After seven years, we returned to this beautiful restaurant for lunch. The fish was incredibly fresh. Everything was excellent. The staff were extremely kind and welcoming. The owner is a distinguished and very sociable gentleman. It's worth a stop.

We dined at Ristorante Il Giardino and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The atmosphere is tranquil, stylish, and inviting—perfect for settling in and savoring the moment.
The food was truly delightful: fresh, perfectly balanced, and beautifully presented. It's clear that they place great emphasis on quality and excellent ingredients. The classic Italian dishes, in particular, made a lasting impression.
The service was attentive, friendly, and pleasantly unobtrusive, ensuring we felt well taken care of throughout.
Our conclusion: A lovely restaurant with a welcoming atmosphere that we would gladly return to. We highly recommend it for a relaxing and enjoyable evening. 🌟🍷

I had lunch at Il Giardino on Saturday and was very satisfied. I tried several dishes: the grilled octopus served with Jerusalem artichoke cream, confit cherry tomatoes, and purple potato chips, which, however, didn't particularly impress me; the panciotti stuffed with shrimp and scallops with half a lobster in tomato sauce, which I thoroughly enjoyed; the yellow-black chitarrina with scampi, scallops, hillside cherry tomatoes, and Genoese pesto; and the strigoli with shrimp, clams, and zucchini flowers. Finally, for dessert, I chose the tiramisu, which was truly delicious. Every dish was exquisite, with well-balanced flavors and an almost impeccable presentation.
The staff was very friendly and kind, and the atmosphere was welcoming and pleasant.
Considering the high quality of the food and service, the prices are also more than reasonable.

We had a à la carte dinner on New Year's Eve. Everything was delicious. It's a shame I had a fever of 104°F and didn't eat everything. But that doesn't diminish the restaurant at all.

Located on Viale della Vittoria, which leads to the War Memorial, a chic area of Ancona. The restaurant is very large, well-maintained, and welcoming, with a large seating capacity. Despite this, the service is fast and attentive. The menu is varied, and the value for money is absolutely excellent. For those with food intolerances, please let the waiter know when you book and at the table (please be careful about this too). We were very satisfied; in our case, seven people, a fish menu, and two bottles of wine, so the price of about €43 per person was more than justified. At the end of the meal, the restaurant offered cookies and liqueurs (limoncello, licorice liqueur, etc.). The place is always busy, so I recommend booking in advance. Emanuela

In just a few decades, Il Giardino has gone from being a family-run restaurant located in Ancona's Adriatic District to an elegant establishment with a varied and refined cuisine (ranging from typical dishes and classics of our seafood cuisine, such as the appetizing "sardoncini a scottadito" or the delicious "stoccafisso all'anconitana" 🐟🥔 to more "international" dishes, as indicated on the separate sushi 🍣 or crudités menu, like French ones 🐚) thanks to the work of the talented Antonio, the owner, who, as a true Neapolitan 🌶, has also given the bakery and pizzeria a stamp of unmistakable quality 🍕
The first course of strozzapreti with asparagus and lobster tails on a bed of pecorino cream has also been on the menu for a long time, but it's truly delicious 😋 However, the amberjack sashimi with pistachio had too much soy sauce (not of excellent quality), which should be quantified by the customer depending on the type of sauce. of his tastes, and above all, a thorn was discovered, visible in the photo. The bathroom is quite clean; I wish I could say the same about the hands of the South American waiter in the yellow room.
As always, however, my reviews have an unmistakable element of historical research: the restaurant is called "Il Giardino" because it is the portion of the garden of the Villa Mastai Ferretti, attributed to Pellegrino Tibaldi, who stayed in Ancona from 1560 to 1562. He was also commissioned to paint the main hall, which was later destroyed. His style is recognizable in many formal elements adopted throughout the building, such as the massive rusticated ashlars of the villa's cornerstones and the entrance arches, clearly in Bolognese style. Currently, the main building is used partly as a restaurant and partly as a guesthouse/hotel. The first records of the villa date back to 1560, and its name has been remembered in local historiography since the 16th century. During the French siege of 1799, the villa appears to have suffered severe damage, and the paintings attributed to Tibaldi were lost in the main hall. The villa was damaged in an earthquake in 1930, then renovated in 1933. The 1914 town and country planning plan, adopted after the Second World War for the construction of Via F. Filzi, led to the destruction of the rear garden and its surrounding wall, and the imposing eastern entrance arch disappeared. The villa was incorporated into the town center, losing its characteristics as an isolated villa. Indeed, from the side of the external restaurant, it is on one side of Viale della Vittoria, an important boulevard built during the Fascist era. It would be interesting to share this "local story" with the many visitors from outside Ancona, for example, with beautiful menus or a QR code.
