16/05/2025: The guys were kind even if we waited for the dishes due to a bit of carelessness... it didn't bother us because we were sitting in front of the lake with a nice fresh breeze and the wine was good. We ate well. Thanks

25/05/2025: abbiamo prenotato per una colazione per 2 persone il giorno prima, chiedendo se fosse possibile stare nel dehor fuori vista lago.
Arriviamo ed era tutto pieno, anche avendo prenotato, boh!
Davanti a noi c’erano due persone a cui avevano dato il nostro tavolo e loro non avevano la prenotazione. I camerieri li fanno alzare e secondo me non è stato un gesto molto carino e per niente professionale anche perché i 2 clienti erano molto arrabbiati. La colazione buona ma il servizio scadente. Non ci ritornerei.

26/04/2025: We returned after a year, I had saved the location because we had a good time and we were not disappointed at all.
Excellent pizza, courtesy and quick in taking the order and serving.
We will return again if there is the opportunity.

10/04/2025: Posto alla buona ed informale ma offre il miglior panino kebab dei dintorni ad un prezzo ottimo (5€). Anche le pizze sono buone ed economiche. Il sabato sera spesso le ordino per compagnia e mai avuto problemi. Non sono molto ricercate ma solo tradizionali ma ben caricate. Loro sono gentili e cercano di venire incontro alle tue esigenze.

15/11/2024: Il locale è in una piazzetta a pochi metri dal Ticino, molto ben curato, cucina con predominanza di piatti di pesce. Buona carta dei vini, servizio attento ed ambiente elegante, adatto per una cena a due. Piatti ben curati. Possibilità di crudi. Scelta consigliata. Ottime le fettuccine con cruditè di gamberi ed il fritto gustoso e leggero .

Location suggestiva sulle sponde del Ticino; possibilità di accomodarsi all'interno, in veranda, o nel cortile esterno.
Cucina prevalentemente a base di pesce. Piatti curati, sia nella presentazione che nella qualità del prodotto. Personale gentile e premuroso, senza mai essere invadente. Caldamente consigliato

01/05/2025: Very nice and welcoming environment, little waiting, good location in the center of Sesto Calende, however I can't say the same about the food. Embarrassing pizza, it seemed frozen, heavy dough, undercooked, and tasteless, acidic tomato sauce, the mozzarella on top was solid, with an excessive amount of oil.
Absolutely not recommended place.
01/05/2025: We had dinner with the Chef's menu. Super. We recommend stopping by to try the fish menus
