06/04/2025: I really got there by chance as we were looking for a place for an aperitif having had a late lunch. We walk the entire Via Tortona without finding anything that could satisfy our request, then we come across this Trattoria and the waiters on the doorstep greet us. The tables were all booked (normal for a Saturday evening) but they found us a table in the outdoor area at the side of the restaurant, very intimate and quiet. We explain that we really didn't want dinner but at the sight of the menu I suddenly became hungry. I took the main dish "pappardelle with wild boar ragù" (superior category pasta made by them), my friend had two vegetable side dishes (potatoes and artichokes) which arrived in two small pans and were excellently cooked. Pappardelle, what can I say? Fabulous and with a Ragù that was a real second course, so much so that I gave some to my companion. I just wanted a glass of wine from the bottle that was currently opened, a wonderful Primitivo. Two types of bread arrived warm and crunchy which we tasted with their excellent Tuscan oil. My companion ordered a sprizt which turned out to be better than those drunk in the places dedicated to aperitifs. Honest bill (25 each). I will be back to try the rest of the menu. A big applause to the kind and very polite staff.

01/05/2025: If you travel with small children, you know how difficult it is to find a suitable place, but we had an incredible experience here. The entire staff was super friendly to us. They let us in a little before opening, gave us great advice, and were attentive to our little one the entire time. We even said goodbye to the entire kitchen staff. We were able to take home any leftover food. They speak excellent English, and all the food was fresh and homemade. We had risotto and cod fillet steak, and they prepared a half portion of fresh pasta with ragu for our son. I highly recommend it!

27/04/2025: I was hoping Brunello would improve my opinion about food in Milan - which has been a huge disappointment. It didn't. The "welcome" (a mortadela puree with balsamic vinegar) as well as the spread that accompanied the Cotoletta had been served well in advance and the parts that were in contact with air had formed a membrane. The pumpkin flowers were too oily, missing the beautiful surprise of the cold ricotta inside a hot exterior. Everything was lukewarm instead. The Cotoletta had a strange heat distribution: the crust was indeed crispy but cold and the meat was much warmer. Not warm enough to cook evenly everywhere though. Next to the bone the meat was too pink for me to feel comfortable eating. I didn't stay for dessert. Not even the gelato I had a few blocks down the road managed to take away the taste of the balsamico from the "welcome" puree...

19/04/2025: Revelation! I recommend it to everyone who wants to try real Italian flavors and home cooking. Prices are low compared to the city center. We ate carbonara, pesto, salsita, pasta with peperoncino, two Brussels, a liter of wine, a liter of water and Coca-Cola.

19/04/2025: We highly recommend this restaurant, which accepted us despite the late hour. The quantities were very generous, we enjoyed ourselves. The atmosphere and the staff were great!

28/03/2025: Eleganza raffinatezza ed eccellenza nel servizio contraddistinguono questo ottimo ristorante alle porte di varese. Per noi un appuntamento fisso due/tre volte all’anno. Piatti ricercati ampia ed eccellente cantina. Gentilezza e professionalità nel servizio. Forse nei piatti occorrerebbe una spinta in più perché a dispetto degli ingredienti e della tecnica mancavano un po’ di decisione nel sapore ma nel complesso ottimi. Sicuramente merita ed è nel ns cuore come uno dei nostri luoghi di rifugio a Varese

07/04/2025: I booked this place on the recommendation of acquaintances. When booking I forgot to point out the presence of people with reduced mobility, because it was declared easily accessible by those who had been there. The table was on the first floor (easily accessible with a ramp), but given our discomfort they immediately set the table on the ground floor at a very intimate table. I really thank the waiter (who unfortunately I didn't ask his name who pampered us the whole time). Very high variety of Tuscan cured meats, all of excellent quality. Divine pici cacio e pepe (this is perhaps the only indication, I was hoping there were those with garlic), very generous portions, especially the pici ragù with wild boar. My father, who is quite "picky" about game, enjoyed the polenta with roe deer, very filling and delicious. Apparently the desserts were divine too!
