27/04/2025: Just a clarification on the menu the item appears: "pan-fried artichokes..." So artichokes written in the plural... instead...an artichoke arrived cut in half for the modest sum of €13. I would say a theft.

13/04/2025: Orfani dell' Animella, siamo dopo qualche mese ritornati nelle sale di Santarcangelo suggestive di armonie gastronomiche dove oggi officiano gli allievi (ho sentito dire) del Cracco dei tempi migliori e abbiamo avuto il privilegio di beneficiare di una performance di rara eccellenza. Il pranzo, curato da giovani talenti di cui a causa dell'età avanzata non ricordo il nome, è stato un trionfo di creatività e maestria. Chiunque fossero i cuochi dietro la cucina a vista, è evidente che tra loro si celano menti geniali e mani sapienti, destinate forse a eclissare persino il loro presumibile mentore ex milanese. Non per demerito dello chef pluristellato, oggi principalmente un manager, ma perché raggiungere vette più alte di così sarebbe un’impresa sovrumana: qui con l'Animella si annuncia il sublime. Se c’è stato un momento in cui il divino si è disvelato nel piatto, è stato infatti con l’Animella, trasfigurata in una creazione di così delicata e complessa evidenza organolettica da lasciare senza fiato. I piatti, in generale, hanno danzato sul filo tra innovazione (audace) e materica classicità: da un lato la sicurezza delle radici romagnole; dall’altro, slanci verso territori inesplorati. Il lardo, tagliato con precisione da intagliatore di gemme, si è sciolto in bocca come platino liquido, mentre i legumi con cotiche destrutturate — un tributo alla cucina povera — sono stati elevati a dignità regale da una cottura ricca di erbe officinali . I fritti con -immagino- strutto del borgo, croccanti e sapoariosi, sì, sapoariosi, insieme a verdure stagionali esplodevano di fragranze multiple, dove ogni nota (dal terroir dello strutto alla sapidità delle verdure) era calibrata per meravigliare senza cadere nella gratuità. Migliorabili le tagliatelle arricchendole di erbe amaricanti. La carta dei vini ben scelta, non ampia ma curata. Mentre la volta precedente un cameriere aveva portato a tavola un vino non richiesto e sostituito con evidente disappunto, questa volta una graziosa sommeliere di squisita competenza ha proposto un Sangiovese ravennate sontuoso, credo di ricordare un Marzieno, la cui struttura robusta e i sentori di bosco hanno sposato i piatti con potenza e grazia rinascimentali. Inoltre non abbiamo visto nessuna bottiglia esposta in vetrinetta, evitando così la violenza della luce artificiale (con i suoi raggi UVA e UVB dannosissimi) e le vibrazioni meccaniche dei compressori, altrove assassini dell’integrità del vino. Il pane è stato talmente gradito da essere richiesto a più riprese, a voler prolungare il ricordo di ogni portata, specie l'animella. Lievitazione impeccabile, cottura a regola d’arte: un simbolo di come anche l’elemento più umile possa diventare non complemento ma protagonista. Da buon maschio romagnolo DOC, ho osservato astinenza dai dolci, ma le signore e alcuni ospiti forse “in transizione” hanno ceduto con entusiasmo ai dessert mentre io mi aspettavo in sostituzione una replica dell'animella che però non è arrivata. Il conto finale, una sessantina di E a testa, ha coronato l’esperienza: un rapporto qualità-prezzo sorprendentemente favorevole, quasi un invito a ritornare presto, prima che la fama di questi giovani chef li porti a stelle (e costi) più alti.

18/05/2025: I admit that I have dined other times with impeccable service and food quality, unfortunately this evening it was not repeated. Two appetizers, one of which was their flagship dish, already finished at 9:30 pm, but above all the attitude of the waiter who was not very proactive and attentive to service. Furthermore, after finishing the main course we waited 40 minutes because according to the waiter "he didn't have the courage" to come and tell us that the desserts were also finished... I can understand the unexpected, but this is not the way to treat customers and manage inefficiencies.

