An Unforgettable Culinary Gem in the Heart of Taormina
On our final evening in the enchanting town of Taormina, we wanted a dining experience that felt truly special—something that captured the spirit of Sicily and left us with a lasting memory. Osteria Rosso Divino delivered that and so much more.
Tucked away on a charming side street, this beautiful restaurant had been highly recommended by our Italian travel agent. Even without a reservation, we were greeted with warm smiles and gracious hospitality, and seated right away—a gesture that instantly made us feel at home.
Soon after, a lovely woman approached our table with the kind of warmth and enthusiasm that can’t be faked. She carefully walked us through the day’s offerings, painting each dish with such vivid detail and passion that we found ourselves hanging on every word. We ultimately chose the fresh red snapper—expertly prepared two ways. One half was dressed with golden toasted breadcrumbs and a delicate hint of orange citrus; the other was served Sicilian-style with olives, sweet raisins, sun-ripened tomatoes, and fresh aromatic herbs.
The result? Absolute perfection. Each bite told a story—of sea, sun, and tradition. The flavors were bold yet balanced, deeply rooted in local heritage but executed with a level of finesse that spoke to true culinary artistry.
To our surprise and delight, we later discovered that the woman who had so eloquently described the menu was in fact the owner. That revelation added an extra layer of heart to an already beautiful evening. It’s rare to feel such an authentic connection to a place while dining, but this was one of those rare, magical moments.
If you find yourself in Taormina, do not miss Osteria Rosso Divino. It’s not just a meal—it’s an experience. A true celebration of Sicilian flavors, heartfelt hospitality, and the kind of charm that stays with you long after the last bite.

A very good experience overall. The setting is pretty although the lack of a breeze and the nearby smokers (ubiquitous in Italian outdoor dining of course) detracted somewhat. The service was very good and the food was excellent, as expected. The quality matched the prices. Would go back.

This place has amazing food and amazing staff. The seafood is very very fresh, and the staff explain it really well. The raw seafood platter for starter is great, and between the grilled and stewed option for the catch of the day, we preferred the grilled. The wine menu here is excellent too.
Only problem - it is incredibly hot in this restaurant even under the shade. There is no air-conditioned indoor space available.

Amazing Lunch! The service was outstanding and the food was perfection. Our wonderful hostess provided us with an excellent recommendation for wine as well. Don’t miss this one if you are in Taormina. The seafood and produce was fresh and prepared to complement their natural flavors. I will remember this lunch forever:)

We ordered “catch of the day”- fresh red snapper weighing 1.4kg, cooked in 2 ways.
First dish: Oven baked and covered with pistachio-herbs-breadcrumbs, topped with orange zest and served with rainbow chard at the side.
The fish was crispy outside, but the meat was juicy and moist inside. You can taste the sweetness of the fish and the breadcrumbs added good texture. Rainbow chard was sweet.
Second dish: prepared in Sicilian style, with tomatoes, capers, olives, raisins, potatoes.
Soup taste really sweet. Well balanced with sweetness of fish while capers and tomatoes gives the mouth watering, saltier and savory profile.
Unfortunately, there was no air conditioning and it was a hot day. Luckily we were offered cold wet towels to cool down.

The food was good but not exceptional. A plate of spaghetti with shrimp in olive oil cost €40, and an aperol drink on a terrace under an awning in very hot weather seemed expensive. There should be better options.

On our last night in Taormina, we were looking for something special and different and Osteria Rosso Divino was the perfect choice. The restaurant came highly recommended by our Italian travel agent, and even without a reservation, we were warmly welcomed and seated right away.
A lovely woman came over to walk us through the day’s specials, especially the fresh fish options. She enthusiastically described how the catch of the day could be prepared, and we decided on the red snapper served two ways: one half with toasted bread crumbs and orange citrus, and the other half Sicilian-style with olives, raisins, tomatoes, and fresh herbs. Both were absolutely outstanding fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared.
Later, we found out the woman who had so passionately described the menu was actually the owner, which made the experience feel even more personal and special.
If you’re in Taormina, do not miss this place. The food and service were both 5-star and a delicious way to end our trip!
