05/08/2025: My husband and I went in June because we were on vacation. We found the place online. I ordered the special menu of the day, and the dishes my husband ordered were just as good. I saw some pizzas coming out of the oven that looked good. It's a shame about the chaos caused by a large group of parents with children, but that can happen. The bill was also reasonable. The service was good, with a young and friendly waiter. Thank you.

04/08/2025: We stopped by on a Monday at noon when everything else was closed. The pasta with ragù was tasteless and sparse, the grilled pancetta was overcooked and inedible. The quality-price ratio was poor. There's no reason to return. A tourist trap.

28/06/2025: During my stay in Ortona I made breakfast at 'Arte e Tradizione' a regular and daily appointment. The bocconotti are exceptional, every bite was an explosion of flavor. The owners are very kind and friendly. If I have the opportunity to return to Ortona, we will definitely see each other again!

30/03/2025: The owner is from Castel Frentano, and also lives there, very good Bocconotti, excellent coffee, simple place but very clean even in the laboratory. (as per true Castellina tradition).

14/08/2025: The place is quite large, with plenty of seating under the outdoor terrace. The service could be improved. The waiter is quite disorganized, although he's still friendly. The fish is very good, but the appetizers are a bit limited in quantity. The skewers are delicious.

Nestled in a discreet yet refined setting, Al Vecchio Theatro is a restaurant that deserves to be known to all lovers of authentic, elegant Italian cuisine deeply rooted in the Mediterranean tradition, with an extraordinary view of the Adriatic and the port of Ortona. We enjoyed the squid pasta. A dish of great finesse: perfectly al dente spaghetti, simply coated in fruity olive oil and enhanced by the salty sweetness of the ultra-fresh squid. A subtle drizzle of pesto adds a herbaceous touch that balances the whole. It's the sea on the plate, without artifice, but with a rare precision. The linguine with fresh tuna and cherry tomatoes. A festival of colors and flavors! The hand-shredded tuna and sun-dried tomatoes give this dish a typically Mediterranean feel. It's rustic, generous, yet subtly balanced: the kind of dish that evokes family lunches by the sea, surrounded by sunshine and a sea breeze. Paccheri with octopus ragu. An explosion of flavor depth. The large, melt-in-the-mouth paccheri are topped with an absolutely divine octopus sugo, simmered for a long time until remarkably tender. The pesto at the bottom of the plate adds a touch of liveliness that awakens the taste buds. A powerful, perfectly mastered dish. We loved the impeccable cooking of the pasta, and the fresh, remarkably prepared seafood. A gem, far from the more visible tourist traps. Unsurprisingly, the restaurant was packed with locals and regulars.

14/08/2025: Nothing to say, I was impressed by the quality of the meat here. I'll be back, although this time I'd skip the appetizer and focus exclusively on the meat selection. Truly excellent.

08/08/2025: Family dinner, informal setting with outdoor seating in the summer. Orders are taken by the owner, who recommends the type of meat based on the table's preferences. The carpaccio is phenomenal, and the taglierini with cheese and salami is also excellent. Perhaps the quantity of meat was too much, but the owner gave us good advice: the Uruguayan beef was amazing, with a rich texture and melt-in-the-mouth texture. The meat is brought to the table, and guests can finish cooking it to their liking using the stove and griddle. The only thing I would change is the way they serve their sauces, the chimichurri, and the BBQ: I'd opt for a jar instead. A fair price for what we ate. We'll definitely be back.