25/05/2025: Be patient this is the slogan of the place. If you want to waste three hours of your life I recommend this place. The piadina is not made with traditional dough but so-called alternative, I recommend eating it filled with cooked vegetables or squacquerone otherwise you risk choking. The price is good the restaurateur unfortunately manages the place in this way, because there are many who line up for an unmet expectation.

05/04/2025: We can all pretend that everything is fine but it's not fine at all! There's something not working here and I don't really understand the success and the kilometre-long queues (hours) of this place. Arriving at 6.30pm we were immediately "scary" due to the number of participants, 6 adults and 5 children. Tables inside empty but the owner hesitates and warns us saying that it will take an hour to eat. We don't get discouraged and sit down. We'll have a beer! Unless it's taken for half an hour or more, the complete order is taken table by table. Strange looks in the room and the first people who start biting on the doorstep. The beers arrive.... I start drinking to stall, other people queuing outside. After 1 hour and 30 minutes we finally get the piadina... Ah yes, we eat the piadina, the one that in my house is seared here and there and that's it. Ok, the virtuous fillings but all this doesn't justify the wait. You can also make the best piadina in the world but there is a big problem in this place. Out in the cold, newborns and expectant mothers (everything is sweet in this case.) The meal is eaten in a hurry to make room for the people outside. It was my first time and I can tell you with certainty that it was also the last.

High quality fish and kind and attentive staff (I'm allergic to shellfish and they always know how to suggest valid alternatives or replace shellfish without distorting the dish that normally contains them). 22/05/2025: Unfortunately we were very disappointed by the change of management, the place and the experience are absolutely not like they used to be. Portions halved (a casserole dish for 3 people when the other tables were brought the same amount for two people), very long waits even when the place was emptying and above all little attention to service and hospitality. We had to specifically ask for the piadina, which is included in the menu, we spent thirty minutes with the pile of empty plates without anyone coming to take them and consequently we were not even offered a coffee or a digestive. A real shame.

11/05/2025: New management. Maybe it needs to break in a bit. Entered at 8pm, still few customers. We order 3 crostini and 3 first courses (two cappellacci and 1 ravioli with walnuts). At 8.40pm we were still waiting for the first ones. At 8.42pm the two cappellacci arrive. "The ravioli arrives immediately." 8.52pm, having divided and finished the cappellacci, we ask for some ravioli. "But it doesn't appear that you ordered anything else." In the end they bring them to us quickly, but 1 hour to eat in turns, no matter how good the first ones were, maybe not. We'll probably wait a while before going back.

13/05/2025: I am an American from Tennessee were we are very big on BBQ. Was in Bologna for 5 days went to a great park were they were doing some live music and found a booth where these guys and gals were set up. Was a little skeptical at first being from Tennessee but it looked good and smelled good so gave it a try. It was outstanding! They did a great job! You could tell the smoke was clean during the cook . No bitter rancid smoked flavor, and bark was good . It tasted great! Nice smoke ring, even though I generally care about that unless the smoke has been dirty, and the moisture level in the fork was fantastic! If You're in Italy and you want a taste of what southern barbecue is like, check them place out! Delicioso! Great work y'all!

19/05/2025: I had been wanting to go to this restaurant for a while but since I couldn't book it was full every time The quality of the food was excellent. I had tagliatelle with mushrooms (I don't remember the species but they were from that season) and I was very impressed by the homemade pasta, excellent with perfect thickness and roughness. My companion had raviolacci with truffles, very good (but mine were better). A note of merit was the meat: we had a tagliata with truffle and parmesan and the meat was delicious and very tender, perfectly cooked (rare to find). I would say that I would go to this restaurant above all to eat meat (in fact I saw that many had chosen it). To finish we had a millefeuille also very good and huge (great for two people to eat). Unbeatable quality-price. In fact it is very popular with locals. The wait was a bit long but there were several tables and in any case even if I can't stand waiting it was forgiven by the quality and also by the very friendly and helpful service. Excellent house wine. Excellent price (60 for two). Highly recommended!!!
