But sadly food service and atmosphere were a let down. We had the 5 sapori starter - which was 7/10. Local flavours nicely prepared. Mains had Ciceri e tria and the millefoglie of Seabass. The sea bass was overcooked and ciceri was ok but overcooked. The worst bit was the wine. We ordered a reasonably expensive bottle, they arrived with a different bottle (retails at 50% of what we ordered) and they charged us the same. It felt a bit like a tourist trap and somewhat dishonest. Came away feeling like we had overpaid for a pretty mediocre meal.
29/07/2025: A disastrous experience from start to finish. Soulless cuisine, contemptuous service, and zero attention to the customer. You have to wonder if they’ve ever actually tasted the food they serve. The risotto was dumped onto the plate like in a cheap cafeteria. The fish? Boiled, flavorless, most likely reheated, and I seriously doubt it was fresh. And to top it all off: unpleasant, borderline rude staff who make no effort to understand the order. This restaurant is a disgrace — a perfect example of what hospitality should never be.

24/07/2025: Excellent quality restaurant, delicious food and dishes with a wide variety, very professional and helpful staff, very welcoming, I recommend it to everyone, excellent in everything.
18/07/2025: We were there for work, and were welcomed as if we were their grandchildren. The owners, Filippo and Rosaria, are two genuine, hard-working people who do everything they can to make their guests feel welcome and cared for, as do their daughters who help them, who are also tireless. After 15 days, we were sad to leave them; we felt at home. We returned two years later, again for work. The place has been completely renovated, but fortunately the spirit hasn't. I will return as soon as possible, and we will continue to return. Thank you again for everything you have done and continue to do. If you pass through Roseto, you can't miss this place. The cuisine is simple, but very good, and they are always attentive to the customer's needs. A big hug to the whole family.

27/04/2025: Un'Oasi di Sapori Autentici e Cordialità al Bastian Contrario di Andria
La nostra recente visita al ristorante Bastian Contrario di Andria si è rivelata un'esperienza culinaria indimenticabile, un vero e proprio viaggio nel cuore della tradizione pugliese. Fin dal nostro arrivo, la cordialità squisita del titolare ci ha fatto sentire subito a casa, preludio a un pranzo che ha deliziato ogni nostro senso.
Gli antipasti sono stati una vera apoteosi di sapori locali: dalla fragrante focaccia alla cremosa burrata, passando per un delizioso gateau. Le proposte di mare, con il polpo tenero e il salmone fresco, hanno stuzzicato il nostro palato in modo superbo. Ma non è finita qui! Abbiamo poi assaporato degli ottimi assaggi di vitello saporito e melanzane preparate con maestria, un vero omaggio alla ricchezza del territorio.
Il culmine è stato raggiunto con le orecchiette alle cime di rapa, un piatto che definire "una poesia" non rende appieno la sua bontà. La pasta fatta in casa, condita con la sapidità delle cime di rapa e un filo d'olio extravergine, era semplicemente perfetta.
A coronare il tutto, l'ottimo servizio, attento e mai invadente, ha contribuito a rendere l'atmosfera ancora più piacevole. E la sorpresa finale? Un conto con prezzi super onesti che ci ha lasciato ancora più soddisfatti.
Il Bastian Contrario non è solo un ristorante, ma un luogo dove la passione per la buona cucina si sposa con l'accoglienza più autentica. Se vi trovate ad Andria, una tappa qui è assolutamente d'obbligo!
27/04/2025: An Oasis of Authentic Flavors and Friendliness at Bastian Contrario in Andria
Our recent visit to the Bastian Contrario restaurant in Andria proved to be an unforgettable culinary experience, a true journey into the heart of Apulian tradition. From the moment we arrived, the exquisite friendliness of the owner made us immediately feel at home, a prelude to a lunch that delighted our every sense.
The starters were a true apotheosis of local flavours: from the fragrant focaccia to the creamy burrata, passing through a delicious gateau. The seafood offerings, with tender octopus and fresh salmon, whetted our palate superbly. But it doesn't end here! We then enjoyed excellent samples of tasty veal and aubergines prepared with skill, a true homage to the richness of the area.
The culmination was reached with the orecchiette with turnip greens, a dish that to define as "a poem" does not fully convey its goodness. The homemade pasta, seasoned with the flavor of turnip greens and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, was simply perfect.
To top it all off, the excellent service, attentive and never intrusive, contributed to making the atmosphere even more pleasant. And the final surprise? An account with super honest prices that left us even more satisfied.
Bastian Contrario is not just a restaurant, but a place where the passion for good food combines with the most authentic hospitality. If you find yourself in Andria, a stop here is absolutely a must!

26/07/2025: Accueil agréable, cuisine parfaite. J'adore. Galatone est une ville magnifique, à l'architecture baroque, qui nous a mis en extase et nous a fait trouver ce restaurant en accord avec son environnement.

Great experience. Food and service were top notch! If you're in Galatone this is a much stop spot for lunch or dinner.

Sirvieron un plato antes que todos los demás, luego sirvieron a otras tres personas y se olvidaron de un plato más. A la hora de pagar (les he pedido que cancelen el plato restante) , me pidieron que fuera al mostrador y esperara allí unos minutos antes de que alguien se fijara en mí.
Y por supuesto que me cobraron 6 € por el servicio.
20/04/2025: Abbiamo deciso di fare un aperitivo classico da dividere in due perché non avevamo molta fame. Veramente terribile il servizio perché abbiamo aspettato 20 minuti per niente. Questo perché non avevamo fame e il cameriere ci ha detto che non potevamo prendere solo un aperitivo e una bottiglia di acqua.

09/08/2025: One of the rudest encounters I've ever had in my life — anywhere! I adore Italy and have been around 10 times, but this was beyond unacceptable. With a baby and two elderly family members, I politely asked about sunbeds, umbrellas, prices, and what was included. The man responded with shocking hostility, almost shouting that I “should speak Italian” and mocking me. I'm not from an English-speaking country, but English is the common language for travelers — and nothing justifies this level of disrespect. It was clearly misogynistic — I'm certain he wouldn't have acted this way if my husband had been speaking to him. Totally can see the 2.9 stars! Doesn't deserve even one. Avoid this kind of place — don't support misogynistic businesses. Truly disgraceful behavior that left me in shock.

07/08/2025: I happened to stop by this beach club while passing through to grab a couple of drinks with my girlfriend. Well, I was ridiculed by two staff members just for asking for a coffee when the cafeteria was closed (it was only 6:00 PM), with the cashier pointing to the coffee machine, assuming I knew it had already been washed (the LEDs were also on at the time), and with another person nearby claiming I didn't even know what a coffee machine was and therefore implicitly "couldn't understand anything."
What can I say? Avoid these places and don't be fooled by the beach club's aesthetics. There are much better options out there, especially in Torre dell'Orso.
