Ristorante Altarocca In Orvieto

We came across this place while traveling from Florence to Rome and planning to visit Orvieto. By chance we saw a sign, decided to check it out, and were absolutely delighted with the place. It is a very well-maintained resort. The service from all the staff was excellent, and the rooms were beautifully cared for. The entire estate is stunning, with great facilities including a gym and swimming pools, and the view is unique. We had a wonderful meal at the restaurant and tasted their own wines, which we even bought to take with us. But please be informed that kids under 12 years old are not allowed. Our stay there was an unexpected and very pleasant surprise.

We spent three nights at Altarocca Wine Resort and it was absolutely wonderful. The property is stunning and peaceful, with breathtaking views of the countryside. We stayed in a king suite with a balcony, and the room was beautiful, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. It truly feels like a luxury stay at a very reasonable price. The location is perfect—close enough to explore Orvieto, but honestly the resort itself is so relaxing you could easily spend days just enjoying the grounds. We did both the wine tour and olive oil tour, which were excellent. The true highlight, however, was the restaurant. The food, presentation, atmosphere, and views felt Michelin-star quality. Mattia, the manager, and Roberto, the sommelier, were incredible. The entire team was knowledgeable, professional, and polished, yet also warm and genuinely engaging. They created the perfect balance between fine dining and the welcoming feeling of being cared for like a guest in someone’s home. One small suggestion would be the spa experience. The disposable rough paper on the massage tables felt a bit out of place compared to the otherwise luxurious experience at this resort. The paper also made a bit of noise during the massage, which slightly disrupted the relaxing atmosphere. Soft linens on the tables and perhaps a small welcome drink like tea or a glass of wine would elevate the experience to match the excellence of the rest of the resort. Overall, this was a five-star stay and we would absolutely return.

Altarocca was the best stay of our entire trip and one of the best places I've ever been to. Their rooms are very comfortable, well designed, and very peaceful. The grounds are so gorgeous. Beautiful views, and a solid mix of modern and rustic winery vibes. The restaurant above all is absolutely fantastic. Roberto and Mattia took such good care of us. They were so friendly and helpful each time we visited. They went above and beyond for us and were a genuine delight to see each time we visited the restaurant. We did the wine tour and tasting, and we did dinner twice during our visit. The food here was the best we've had on our trip. Other food was great, but this food was especially incredible. They should be on their way to a Michelin start or at least a recommendation. Their restaurant goes beyond great food and encapsulates great service and a truly great experience. I can't recommend the place more. For what it's worth, I do think they can improve their spa experience to be more in line with what Americans would expect from a spa. Other than that, I plan on visiting here again soon.

Delightful accommodation. The hotel is located 15 minutes from the city and has a beautiful view. I stayed there in the winter, and at that time it's not possible to enjoy the outdoor spaces because of the cold and rain, but it must be spectacular in the spring and summer. The breakfast was delicious and the staff very kind. The restaurant is a show in itself and worth it! The wines are delicious!

A truly enchanting place to stay. My partner and I found a little paradise in the Umbrian hills. Every detail reflects the care and commitment the property dedicates to its guests.
