02/06/2025: We had one of the most outstanding culinary experiences of all time with Eva-Maria and Axel! Right next to the historic main square, in a very idyllic alleyway, lies a temple of culinary delights of the highest quality! While Eva-Maria conjured up magic in the kitchen, Axel entertained us with exquisite courtesy and plenty of humor! He has been at home all over the world – but in Cartoceto, he has found his home in the Osteria del Cardinale, on a small farm, and with his animals. ABSOLUTELY ALL ingredients are homemade – and if absolutely necessary, then only regional and of the highest quality. We had the set menu – on Axel's recommendation – and Eva-Maria's food was exactly what we were looking for! Our dog was also well looked after. Cartoceto has become something of a "super-enjoyment spot"! A must-visit! ❤️😍🤩

27/05/2025: Every week, on the closing day, we want to pamper ourselves in places that allow us to relax, eat well and chat with family. At Osteria del Cardinale we found a familiar and at the same time professional environment; but above all dishes that make you say "wow" from the first bite. Thanks to Eva Maria who prepared us dishes that were different from the usual, going beyond our "comfort zone" and to the combination of the dishes proposed by Axel, full-bodied and above all local wines, in which one sip leads to another.

04/05/2025: This evening we had dinner with 6 people in this place. Already from the outside the place presents itself as a welcoming and very well looked after environment. Nice little entrance garden with olive trees and nice avenues with tables and benches to sit on. Entering the room, it appears very large, spacious and welcoming. Above all, it appears modern and pleasant to the eyes of those who enter and read the sentences attached to the walls (very funny). The waiters are all very kind and courteous. We had booked a table so we sat down straight away. They brought us the menus and we chose from the many proposals. Between first and second courses of meat or seafood or pizzas, there are plenty of choices. Unfortunately with so many people there we had to wait a moment longer but nothing particularly sensational. Once the order was given to the waitress, the dishes arrived relatively quickly. At the table, sliced ​​veal, grilled beef fillets and pizzas were taken. Starting from the cuts, these were recognized as very good and well cooked. Then we move on to the beef fillets which are wonderful dishes. The fillet arrives surrounded by all the vegetables, the dish is super colorful and just to look at it is amazing. Then the meat was really juicy and soft, a pleasure for the palate. The pizzas were equally good and were appreciated. Mine in particular was the MONE (salmon, burrata and chopped pistachios with the addition of porcini mushrooms) with 5-grain dough. It's true that the pizza was quite thin (which I like) but nothing to say about the flavours. The dishes truly filled our stomachs and left us full. But not too full that we forget about dessert. So we also had a berry cheesecake, two pistachio semifreddos with chopped grains and mango sauce, some homemade desserts with a glass of dessert wine and a panna cotta. The cheesecake is the one cooked in the oven but nothing to specify. Made with robiola but truly delicious. The semifreddo with grains and mango sauce was fresh but very tasty to eat (one was mine and I really ate it with gusto). The homemade desserts are just as good as the panna cotta. All the desserts are homemade by them and it tastes right. They are all absolute goodies. At the end of dinner they also brought us bananas and liquorice. I'd say we were pretty full but a sip definitely didn't hurt. Overall we got up from the chair with a full stomach, satisfied and with a good experience behind us. After all, we hear that the fish is also good and other reviews confirm this. It will then have to be tried. However, I highly recommend the place and you absolutely must try it. Enjoy these summer days to pop in and if you go for lunch enjoy the sun on the benches at the entrance to the garden. Among the photos I include photos of the dishes, the place and the menu.
