Tenuta Dello Scompiglio In Capannori

I had lunch at La Cucina dello Scompiglio today, and overall, I'm giving it three stars based more on trust than on genuine satisfaction (otherwise, it would have been two). The main issue, from my perspective, is a significant discrepancy between the menu and what's actually served. The vocabulary used on the menu creates expectations that aren't reflected in either the plating or the overall experience. The presentation of the dishes was very basic, even sloppy. A concrete example is the charcuterie and cheese platter: served not on a real platter but on a serving platter, with cold cuts piled together, under-appreciated cheeses, and a jam placed in a rather questionable manner. Overall, a dish that feels "thrown in," out of line with the offerings and, especially, the price. Regarding the quality of the meat and the plating of the other dishes, I wasn't convinced by the quality of the food compared to the price. Another important aspect: the menu is almost entirely based on vegetables/vegetarian dishes. Nothing bad in itself, but this should be made much clearer. My friends and I had a hard time choosing because the menu didn't clearly communicate this. Another negative note about dessert: I ordered a revisited panna cotta, which I barely tasted and left almost entirely. I didn't like it at all, and was surprised that no one asked if I liked it. Considering a panna cotta is a rather simple dessert, it left me perplexed. I sincerely believe the place has potential, but in my opinion it needs a general overhaul: from the menu, to the presentation, to the consistency between the menu, dishes, and prices. I hope this review can be useful as a starting point for improvement. For now, personally, I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon.

I'm celiac and vegetarian, so it's not easy to find a restaurant that meets my needs. The food is excellent, with homemade vegetables and jams. I found a wide selection and impeccable attention to detail. The location is spectacular in the summer, with the outdoor area but also welcoming inside. It's typically Tuscan, with a mandolato-style upper dining room. Highly recommended. Everyone was great, from the kitchen to the dining room.

If you're in the area, don't miss this spot. A great atmosphere, superb service—a truly great place.

A stunning venue with a smoking area, and a beautiful wooden patio between the building and the vineyards, perfect for lunch and dinner during the summer and warmer months. Extremely friendly and punctual service. Fantastic menu with meat, vegetarian, and vegan options, all delicious and imaginative. Excellent prices for the quality of the food, location, and service.

Upscale Italian cuisine with locally sourced organic ingredients, including their own truly excellent red wines. All this nestled in the beautiful Tuscan countryside, far from the city.

Exceptional Refined cuisine with local products and made with great passion. Everything was excellent and beautifully presented. The restaurant is beautiful both inside and out, and well-served, with plenty of light and a modern, cheerful, and soundproof atmosphere. The staff was friendly, quick, and courteous. My only complaint was that I would have given a little more importance to the local wine, given the menu, but nothing negative; the selection is extensive and well-managed. A 10-star experience. I will recommend this place and will definitely return much more often.

Excellent location in the Lucca hills. Simple menu...I had a salad with fresh fruit, nuts, and cheese. Their wine is excellent. The service could be improved.
