While I rest from the morning's efforts, I make a reservation at the last trattoria where I would like to eat: The old guard, in via della Commenda 21. From where we are it takes less than 8 minutes on foot, but with my leg I leave in time and arrive beyond the booking anyway... wow!
We're inside. The entrance is narrow and opens immediately onto a small room, but we are made to sit in a much larger room, with a high ceiling, it gives me a very rationalist style, it seems to be in an old film from the 1930s, tables and chairs in wood, pastel colours, at the end the door to the bathrooms and next to it a food window that opens directly into the kitchen. The waiter, for his part, has fallen into the character of the past, with a dark apron down to his ankles. And we are in a restaurant.
We order gas water and half a liter of loose house white wine, a Tuscan wine, followed by osso buco with risotto and my lady elephant's ears with potatoes. While we wait they give us an entrée: a fried ball of risotto, on vegetable cream and a sheet of spicy bread... you put the sheet in your mouth and after the second chew the spicy note arrives... nice entrée, there's no doubt about it. 'that's what I can say. The bread for the slipper is the usual loaf they give here, but there were three slices of a different one, black with dried fruit. After a while, His Majesty the òs büüs arrives, as they say here, and the Queen the cutelèta or elephant's uregia... carter-sized portions! The cutlet is more than huge, cooked perfectly and very tender, the potato sheets are fried and in their skins. My wife struggles quite a bit to get to the end and has to give up just over half, the remainder was packaged and returned with us to Modena, to be consumed a few days later.
The osso bucco with the risotto... rice as usual perfect and plentiful, the meat amazing, you could smell all the aromas used for cooking. Imposing quantity with a bone about five centimeters high and a wire stuck inside, to be able to extract the marrow without difficulty. The stew was cut effortlessly with a fork, the thickness of the slice must have been at least four centimetres. I must confess that I got to the bottom with a lot of effort, I would never have believed that fat could almost knock me down, but this one sold the meat dearly, before giving in and succumbing between my jaws.
My wife, the greedy one, manages to clean her mouth with the dessert, millefeuille cream and berries, which according to her is excellent.
We're leaving, the bill is as important as the dishes were: €102.

Thank you for being kind to us tourists until the end, even though we entered the store just before it closed. The woman at the cash register provided very pleasant customer service. The Milanese-style cutlet was too big to finish, but the fries that came with it and the risotto my companion had were both really delicious!

We went here for a birthday with a set menu. Starters with delicious cold cuts, focaccia, fried gnocco and olives. I don't like red wine, but the house one was crazy! First, Milanese risotto and then Milanese cutlet with super special chips and probably homemade mayonnaise. Finally, prosecco, cake for the birthday boy and very good mixed biscuits. They have made special dishes for vegan/vegetarian people. Great prices for the quality and portions. Very kind and helpful staff, we had a really good time!

Un'autentica trattoria di forte ispirazione milanese/lombarda, con un risotto molto buono e piatti tipici della tradizione, dalla cotoletta all'ossobuco. serizio veloce e molto professionale. Porzioni molto grandi. Forse un filo troppo alto il conto finale. Ma senza dubbio un ottimo ristorante.

Locale molto accogliente che sa di pulito, si nota subito la massima cura nei dettagli. Siamo stati accolti con molta gentilezza e cordialità, coccolati per tutto il pranzo. Piatti eccellenti realizzati con ingredienti di ottima qualità. Personale cordiale e professionale. Ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo. Consigliato.
