Ristorante la Perla In Amalfi

.AWAY FROM THE CROWDS! Absolutely lovely restaurant in a quiet setting away from the center crowds, heat and noise. We were eager for light lunch and they had just what we wanted…a delicious seafood salad…and a limoncello spritz! We hope to get back for dinner.

Excellent restaurant in the heart of Amalfi, the food is very good. Super recommended. If you are looking for accommodation, we can recommend Beautiful Guest House, from the same owner as the La Perla restaurant, located above the restaurant (the room with the terrace is gorgeous).

Spaghetti with sea urchin where you can only taste the lemon and fennel, terrible frozen fried calamari, ravioli with burrata which the Coop brand ones are better, buffalo mozzarella which you couldn't tell if it was spoiled ricotta or what... Sorrento style gnocchi let's not talk about it! Top marks for the Argentinian waiter who was super courteous and polite!

Excellent treatment and quality. Fast service (strong point if you are sightseeing) I highly recommend the lobster pasta. About €50 per head (there are cheaper dishes). You will regret it if you don't go.

Our first choice pizzeria was closed this evening and this looked like a good backup. We started with an uninspired mixed salad - lettuce greens, a few shavings of carrot, and about a sixth of a tomato diced small. Olive oil and balsamic - mix your own dressing. No dijon or anything else to elevate it. Meh. We ordered 750 ml of the house red, which was brought out in a porcelain pitcher. One and a half glasses for each of us means they short-poured the wine. Seriously? We shared the capricciola pizza. Slightly undercooked crust, very few ingredients, and a bare hint of cheese. We’ve had worse pizza, but not recently. There is no excuse for serving a blah pizza in Amalfi, Italy for crying out loud. We told the waiter, and then the manager, how disappointed we were in the meal and why. They could not have cared less. We won’t be back.
