Zafferano Pievese In Città della pieve

We have often been guests at the Vannucci hotel and already knew the restaurant. Passing through Città della Pieve, we decided to have dinner. Elegant environment, excellent wine list, impeccable service and excellent raw materials. All dishes skillfully prepared by chef Vito, between Umbrian tradition and original innovation. Prices in line with the quality of the dishes.

Being guests of the hotel we decided to book Easter lunch here. The room is very nice and well-kept like the rest of the rooms. The dishes were really excellent, the appetizer exceptional, even the first and second courses. Very friendly staff and excellent wine. The dessert buffet had a great tiramisu and some really yummy profiteroles. The only flaw is bringing the children's pasta after the adults', they have waited a long time and should always be served first.

We have dinner in this restaurant with hotel in Città della Pieve. Upon entering we immediately notice the elegance of the place and the great kindness of the staff who immediately made us sit down by suggesting a table near the classic warming mushrooms (we were inside the modern glass veranda, very beautiful!). The menu is presented very well with various types of choices; we decide to skip the starter to try the main courses (first and second courses) but in any case they bring us a fantastic Genoese focaccia with cherry tomatoes and black olives to taste. The first course is composed of excellent chestnut pappardelle with pigeon and chestnut ragout while the second course we try is a duck breast, with orange and Jerusalem artichoke puree with thyme and a beef fillet with herb butter and brown stock; both with a side of roasted potatoes. All the proposals tasted turn out to be really good. We conclude the excellent dinner with desserts including a brownie and the local specialty, a saffron ice cream, pecans and chestnut honey. The environment and the high quality of the ingredients make this dinner perfect despite the cost being above average. Definitely the place is recommended if you want to eat something special. We will definitely be back to try more dishes.

Ceniamo in questo ristorante con hotel a città della Pieve. All’entrata notiamo subito l’eleganza del locale e la grande gentilezza del personale che ci fa accomodare subito suggerendoci un tavolo vicino ai classici funghi caloriferi (eravamo all’interno della moderna veranda vetrata, molto bella!).
Il menù si presenta molto bene con svariate tipologie di scelte; decidiamo di saltare l’antipasto per provare le portate principali (primi e secondi) ma in ogni caso ci portano una fantastica focaccia genovese con pomodorini e olive nere da assaggiare. La prima portata è composta da ottime pappardelle di castagne al ragù di piccione e castagne mentre il secondo proviamo sia un petto di anatra, con arancia e purea di topinambur al timo e un filetto di manzo con burro alle erbette e fondo bruno; entrambe con un contorno di patate arrostiste. Tutte le proposte assaggiate risultano essere veramente buone. Concludiamo l’ottima cena con dei dolci tra cui un Brownies e la specialità del posto ossia un gelato allo zafferano, noci pecan e miele di castagno. L’ambiente e l’alta qualità degli ingredienti rende perfetta questa cena nonostante il costo sia superiore alla media. Sicuramente il posto è consigliato se volete mangiare qualcosa di speciale. Torneremo sicuramente per provare ulteriori vivande.

Excellent restaurant. The food is made from local ingredients and is extremely nice! We were brought to our table by nice servers. The service is great and fast.
