11/11/2025: After returning for the fourth time in the last four years, with about a year between each visit, I can confidently say that Il Pellegrino is now an absolute must-try in Val di Nievole. Without a doubt, it's the best steak you can eat from Pistoia to Lucca, and in my opinion, it even beats many Florentine steaks. The quality of the meat is top-notch, but what makes the difference is their way of cooking and seasoning it; every four times, it melted in my mouth! All the other ingredients are also top-notch; mushrooms and truffles with an authentic and intense flavor. The restaurant, after its recent renovation, is elegant and welcoming. Just as elegant, kind, welcoming, and very competent are all the staff, from the owners Lorenzo and Mirko, to the entire staff!! Put your GPS on and go there; it's a five-minute drive from the center of Montecatini, but you won't regret it! The price is also very fair for the quality of what you eat and drink... Recommended above all!!

08/11/2025: The food wasn't bad, except for the overpriced appetizer portions, which were small for a group of 12 people plus a boy. The steak was decent, but the worst part was the surprise bill... because €80 each for an appetizer and a steak seems like a lot to me. It's true that we drank seven bottles of €20 Chianti, but where's the €1200?! 4 crostini each, a few mixed cold cuts, side dishes with the steaks, dip, and two potatoes. In the end, it seemed logical to ask for a receipt; I would have done things differently.

22/10/2025: Profoundly disappointing experience. This is an old-school restaurant with a balanced menu and authentic staff — something I usually appreciate. However, in nearly 11 years of Russia’s war against Ukraine, it’s natural to expect a basic level of sensitivity toward Ukrainians who do not want to be addressed in Russian. Hearing this language is painful — it is associated with blood and death. Despite our polite request not to be spoken to in Russian, the restaurant sent a female staff member who insisted on using it, even delivering a short speech to justify her choice. That response showed a profound lack of empathy and cultural awareness. A place that values hospitality should respect its guests’ boundaries and the tragic reality that defines them. There are plenty of other places in the same price range with better food, service, and atmosphere, where respect and understanding still mean something.

06/11/2025: We celebrated my wife's fiftieth birthday with the family at the trattoria. We found the food excellent, the ossobuco was amazing... the staff were very kind and welcoming, the atmosphere is simple but warm, just what you expect to find when you go to a trattoria. Recommended 💯😉

19/10/2025: What an absolute pleasure to dine here. Great pizza (served only after 7pm), as well as great lasagne, paninis, and wine/cocktails. The prices are incredibly reasonable and the setting is friendly and casual. Special mention to the waiter (the bald gentleman), who was exceedingly polite, accommodating, and patient with food and drink orders. Everything we had was delicious. This is a great spot to get a meal, or just stop for a drink (as of October 2025, aperol spritz are only €5!). If you’re in Montecatini for a night or two, this place deserves a stop!

03/11/2025: A truly pleasant surprise, generous dishes served by excellent waiters. The dishes were plentiful and well-served, and the wine was excellent and reasonably priced. I recommend it and will be back soon.

07/09/2025: We had dinner at La Mandragola and it was outstanding. The food was absolutely delicious, matched only by the exceptional service. The setting in the courtyard is warm and comfortable, making the whole experience feel special. A memorable spot in San Gimignano that I’d happily return to.

31/08/2025: Beautiful and well-kept place, especially the outdoor area. The counter is always stocked and offers a wide variety of breakfast items (both savory and sweet), and the coffee is equally excellent. The staff is always professional, polite, and helpful. The strong point is definitely the quality/price ratio (considering that everything is made in-house). Highly recommended for the Montecatini area!!

17/10/2025: Our experience at the Gran Hotel Croce di Malta in Montecatini Terme was overall positive 👍🏻, although there were a few things we didn't like 🤔. First of all, I'd like to mention the lack of a kettle 🫖 with various complimentary herbal teas in the room, a convenience that's now ubiquitous in any hotel regardless of category (even hostels always have one). It may seem like a trivial matter, but it's nice, after a day of sightseeing, to relax with a nice chamomile tea 🍵 at the end of the evening. The breakfast selection the next morning wasn't bad, except that the chocolate dispenser wasn't working; the situation didn't change one bit even after the intervention of a polite waitress 👩🏻‍🦱, as the device continued to dispense cloudy water mixed with dust. In the end, I gave up on the idea and opted for some orange juice 🍊. As for parking 🅿️, it's limited to the available spaces along the street the property faces, and in any case, it's paid (we actually left our vehicle 🚘 in the first spot next to the main entrance). The rates, however, are interesting, given that we spent a total of €113.65 💶 for a double room (no. 802, booked and paid by card 💳 directly on Booking), plus an additional €6 for the tourist tax and €5 for parking 🅿️ (paid on site). The staff were friendly, from the receptionist to the maids and the room cleaners. The location is excellent, right off the main pedestrian street 🚶🏻🚶🏻‍♀️ in the city center. The property's furnishings are also pleasant 🏨, featuring a sober and elegant style (the contemporary artwork in the guest lounge and on the outdoor terrace is beautiful). A good base for exploring the center of magnificent Montecatini Terme. RECOMMENDED 👍🏻. 16/10/2025: Excellent staff and location! Constant thefts from cars spoil the atmosphere of the stay! Omelette from powder and scrambled eggs for 6-10€ to order are surprising in a premium class hotel! Only excellent staff saves the hotel from oblivion.... Sad

We ordered two appetizers, one was served to us and the other to the table behind...who had also asked for two...then the "latecomers" arrived. In your reply, you asked if I was sure I'd been there...absolutely sure. I'm sorry if the comments didn't go down well, but I didn't enjoy the evening either. The fact remains that everyone's tastes are different, and nothing to say about the view.
