04/09/2025: Leaving the Arese shopping center, we found an all-you-can-eat restaurant. Excellent. The salmon tartar and the sushi/sashimi mix were good. The bao buns were a little empty and dry, but the mussels marinara were excellent. We'll be back; for lunch, there's also the option of a lunch of the day with traditional Italian dishes.

23/08/2025: I went there solely for the cold noodles, and I was surprised by how delicious they were. The broth had a slight herbal aroma, similar to wheat noodle broth, and I liked the tangy sourness, perhaps because of the black vinegar. I also liked that the spicy seasoning paste had a nice kick at the end. The staff were friendly and nice, too! It was a shop run by a Chinese person, and I was surprised by how well they recreated the authentic Korean flavor!!

08/03/2026: It was a beautiful day so I sat outside. Food was good for an all you can eat. Service was good. Nothing really stood out in what I ordered but it was good.

24/01/2026: The waiters are friendly, but there are too many tables and they tend to get confused. I'd recommend removing five or six to help both customers with social anxiety and the waiters better orient themselves in a stressful situation like a packed Saturday. However, you need to specify all the ingredients, because my boyfriend doesn't like mayonnaise, and he ordered an epiten onigiri and saw it. Add all the ingredients and you'll get to 4 stars.

18/11/2025: This Chinese and Japanese restaurant, located on one of Milan's nightlife hotspots, has a beautiful atmosphere. It's also very busy at lunchtime. Excellent food, including delicious sushi, shrimp and meat ravioli, tempura, and rice. The staff are extremely friendly and willing to make changes; the owners are very friendly. They also offer takeout and delivery. Highly recommended.

14/02/2026: I've been frequenting this restaurant since it wasn't even renovated, and for over 40 years it's been a staple for our family. That's precisely why we chose to spend Valentine's Day dinner there, but unfortunately, it was an evening to forget. Something went wrong from the start: due to high demand, we were assigned a makeshift table, extremely cramped, and positioned in front of an emergency exit that, by law, should remain unobstructed. After ordering, the first courses arrived, but we waited over an hour for the subsequent courses, repeatedly asking for updates without receiving any concrete answers. At that point, we decided to get up and pay for what we'd actually consumed. When we asked to remove the dishes that never arrived from the bill, a waitress insisted, claiming they had been served. Only the intervention of the former owner clarified the situation, allowing us to pay correctly. No apology, no gesture of attention, but rather the unpleasant feeling of being considered disloyal customers. An important dinner ruined and a huge disappointment after so many years of trust. Unfortunately, from today it will no longer be our go-to restaurant.

18/03/2026: I don’t eat seaweed but enjoy sushi and I find it so hard to find a place that is willing to make the rolls without it… I ordered ono today and they were so sweet and made it exactly how I wanted it and wrote me a little note as well. Food is a 10/10 and the bunny dessert is AMAZING.

09/03/2026: Not bad, but not memorable. I always hope to find something new in the sushi world. I found the menu pretty standard, and the service was decent. The maguro temaki were good, but they didn't seem very fresh, almost lukewarm, and I don't like that; the temperature needs to be cool. The bill was slightly higher than average. Service could be better. Nice decor.

22/09/2025: This is my 19th day in Italy, and this is my fourth Chinese restaurant. This is the best Chinese restaurant I've ever been to. Even when combined with Italian food, it's second only to the T-bone steak I had in Pienza (at Trattoria da Fiorella). If you're in Milan and feeling a bit tired of pizza and pasta, this is a restaurant worth visiting. The value for money is second to none. It's my 19th day in Italy, and this is the fourth Chinese restaurant I've visited. Without a doubt, it's the best one yet. In fact, it's probably the second-best meal of my entire trip, right after the incredible T-bone steak I had in Pienza (at Trattoria da Fiorella). If you're in Milan and feeling a bit tired of pizza and pasta, this place is definitely worth a try.

15/09/2025: On the day of my travel from the City of Lights, with my itinerary for the Matterhorn scheduled for early the next morning, I happened to pass by this restaurant here in Milan, and from the start I was drawn to it. I felt a certain affinity with the red neon lights in the dark city and the lanterns, which seemed out of place in the medieval cityscape. I was starting to feel a bit bored of Italian cuisine, so I can now say that my decision to head there was inevitable. Before entering, I took a quick peek inside to gauge the clientele. There were two groups of people, both of whom seemed to be picky about food, and one couple. Hmm, not bad. In fact, it was good. That introduction has been long, but following my initial sense of familiarity and instinct, I entered this restaurant and it was undoubtedly a hit. Looking at the menu, I was awed by the sheer variety. They had everything you could want: meat, seafood, vegetables, hot pot, noodles and rice, soup, and Tianjin. Even more surprising are the prices. Cheap. Incredibly cheap. It's almost a mystery how this restaurant has managed to survive in its current form. You might think that cheap food would mean the food was just so-so, but no, that's not the case. Delicious. Every dish is consistently delicious, a testament to the chef's experience and skill. First up is the hot and sour soup. It has a tangy spiciness with a subtle, yet definite, sour note. The umami of the shiitake mushroom, the texture of the bamboo shoot, and the sweetness of the egg intertwine to create a complex yet delightful experience as the flavor you'd imagined fills your mouth. Next up is the sweet and sour fried rice. This extremely simple fried rice, made with just egg, is enveloped in a soy-based sauce made with pork, shrimp, squid, cabbage, bok choy, and bean sprouts. That's it. Washing it down with Tsingtao beer conjures up images of a hometown that never existed. Next up are the pan-fried dumplings. The result is what appears to be boiled dumplings turned into pan-fried dumplings. But that's not what would bring the restaurant down. While at first glance they may seem a bit strange, the soy sauce, vinegar, and chili oil provided on the table make them the perfect companion to the Tsingtao. The chili oil is the key. Finally, we have the stir-fried water spinach, which could be said to be the star of the dish. Some gentlemen and ladies may be skeptical of a green vegetable at the end, but its arrival at this timing is very reassuring. The green flavor brings the meal together in a refreshing way, while the garlic and oil keep your appetite going until the very end. Of course, the combination with the Tsingtao is also a must-try. I never imagined I would be treated to such high-quality Chinese cuisine in Milan. It's clear that having encountered Shanghai Restaurant will make tomorrow's meals several times more enjoyable due to the synergistic effect. And above all, I want to emphasize that the price is simply too low for the quality. If this is the standard price for Chinese food in Milan considering this quality, it is frightening. If there are people out there who are put off by Italian cuisine, I would recommend Shanghai Restaurant as their first choice.

22/11/2025: Excellent food with generous portions, many versions of familiar dishes. Try the spicy sesame chicken. The traditional and relaxed atmosphere is perfect for a romantic dinner. Recommended for dinner as a way to start the evening.
