As a Neapolitan raised on the Amalfi Coast and traveling for 40 years throughout Italy and abroad, I'm exposed to new tastes and flavors that are very different from our own, and often clash with our palate. Yesterday, thanks to a welcome surprise invitation from a great restaurateur on the island of Elba, Taverna del Torchio in Capoliveri, a true Neapolitan, we were literally pampered with a romantic dinner at this true Neapolitan restaurant by Antonio Izzo's team. Exceptional hospitality. Fresh seafood appetizers, the kind only found in seaside locations. Truly top-notch fish first and second courses, brought fresh to our table and then on hot trays by an attentive waiter who took care of filleting and plating our dishes, not skimping on a glass of DOC wine. To finish, a delicious dessert and pastiera, which, like the entire dinner, offered the flavors of a past recognized only in great Italian cuisine. Heartfelt congratulations to Luigi for the invitation and to Antonio Izzo's team.

On vacation in Milan we were really surprised, it's a shame he doesn't speak a word of French, but their pizzas are great.

Wonderful environment, in the center of the action and yet on the edge, so you can hear each other well. Nice, helpful staff who helped us with our selection. Excellent wine and food.
