Fabulous dinner.
Well deserved star.
Everything was impeccable from the welcome to the menu, from the very kind room service guys to the mise en place. Chef Annunziata confirms that he is truly up to the task.
We ate delicacies that we will remember for a long time.
Note of merit also to the pastry shop. An experience to absolutely repeat!

Cena veramente meravigliosa. Abbiamo ricevuto l’upgrade allo stesso prezzo con la fortuna di cenare nell’antica ghiacciaia. Ogni piatto ben studiato con abbinamenti non scontati ma interessanti e dal gusto eccezionale. Servizio attento ed impeccabile. Nel complesso un’esperienza indelebile. Assolutamente da provare.

Ein verstecktes Juwel der italienischen Küche!
Das Menü war zwar nicht umfangreich, aber jedes Gericht war mit so viel Liebe und Sorgfalt zubereitet, dass es mich regelrecht verzauberte. Die Kombinationen von Aromen und Texturen waren überraschend und kreativ. Jeder Bissen war ein Geschmackserlebnis, das ich so schnell nicht vergessen werde.
Der Service war herzlich und aufmerksam. Das Personal war sehr bemüht, meinen Aufenthalt so angenehm wie möglich zu gestalten.
Obwohl das I Portici nur einen Michelin-Stern hat, war die Präsentation der Gerichte dennoch beeindruckend. Jeder Teller war mit viel Liebe zum Detail arrangiert und sah einfach wunderschön aus. Es war offensichtlich, dass der Küchenchef großen Wert auf Ästhetik legt.
Die Weinauswahl war von hoher Qualität. Die empfohlenen Weine passten perfekt zu den Gerichten und rundeten das kulinarische Erlebnis ab.
Alles in allem war mein Besuch in diesem italienischen 1-Sterne-Restaurant großartig. Die Leidenschaft und Hingabe des Küchenteams spiegelten sich in jedem Gericht wider. Ich freue mich auf meinen nächsten Besuch.

They seated us in the wine cellar that has a clear plexiglass floor so you can see the entire cellar from your table. The 7 course meal and wine pairing was exceptional and the service was just as good. One of the best meals of my life.

Difficult to imagine that this restaurant was awarded a Michelin star. The room is beautiful, the waitstaff is friendly and attentive, but the food is decidedly inconsistent from course to course, and sometimes substandard, even inedible. Later, when we commented on some of the dishes, the waitstaff lost their friendliness and charm.
Three of us ordered the seven-course tasting menu, which was promising but uneven. A beef carpaccio was overly acidic, but a duck breast was so tough that no one at our table could even chew it. Then a waiter-touted pasta was so incredibly salty that we pushed it aside. There was an odd fig ice cream on overcooked green beans that must have been a mistake.
The sommelier was terrific and led us to a perfect bottle of wine. But one good course would satisfy, then be followed by something so poorly executed that it made no sense and tasted terrible. It seems the chef was having an off night or perhaps there was a substitute chef. We told the waiter, when asked, about the quality of each course.
At the end, he apologized and offered us alcohol, but no reduction in our bill. There was a plethora of desserts to conclude the meal, and even some of them were oddly off; bizarre savory tastes in a sweet prep, or herbal notes. At these prices (about $160 USD per person plus wine) an uneven, unsatisfying meal like this one is unacceptable.
We have canceled reservations for another Michelin starred restaurant and returned to Osteria/Trattoria food, which has been delicious in Siracusa, Taormina, and Bologna. Sometimes a well prepped bowl of pasta and a salad beats fussy, overpriced fare.
