I've been to this place several times with my family over the past few years; it's a popular hangout since we live in the area. I returned on Saturday evening after months of not returning. There were three of us: my partner, me, and his nephew. The gentleman who greeted us at the entrance was kind, greeted us, and asked if we had reservations. We said no, so he consulted with his colleague in the dining room, who wasn't as courteous as him. They seated us, asking us to vacate the table within an hour because it wasn't available. Okay. My boyfriend ordered a cutlet with fries, which was average. My nephew ordered a pizza (very average), and I ordered a grilled salmon steak with vegetables. Extremely disappointed. The salmon was tiny, not to mention the unseasoned grilled vegetables left on the plate. I think the chef in the kitchen had changed, or it was probably just a bad night. The drinks only arrived on the third time we asked for them while the food was arriving. What's going on? Despite everything, it was a pleasant evening; for us, "la barchetta" has always been a meeting place. Let's hope it was just a bad night!

In season, they offer "puntarelle alla romana" with a twist of mozzarella (good, but not enough anchovies and garlic, which don't blend well). A good, casual spot for lunch and dinner.
