04/04/2025: FINALMENTE siamo tornati a degustare il pesce dal Matto,a pranzo il venerdì nuovamente in menù.....oggi un Risotto allo scoglio da favola,una frittura croccante ed un'insalata di mare semplicemente gustosa....Quanti ricordi ci sono tornati in mente...quante serate , anni orsono ,ad aspettare lo show di Fulvio che dopo una superba cena "pesciaiola" distribuiva vassoiate in testa ai commensali.....

Rooms are a bit dated as is the bathroom that needs to be redone. There is no air conditioning. The food is excellent!

As soon as I arrived I found the place very dated, but then it was fine all in all.
It is located 15 minutes from Arezzo surrounded by greenery, easy to get to with a smooth road
The bed is comfortable and the breakfast is good
The staff is very helpful
For what I spent for 2 nights (2adl) I couldn't have found better

Tempted by an advertising post that appeared on Facebook we decide to participate in this "unlimited shellfish" dinner
Now I didn't believe it was fresh fish but they used frozen fish given the not excessive price and in fact I was right but there were things left unsaid that I consider serious shortcomings.
Once we arrived they made us sit with 8 other diners at a very narrow table for 10 people (it had not been specified that we were at a shared table), after an initial dismay of all the diners we started dinner and we were served the cold starter and it wasn't bad, as reported on the event poster there was supposed to be hot and cold starter but we only got a bit of mussels and that was it.
Let's move on to the first one which wasn't bad but in review the portion was really small but let's move on there had to be the unlimited grilled shellfish and I thought I'll make up for it with that....
Wrong thinking! After the first serving where they served us a piece of each fish (by the way, the mussels and scallops au gratin that were immediately finished are molluscs and not crustaceans) they returned with a refresher of prawns and that was it.
When I asked if there was anything else I was told no (what the hell kind of unlimited barbecue is it if the stuff runs out? Well!)
Let's move on to the advertised desserts which we all expected to be a mix of tiramisu and panna cotta or something similar and instead we were served a lemon sorbet and many thanks and goodbye (until now in my opinion)!
Anything can be done or said but if you advertise a menu and you have to respect it to the letter otherwise it's a joke and instead of building customer loyalty you make them run away.
It's fine to do things "the good way" but here it goes too far, personally we won't go back!

28/04/2025: SIAMO STATI 3 GIORNI IN QUESTO BELLISSIMO RIFUGIO, CON PERNOTTAMENTO, COLAZIONE E CENA. TUTTO MOLTO CARATTERISTICO, CAMINO IMMENSO SEMPRE ACCESO, TAVOLI IN LEGNO, BROCCHE E FIORI SECCHI SULLE MENSOLE.. I PROPRIETARI DISPONIBILISSIMI E IN GAMBA, FUORI UN PANORAMA MOZZAFIATO, LA "TINOZZA CALDA", SDRAIO, E UNA GRANDE TRANQUILLITA', CIELO STELLATO E LIMONCINO FATTO IN CASA DAL PROP... TOP!!!!! DI SICURO TORNEREMO, BELLISSIMA ESPERIENZA!

14/12/2024: ECCEZIONALE! Ho prenotato telefonicamente 3 camere (2 triple e 1 matrimoniale) già al telefono ho ricevuto un servizio ottimo riuscendo a trovare il giusto compromesso per il nostro piccolo gruppo. Il castello è mozzafiato, una vera esperienza dormire in un posto del genere, OVVIAMENTE è un ambiente con spazi e camere grandi quindi per quanto l’host voglia tenere caldo è normale (secondo me) che comunque faccia un po’ freddino. In camera oltre ai termosifoni accesi abbiamo trovato anche una stufetta (tipo scaldo-bagno) che ha aiutato con il riscaldamento dell’ambiente. Stufetta spenta una volta messi a letto perché le coperte tenevano veramente caldo quindi perfetto. La camera, ma il castello in generale l’ho trovato PULITISSIMO, ho una neonata che gattona e un bimbo di 3 anni ed entrambi avevano i calzini puliti dopo aver camminato senza la scarpe in camera. La cena al ristorante, nonostante fosse completamente pieno, è stata OTTIMA, cibo buonissimo, tutto servito caldo e “insieme” (non 1 piatto a persona ogni 20min!). Il ragazzo che gestiva la sala era solo ed ha fatto un lavoro eccezionale. La colazione il giorno dopo nella stessa sala del ristorante non aveva moltissima scelta ma le cose servite erano fresche e buone; il ragazzo che serviva a cena era di nuovo lì nella sala anche per assistere alla colazione e tra mille domande e mille richieste da bar (cappuccini, caffè ecc ecc) chapeau per come ha gestito la sala, veramente complimenti! Insomma SUPER consigliato !
10/09/2024: Una bellissima struttura in mano a incompetenti. Arriviamo sabato 7 settembre e il simpatico dipendente ci dice di andar via perché il check in era alle 15 e che lui era in pausa. Un tono e un fare molto freddo che comunque ben si inserisce nella location. Torniamo
Alle 15 ma di lui neanche traccia. Arriva dopo 40 min con calma senza neanche un cenno di scuse, un sorriso, qualsiasi gesto che potesse, ecco accoglierci.. Il giorno dopo,colazione( peraltro modesta) e ripartenza. Credo che sia un posto adatto a eventi o per cenare ma come Hotel deve essere rivisto.

Abbiamo mangiato all'aperto, un ottima cena, prodotti loro e del territorio, tutto di giornata, no pronti, infatti si deve prenotare.
Salumi e formaggi, misto di fritto ottimo piccoli arancini, fiori di zucca e frittelle di zucchine. Lasagne di zucchine appena raccolte, roast-beef con pomodorini, capperi e cipolla fresca, patate arrosto. Io vino è della casa. C'è la possibilità di pernottare a lume di candela.
Persone semplici e simpatiche.
